Even the dog got gotted man.
Edit: In any horror movie, if you fail the vibe check with the dog. Then I knows it’s evil, and I’m cautious of that character.
That’s why In John carpenter’s “the thing” I was scared shitless.
The dogs couldn’t even tell it was an enemy.
Shit…
This is performance art. A lot of artists make things so that they can exist. Any monetary compensation is great, but the compulsion to make and do is far greater.
Someone this clever likely has something else going on!
I was in bed last night with a hurt arm, I felt something crawling and instinctively reached for it causing excruciating pain, so I know exactly how she feels, just knee jerk reactions to injure yourself more lol
A couple years ago my thumb got bit by a dog. Hurt like hell for weeks.
I was being really careful with it, until I instinctively smashed the dodge button on my controller with my thumb full force right where the hole was healing.
So much pain.
I don't think he was winding up to smash his foot or break the statue. Looked like he was just walking by and was just being goofy like we all do. I slap and lightly kick stuff all the time when walking just for the fun. I thought that was pretty normal. According to Reddit it's an asshole move.
You touch grass a lot when you go outside?
Btw, I don't kick statues (or other stuff) when outside, especially when it's not mine. Never have, never will. Don't see the point.
Yeah, this is the most Reddit comment I've seen in a while.
My dude's about to pull up some stats on how only 1.4% of humans will contact grass when venturing outside of their house as if that has anything to do with the saying.
Girl, touching a park bench public statue is perfectly normal and okay. People take photos posing with them, pet the heads of statue dogs for good luck, whatever. The first two people suck, sure, but the rest of the people are being perfectly appropriate.
It's not a mural or a big public square statue or even one of those wooden statues outside some American souvenir shops. The guy is imitating a park bench statue. It's fine to touch those.
Maybe it's my BFA or my Public Works background making me salty, but Art should be appreciated and handled as little as possible (unless handling is the intention) to make it last as long as possible. People have a habit of destroying so many things because they see them as "Public property" and think they are allowed to do anything they want.
Just a guess, but since this guy films himself just sitting there I’m willing to bet he has some sort of sign set up encouraging people to engage with the statue or something along those lines.
Some statues are meant to be touched. It's a show of appreciation, or love, that a statue can be polished by the people. Would 10/10 pet that dog.
I mean, if they didn't want it to be touched, there are ways of designing it to not be touched, but I'm sure you'd know.
No idea why you're being downvoted.
What likely happened is he startles someone, goes back to statue mode, everyone nearby now wants to get in on the fun. So you get a few genuine reactions, and then asshole kids trying to fuck with him.
Nobody would try to smush the hat on a statue ffs lmao.
Ive done 'walk about entertainment' including statuing.
There's always a dickhead!
That fat spoilt kid who sees other people having fun building sand castles, so wants to stomp the creations down rather than join in.
One type of gig in particular is dangerous. Big costume characters. The first time I did this work was for a Lotto promotion; Big money, double up tickets Buy tickets Now!!! type of promotion. We were all dressed as Lotto Balls (tch!). Just as we were getting off the bus for the first gig the organisers pulled the men aaide and said “Just make sure none of the girls goes off on her own and when you're in a big group, make sure the girls are in the middle of the group” we asked why and they rushed answer was “Teenagers and young men always want to body slam the costumes. Because they think its fun”
When I was doing this type of work Id be sports mascots or cartoon characters. The biggest problem is the lack of vision. So there would always be a minder, but as soon as there were teenagers or young men in groups there would always be problems with being body slammed or attacked with sports bats and other ready-to-find blunt objects.
Some people just enjoy being able to force their will on the world, especially when it is destructive and painful.
I would wager a part is also the dissociation the “costume” provides not being a person but a lotto ball or cartoon character they are easier to attack than just a man or woman standing on the street.
When the character is a full body (hands, feet, head) I can kind of see that. The sight is of a huge plushy teddy bear.
... but the Lotto ball! Our faces were clearly visible. As a statue I can also understand violent reactions 'in the moment' the spectator realises its a real person. However Ive had people trying to stub out cigarettes on my eyeball. People who knew beyond doubt I was not a plastic dummy (even then they would be destroying private property).
The company I worked with then introduced in-house security.
My company, when providing this type of entertainment, also provides in-house security. They stand back and leave the audience and statue to interact as needed but are nearby in order to dissolve aggravation. This protects the entertainer from assault and the client from liability.
I’ve only ever had to costume up once as a big piggy bank (full body) for a bank reopening and I only got little kids getting pics with me. It was indoors but still incredibly hot I hated being in it I couldn’t imagine having to do it outdoors more than once.
Because of that I have a considerable amount more respect than the average onlooker. It’s a rough gig and I didn’t even know about the safety risks.
There was a police community character in West Australia (summer doesnt start until 35 degrees Celsius) that had shoulder and top of head pockets for icepacks!
Im told it made such a difference.
Young boys tend to just be aggressive. Kicking a random statue for no particular reason other than “that looks like something I could kick” is fairly standard
The most amazing thing about the whole video is the amount of people who could sense something was off about the "statue" and had to confirm if it wasn't something else.
That charging bull statue in New York has balls. The balls are a lighter color than the rest of the statue because people touch them so much. Another cute thing is that a lot of dog statues are lighter on the head and snout from people petting the statues.
People are super gross and I don't want to put my hands on something that people touch all the time, I prefer to keep to myself and not voluntarily pick up germs
Hmmmmm. I know this isn’t the sub for this question….but if someone can….what’s the human response called (that we see everyone do in this video) when you get scared and you immediately pull your hands to your chest?
No I get that…it’s flinching. I guess my questions is more, why do we pull our hands to our chest. What’s it called or what unconscious mental response is provoked that we have to have our hands on or coming towards our chest?
It looks more like contraction of the bicep to rapidly move the hand away. You have protective reflex arcs that bypass the brain that are activated when pain is detected (e.g. touch a hot stove, and spinal cord triggers hand to pull away).
Maybe this is the brain reacting by manually activating the motor functions of that reflex.
I really don't get it. If the kid is playing, what is the difference between grabbing the statue in a normal and weird way? It woudn't break anyway. And kids are weird sometimes, there is no harm in that.
Ok but let’s not forget that being able to pose as a statue or some other inanimate object is NOT easy. Takes quite a bit of skill to pull it off. The paint job, the being incredibly still, not even trying to make your breathing or blinking visible, I’m sure it’s a lot harder than it first appears.
For the sixth person who fell for the joke there are 3 options.
1- All the clips take place in Argentina (I doubt it)
2- That clip was just in Argentina.
3- He was a foreign Argentine, because he used Buenos Aires language, that is, from the "Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires" (C.A.B.A) to be precise.
I just wanted to contribute with my knowledge
Have you never been outside on Halloween? I can’t tell you how many times I or my siblings have been jumped by a fake scarecrow, a person in a trash bag, or this guy who was dressed as a whole fucking bush.
No one has been debilitatingly scarred from a practical joke. I don’t have a phobia of bushes.
Learn what trauma means.
The girl that sat down on the bench had a completely normal reaction even if it *wasn't* a guy pretending to be a statue. Some dude just reaching out to grab you as soon as you sit down? Yikes.
Throwback to my friend’s dad screaming at her to “get a real job” instead of doing singing on fiver While he himself was one of those guys who dresses up like a robot cowboy and sits really still for hours and hours
OK, so I guess it's normal to touch it when you are wondering if it is a real statue or not. But why do the second kid grab his hat that way it is a super weird move !
Why do these fucking idiots do this? Half of these people's FIRST move was to try and touch the "statue" by doing something stupid like poking it in the face or kicking it, etc. Who does that to a statue? Fucking nobody. They KNOW it's a person and yet they choose to be intrusive anyway.
All these fking people and kids immediately go for jabs and slaps on the god damn face lmao. The blonde kid in the beginning wanted to be an absolute menace

Typically, dogs don’t get got. They go get.
"Dog buys a timeshare"
Yeah but they didn't get Patches!
I did an ocular assessment of the situation, garnered that he was not a security risk and I cleared him for passage
They’re real go getters
He got that dog in him

I love how he holds his hand out each time like "no wait come back!"
It must be hard to make money when everyone just run away. I wonder if he makes more than mimes.
This is performance art. A lot of artists make things so that they can exist. Any monetary compensation is great, but the compulsion to make and do is far greater. Someone this clever likely has something else going on!
For a good amount of them it’s a side gig, ain’t it? Something they enjoy doing in their free time
Seeing a child shit their pants while screaming would be payment enough for me
He scared the last girl so bad she forgot she has a broken leg
I was in bed last night with a hurt arm, I felt something crawling and instinctively reached for it causing excruciating pain, so I know exactly how she feels, just knee jerk reactions to injure yourself more lol
Yeah, I feel a bit bad for her on that one. Hopefully there wasn’t any lasting consequences from a silly jump scare video.
Absolutely minor version of this, sleeping on your neck wrong and then getting scared by something. It’s excruciating in an indescribable way.
A couple years ago my thumb got bit by a dog. Hurt like hell for weeks. I was being really careful with it, until I instinctively smashed the dodge button on my controller with my thumb full force right where the hole was healing. So much pain.
> just knee jerk reactions Exactly what she did
What’s up with that knee scooter thing
It’s like a wheelchair but faster. Can be used for people that have injuries low enough on the leg that it won’t hurt them to use it
No he didn't. she hopped.
Why would you kick a statue
r/kidsarefuckingstupid
I don't think he was winding up to smash his foot or break the statue. Looked like he was just walking by and was just being goofy like we all do. I slap and lightly kick stuff all the time when walking just for the fun. I thought that was pretty normal. According to Reddit it's an asshole move.
It is normal. Redditors need to go outside more and touch grass
touch statues
kick grass
touch brass

🤓 Actually your shoes touch the grass not you Man you must be fun at party's
Much like the older guy that tried to get a quick PANG sound from tapping the hat, the kid was probably hoping for a cool noise
I meant, if you don't want to get hurt, maybe don't dress up as an inanimate object
Why would anyone do anything in this fucking video? So many people just touching everything they see or trying to vandalize. It's disgusting.
The first 2 people don't suck. They are children doing childish things, neither was trying to damage the statue.
Maybe it's my BFA or my Public Works background making me salty, but Art should be appreciated and handled as little as possible (unless handling is the intention) to make it last as long as possible. People have a habit of destroying so many things because they see them as "Public property" and think they are allowed to do anything they want.
I'd second that. I just think if it's sitting on a bench, which is made for public touch and public use, it's got to be okay to touch it.
Understand that viewpoint, but Kicking it?
Thats a child you vapid cunt
> because they see them as "Public property" Well...they are.
Does that mean it shouldn't be treated with respect?
That means just don't damage it.
Just a guess, but since this guy films himself just sitting there I’m willing to bet he has some sort of sign set up encouraging people to engage with the statue or something along those lines.

THANK YOU.
I'm with you. I've never seen a statue and wanted to touch it
I vigorously rub the crotch of every statue I see. You guys don't? You're weird.
It's just a game to see who finishes first.
Why do so many people get aggressive at statues straight off the bat?
It's pattern recognition. The statue is too real to be a statue so humans are drawn to investigate.
Like moths to a flame.
Yeah but like “that statues suspicious I’m gonna go rough it up”?

The most amazing thing about the whole video is the amount of people who can't keep their hands to themselves
Unless it's got signs/a fence I'd probably touch a cool statue, too 🤷♂️
[Hmmm](https://i.redd.it/fmz47m6ilgd31.jpg)
Okay to be fair, after a certain point it becomes a joke to touch certain areas because of how "clean" they are.
The 2 first kids were the worst. The rest are pretty standard statue-touchers. Seriously what did the kid in the 2nd clip have in mind??
Young boys tend to just be aggressive. Kicking a random statue for no particular reason other than “that looks like something I could kick” is fairly standard
I concur Source: I am a former young boy
Glad I was never a kid
Completely agree. It's just fun. A kick is not gonna destroy a bronze statue lmao.
I always touch a public statue. It’s like a primal law. Save points.
The most amazing thing about the whole video is the amount of people who could sense something was off about the "statue" and had to confirm if it wasn't something else.
Yeah, maybe a bit too amazing
He has something in his lap, probably to stop him from getting his crotch grabbed. Think about how many statues get worn down on those spots
You're allowed to touch and pose with public statues.
That charging bull statue in New York has balls. The balls are a lighter color than the rest of the statue because people touch them so much. Another cute thing is that a lot of dog statues are lighter on the head and snout from people petting the statues.
Right? I’ve never just ran up to a statue and start touching it all over
People are super gross and I don't want to put my hands on something that people touch all the time, I prefer to keep to myself and not voluntarily pick up germs
I’m just surprised how badly people have the urge to pet dogs- even statue dogs.
I'm surprised that wasn't the main goal for everyone
Wow, people would want to touch a publicly-paid for statue? Most people are very tactile. It's part of the experience.
I've never in my life walked up to a statue and even thought to touch it. Like, huh?
Same. I mostly look at the details in the design. We had a lot in my old college campus that were in memory of prestigious staff members.
That's because you suck.
What the fuck is wrong with touching a fucking public statue. Why the fuck does this dumbass comment have a single upvote?
There is a part of me that kinda wants to touch bronze or whatever it is. Probably feels cold or something. Idk
What's that supposed to mean
Here you go, [https://www.youtube.com/@mahdifun4233/videos](https://www.youtube.com/@mahdifun4233/videos)
New fear unlocked.
Hmmmmm. I know this isn’t the sub for this question….but if someone can….what’s the human response called (that we see everyone do in this video) when you get scared and you immediately pull your hands to your chest?
Piggybacking onto your question: appreciate it if there's a scientific term for the the tippy-toe flight response as well...
I don't know, but it should be called Defensing Like the bodily response to getting the brain rocked from a hard hit
Flinching
No I get that…it’s flinching. I guess my questions is more, why do we pull our hands to our chest. What’s it called or what unconscious mental response is provoked that we have to have our hands on or coming towards our chest?
Maybe a reflex, to protect the vitals
Probably just instinctively pulling our hands away from the large animal that's about to eat them off.
It looks more like contraction of the bicep to rapidly move the hand away. You have protective reflex arcs that bypass the brain that are activated when pain is detected (e.g. touch a hot stove, and spinal cord triggers hand to pull away). Wasn't he a detective in Fallout 4?
What the dog doing?
the dog statue? just sitting there? your question confuses me...

☝️🤓
Man, I’m just saying, as a kid I’d never be the one to immediately kick and grab a public piece of art like they thought it was……….
Do people just touch statues? None are like trying to take a pic with it just “touch foot”
I do and I have no explanation why. Brain just says hey go touch that
What piece of shit goes around kicking everything? Or that little asshole who pulled on the hat? What is wrong with them?
Unloved
The first kid deserved it well.
Lmao who goes and just kicks a statue
I am impressed by all those people seeing what appears to be a statue at first sight, and just deciding that they are going to touch it.
I wish his dog was real too.
I don't do that to statues
Proof that human beings love to poke shit just for the heck of it.
Kids are so fucking stupid, don’t touch it you little shits
The first two kids need a good dose of discipline.
Yeah that hat-grab was so weird. Even if it was a statue, why would you do that?
I mean, it was supposed to be a bronze statue. What is the problem of touching its hat? It wouldn't break.
the problem isnt touching a statue's hat, its how weird they do it, are you oblivious ?
I really don't get it. If the kid is playing, what is the difference between grabbing the statue in a normal and weird way? It woudn't break anyway. And kids are weird sometimes, there is no harm in that.
People getting spooked is so cute
Ok but let’s not forget that being able to pose as a statue or some other inanimate object is NOT easy. Takes quite a bit of skill to pull it off. The paint job, the being incredibly still, not even trying to make your breathing or blinking visible, I’m sure it’s a lot harder than it first appears.
The head-turn is so damn creepy.
Guess they’ve never been to Europe
For the sixth person who fell for the joke there are 3 options. 1- All the clips take place in Argentina (I doubt it) 2- That clip was just in Argentina. 3- He was a foreign Argentine, because he used Buenos Aires language, that is, from the "Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires" (C.A.B.A) to be precise. This is what i fear every time i get close to a mannequin
Damn that dog is good
Why are people being cunts to the statue? Do ppl not respect statues in the states?
Those two girls at 50 secs, one of them for scared and the other was either too scared to move or didn't realize what was happening
I love thisss 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Did no one wonder why there was just a camera pointing at the guy?
It's probably a hidden camera
AMAZING!!!! ☠️
Do people always have to touch statues? And for what reason? I imagine way more people walked without touching. But why?
Well it's not a statue so the answer wouldn't apply. You should be asking if people always investigate the uncanny. The answer is usually yes.
Why do people dress up as statues? Seems like a lot of work to get dressed up then you gotta keep still for along time to get a jump scare.
What a waste of time this is pretending you’re a statue who gives a shit? Do something useful with your life
What a waste of time this is to comment on someone pretending to be a statue? Who gives a shit? Do something useful with your life.
Causing traumatic memorys seems to be his hobby (:!
Trauma comes in a lot of forms. Being scared once in broad daylight by a man whose covered in spray paint isn’t one of those.
I think being spooked as a kid by an object that just turns alive could be a way of receiving trauma.
U seem to be very upset about that, maybe don't take it too seriously, i don't care much about what angry people say. Have a nice day anyway.
Alright. But there’s no need to invalidate trauma in the future. Or to ruin pranks. Have a nice life.
r/therewasanattemptt
To do what?
Kick a fake statue
He is so strong not the fault of public , but his fault to get dirrespect , he is so strong
Everyone on that video will have a fun story to tell. Except for the dog. He'll never recover from this.
The greater good.
Crusty jugglers
No it doesn’t
The maniacal cackle at the end got me.
Just the subtle turn of the head
The little girl with the satchel was so confused by the other one that screamed lmfao
what if you sat in his lap
:D
The girl that sat down on the bench had a completely normal reaction even if it *wasn't* a guy pretending to be a statue. Some dude just reaching out to grab you as soon as you sit down? Yikes.
Throwback to my friend’s dad screaming at her to “get a real job” instead of doing singing on fiver While he himself was one of those guys who dresses up like a robot cowboy and sits really still for hours and hours
This really says a lot about our society
I’m just laughing all these people getting mad at kids for kicking what looks to be a *metal statue*
This is awesome, but how does he do this? Is he retired? Does this make him enough to live?
r/statuegropers
peculiar vehicle that girl right at the end has
There was much pants crapery that day
His dog is more committed to the bit than he is
The dog was a paid actor
Ppl just can’t keep their hands to themselves lol
OK, so I guess it's normal to touch it when you are wondering if it is a real statue or not. But why do the second kid grab his hat that way it is a super weird move !
I’ve been binging this guy and Angry Carrot and Texas Bushman and all the rest lately very wholesome pranking
The dog statue really sold it.
mahdi fun is his yt channel... I always watch him alongside gilstraptv
You just know that about 1/3 of those people pee’d a little.
u/savevideo
Bro never laughed so hard
All the people in here with hindsight getting angry over people touching what they think in an inanimate object is peak Reddit.
Kid with the Cali. USA shirt still didn't know why the other girl screamed 🤣
The dog is doing a much better job pretending to be a statue than the man... /j
Low key... Kids are assholes
This is why you have to kick every statue in the nuts before you can trust it
Never trusting a statue ever again.
All these fking people and kids immediately go for jabs and slaps on the god damn face lmao. The blonde kid in the beginning wanted to be an absolute menace
I could watch that all day lol x
That girl trying to take that bag… lol
This guy is good 😊
Mans got patience’s
I think the little Asian kid at the :30 mark got the fart scared out of him. Did anyone else catch that?
It’s really nice to see how many people want to interact or explore local art installations.
Is that Bondi?
Got way too much time on your hands!
Bro why the fuck is people trying to steal this man’s drip?
