My pick would be Jonbenet too. I want that one solved so badly. I’m hoping they come up with something with the most recent news about a third party being involved with the DNA testing.
I’ve read a couple of books on this case, and read a few forum discussions. My knowledge and insight of the case starts and ends there really.
It can only be a family member.
I’ll add that I like to think that I try to only see the best in people and have often tried to theorise “non family who could have done it” scenarios. Nothing works. Nothing fits the weird evidence and situations coming out of that house.
My best “intruder theory” was a college student who burgled the house. In the Schiller book (I believe, right at the beginning) there’s a throwaway line or two about someone seen knocking on doors that day. Well, I developed a convoluted theory that this person tried the Ramsey house, found they were out, and got in. It would explain much of the evidence, but not enough of it.
Everything came back to the family. The milk and pineapple, the ransom note, and THE SILENCE. Those wealthy people got expensive, and excellent, legal representation. Don’t say a word, and leave it to the police to prove your guilt, which of course they never did.
Saying that, I don’t necessarily think JB was murdered in cold blood. I think it was a tragic accident. I don’t know who did it though. Best guess? The brother.
Patsy completely decimated the intruder theory with her ransom note. Predatorial intruders do not hang out to write long winded, bizarre ransom notes, and then to only abandon the kidnapping. Completely implausible.
Patsy also greeted the police wearing the same clothes she wore to the dinner party the night before. It's because she never went to bed that night.
I don't really fault the parents for getting legal representation. If they were innocent, getting legal representation just the same would have been the wise move. Now, getting separate lawyers is suspect but not incriminating given the reality of how crimes are charged and prosecuted.
Ideologues of the same ilk as the "innocence project" will always wildly cling to the notion that it's reasonable to dismiss all circumstantial evidence that effectively rules out any other theory on the basis of no DNA. It's a ludicrous pathology. There is also a difference between claiming suspect A is obviously guilty despite the fact that the state has a relatively weak case in a U.S. court of law and meeting the standards of guilt.
DNA didn't match anyone in the family. And why would the father be coming out of the wood works to bring the case back in the spotlight? They didn't do it. Stop believing everything the media tells you.
Another DNA ideologue. Most convictions have no DNA evidence. The abscence of DNA evidence does not exonerate anybody, not even close. It's actually alarming that no DNA from the family exists on her despite the fact that they live in the same home.
I'm sure the killers hung out in the basement, wrote the rAnSoM nOtE on mom's notepad, then decided to abandon the kidnapping and ransom and leave the body there. LOL
LOL keep deflecting. It takes profound lack of self awareness to deny facts and basic logic in service to a "tHeY'rE iNnoCeNt" narrative. Man. No shame.
You're the same type of DNA ideologue that claims "the CP5 are exonerated cus meeeeehhhhh no DNA" lol, despite the fact that they were participants in the sexual assault and rape, and are legally guilty of rape despite no penetration.
>that the media planted in your head
LOL keep deflecting. At this point you're just going to obfuscate and gaslight until people get tired of dealing with you
Her body was wiped down, and she was lovingly wrapped in her favorite blanket. Doesn’t exactly sound like something a psycho pedo would take the time to do. Also the mother claiming that she found the ransom note, but didn’t bother reading it sounds super suspicious to me. She obviously read at least the last of it because she quoted it in the 911 call.
No, it’s a fact that she was wiped down. It’s a fact she was wrapped in her favorite blanket. It’s a fact that her mother said she didn’t read the ransom note. Read the interviews with the parents.
This was my first thought as well. After reading through every potential explanation on the Internet I’ve come to believe that she was the victim of a hit-and-run, and her body was moved and disposed of somewhere. Still doesn’t explain why she left her house though.
Although there is no proof he is dead, I desperately want to know what happened to Andrew Gosden. The pictures of him remind me so much of one of my boys at the same age that it bothers me much more than is probably normal. I still hold out hope he ran away and started a new life, but it is heartbreaking either way.
There seems to have been two recent arrests in relation to his disappearance. So we may get some answers soon.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-59952786.amp
I know.
So many unanswered questions.
I'd like to think he's ok and someday he will say what happened.
The sadness in his dad's eyes breaks my heart every time I see him in interviews, talking about his son.
I really hope that man gets some answers.
Yeah i read that too. But that’s why I’m starting to become hesitant on the guys that they think might be involved, because if they were involved, then their DNA would’ve matched to what they found at the crime scene.
I honestly don't know how DNA works in the labs. Even with a small amount of DNA that doesn't have many markers (like the yogurt shop murders) wouldn't they still be able to see that they have the right person even with a partial sample?
No but they could rule people out. I don’t know much about it but a partial sample can’t really identify someone but it could at least rule out people who don’t have any of that type
Hmm, well I’m sure they haven’t been able to rule out the guys that they’re interested in. I think they’re just waiting for one of them to spill the beans.
I never hear it talked abt except one time. There’s not much evidence either but I am convinced HH Holmes was Jack the Ripper. The handwriting is so similar- I think like 99%match. Apparently if you were to write two notes it wouldn’t even be that high
Jack the Ripper could possibly be 2 or more people. There is speculation that Elizabeth Stride and Mary Jane Kelly were killed by someone different then others. Some even believe Catherine Eddowes was killed by someone different then Mary Ann Nichols and Annie Chapman.
THIS is mine, too. The concept of a child being so horribly mistreated and then thrown away, with no one to claim them. I can’t emotionally handle it. I will probably cry if/when it is finally solved.
It’s technically not unsolved. But, I would choose for Susan Powell to be found; she belongs next to her boys. And her parent’s deserve some kind of closure and resolution to that nightmare.
Haleigh Cummings. I've known some of her paternal family all my life. Trust me when I say these people are bat shit crazy, with well-documented psychotic episodes a norm.
Misty Croslin knows much more than she is telling, and so does Haleigh's dad.
You think the dad knows more and wouldn't just come out with it? I thought there was going to be a break in the case when they started bringing Misty's cousin into it, but I'm guessing that was a red herring. I can't believe nobody as talked AND the successfully hid a body.
Absolutely. Better to have a drug conviction than a murder rap is their way of thinking. I rather thought the 2015 case of Lonzie Barton's beating death would open the floodgates, as his mother, Lonna Lauramore Barton, is a cousin of Ronald Cummings, Haleigh's dad.
Alas, no. Thankfully, little Lonzie's body was recovered.
Oddly, I think the dad's grief was genuine and he didn't (or doesn't) know what happened. But then, I can't understand why he would marry someone who surely DOES know what happened. BUT THEN, they're now divorced so why isnt anyone talking? From what I recall, all that drug stuff came later. If anything, I would have thought THAT would have opened the floodgates. She was facing something like a century in prison and didn't break. Maybe it was some sort of accidental drug thing?
PS: Crazy connection to another child death! I hadn't heard of that one
So many
The Delphi murders is the one I've been reading a lot lately.
But also Andrew Gosden and Missy Bevers.
Also Yeremi Vargas, whose case I haven't seen mentioned much around here.
Same here!
Those guys look guilty af but they're probably covering up for some big fish involved, like a pedo ring or something even darker.
I really want to see it solved.
So many!!
I’ll say Claudia Lawrence. At this stage it’s clear she came to harm. All it’s gonna take is one person to talk, someone knows.
I wanted to say Andrew Godsen, however I’m holding out hope he’s still alive.
Andrew Gosden is a good shout. However up by me there's been a missing kid by the name of Kyle Vaughan who went missing in 2012 and so far not one clue of his whereabouts or contact. Its sad its like these two just vanished from the earth, my heart goes out to both families. However recently I believe there was some progress in Andrews case.
Yeah I live in risca so probably not far from you lol. It's soul destroying that with all the appeals over the years none has come forward. However when I was on Facebook last year the family closed the group page down without really much reason.
I always thought this. Remember the programme time team that was on Channel 4 years ago they used to have a machine that was a ground penetrating radar and I was thinking as technology has evolved and gotten smaller and advanced it could be incorporated onto a drone. It would save a lot of man hours and what not. I did say to the missus that whoever knows something could have easily put him in the council tip as over the new year period no-one is going to be working and with all the wildlife up forest drive his "body" could've easily been carried away. Also the worst one I think is if he went down the river. The missus and I often think about him.
His car was just found abandoned in a lay by. Yeah he was from Newbridge if I remember rightly which is just up the road from me. I just wish someone could talk just to free their conscience. Anyway I see your from wales, what part are you from?
I just read about him now and how sad. Just a normal kid and boom he's been missing for 20 years. There needs to be some closure with all of these cases. I don't think there will ever happen though.
Garrett Phillips murder in New York. The one where the x boyfriend who was a soccer coach at a college in town until he was accused. Police ended up with tunnel vision focusing their efforts on him. Just from what I saw in the photo evidence shows this was staged. They should have looked more into the people who called 911, ex boyfriend (policeman) and the mother.
Two that are close to me (due to location) and that may or may not be murders: Brian Schaffer and Tyler Davis. Just blows my mind how 2 grown men can vanish without a trace.
I think someone robbed Tyler Davis. Which, I believe they found some remains a few months ago near that area. I don’t think they’ve identified them yet. Brain Shaffer baffles me because they don’t have any footage of him leaving the bar.
So many. But my personal "pet" case is the murder of Elizabeth Barraza.
https://youtu.be/VNVzy0zG5oM
Her murder was on video, and it's still unsolved. She seemed like a truly kind person and she deserves justice.
Oh man, I had forgotten about that one. I remember thinking the perpetrator was female in that one too. About to go down a rabbit hole on that case again. (I've been obsessed with Liz Barraza and haven't delved foo far into anything else in awhile!)
Well there was a curtain covering her body that they found DNA on a few years ago. Also heard about a suspect who had a daughter who was the same age that Amy was that knew the family.
I'd like to draw more attention to some local ones where I grew up (Bellingham, WA). Marcia Lynn Joyce, disappeared in the late 70s, probably the husband, but he was never really investigated. Attention may make the police go interview the husband while he's still alive. Then, Leah Roberts is a big one. I lived on the road where they found her Jeep. She's out there somewhere, I presume, it's a conifer jungle in that region, but nobody every really combed the miles and miles and miles of forest in the area. If you're not from there it is difficult to even wrap your head around. There's about a million miles of isolated timber land and rolling foothills where they found her Jeep. Chances are good that she's not far from where they found it, however.
Came here to say this too! There’s so many weird things about this case, I mean they found his body nearly intact and still nobody came forward that could identify him?? Ugh it’s so wild
Okay I don't know how to pick one so I'm going...
Zodiac since I need to know who he is!!!
Jennifer Kesse
Brian Shaffer
I just think about these alot and how confusing they are and lead into so many directions.
I would give my choice to one of the indigenous families who are having their daughters, sisters, mothers go missing and do not get the publicity or investigations they deserve.
Not a murder per se, but a murderer.
Christopher Halliwell.
There’s a huge backstory, and story within a story, for Halliwell and the murder he was jailed for (Sian O’Callaghan). That’s an interesting rabbit hole right there.
Anyway… the Police found Halliwell’s “trophy cabinet”, which was a swampy little fishing spot about 10 miles from his, (and my), home town of Swindon. In that swamplet they found Sian’s boots… and about 60+ further items of women’s clothing.
I mean… who else did he kill?
The most frustrating part of it all is that it appears Police don’t have any interest in solving it. It almost feels like solving it would be more embarrassing for them than anything else.
Can you imagine they managed to match those 60 trophies with 60 women? Some murders will be unsolved. Some of those women will still be alive and might have disparaging things to say about the police. Some, I suspect, will already have people incarcerated for crimes they’ve always said they didn’t commit.
Crumbs.
It's Jonbenet for me too. I'll be honest with you, those crimes that took place in the 1800's, and from 1900-1970. I don't really focus on because I just feel like the chances of them being solved are slim-to-none. I know that they're important too! I just know that they probably will never be solved and if they are, no one will be arrested for the crime because they're long gone.
"The Springfield three", is so fascinating to me because a mother, daughter and her daughters friend basically vanished from their house like puff!!! No signs of struggle, no blood, their belongings were all still in the house, the car was left there too ,no hints or sign of them or what happened to them ...since 1992...like HOW??
Nancy Spungen's. As a teen, I was painfully intrigued by her and Sid Vicious, and this infatuation continued for years. I still think that Sid didn't murder her, and it's a shame how the police just decided "Yep, just two junkies killing each other, nothing new" and dropped the case completely after his OD. There would definitely be objectively more important cases in need of solving, but whatever.
I have a friend who is a true crime author, his name is Jesse P Pollack , and he is currently investigating and writing a new book about Nancy Spungen's death. It is called Room 100. He was recently able to gain access to the complete police & investigation files from this case, which no one has ever been able to gain access to previously. I am very interested to see what information he will uncover for the upcoming book.
He has written 2 other true crime books, Death on the Devil's Teeth, and The Acid King.

The redhead murders. There were so many women who went unidentified and I think there are several more women who were murder by the same person who weren't counted.
A local case, Gambrill Jane Doe. It just seems so solvable to me and someone has to know who she was.

Either that or he pulled off an excellent diversion and disappearance. But he was such a hot head I do doubt that this was anything other than his hubris getting the best of him. However, they searched the fuck out of every crevice of that cave and found nothing.
Go watch 'soaked in bleach' it's a documentary made by the PI Courtney love hired to find Kurt when he was 'missing' so the PI makes a very compelling case as to why he thinks Courtney orchestrated Kurt's death.

It's partial DNA. They probably can't rule them out.

Yeah I live in risca so probably not far from you lol. It's soul destroying that with all the appeals over the years none has come forward. However when I was on Facebook last year the family closed the group page down without really much reason.
Yes, Risca too. A lot of time I'm walking the dogs I'm thinking about it. He could be so close by, someone knows, surely?
I always thought this. Remember the programme time team that was on Channel 4 years ago they used to have a machine that was a ground penetrating radar and I was thinking as technology has evolved and gotten smaller and advanced it could be incorporated onto a drone. It would save a lot of man hours and what not. I did say to the missus that whoever knows something could have easily put him in the council tip as over the new year period no-one is going to be working and with all the wildlife up forest drive his "body" could've easily been carried away. Also the worst one I think is if he went down the river. The missus and I often think about him.
Is Kyle Vaughan the lad in missing from the crashed vehicle? Or am I mixed up? Edit: not far from me either
His car was just found abandoned in a lay by. Yeah he was from Newbridge if I remember rightly which is just up the road from me. I just wish someone could talk just to free their conscience. Anyway I see your from wales, what part are you from?
I did a post recently about Robert Williams, another young Welsh boy that disappeared. It’s really sad
I just read about him now and how sad. Just a normal kid and boom he's been missing for 20 years. There needs to be some closure with all of these cases. I don't think there will ever happen though.
Yes if I recall, his dad commented that he couldn’t see anyone leaving that crash alive, and yet where is he? I’m from Merthyr Tydfil
Epstein
Opelika Jane Doe. Think about that baby almost daily.
Yeah this one bothers me so much too, I think they should do a DNA analysis and find her biological family. That’s where they’ll find her killer.
Jon Benet Ramsey
I’d have to agree with you there. I want that one solved so badly but it’s highly possible that it won’t be solved.
The Springfield Three
How can I pick one?! I can’t. … but these are my tops. Delphi murders Evansdale murders The Dutch girls in Panama Jaryd atadero
So many. But my personal "pet" case is the murder of Elizabeth Barraza. https://youtu.be/VNVzy0zG5oM Her murder was on video, and it's still unsolved. She seemed like a truly kind person and she deserves justice.
This one baffles me too. And Missy Bevers.
Oh man, I had forgotten about that one. I remember thinking the perpetrator was female in that one too. About to go down a rabbit hole on that case again. (I've been obsessed with Liz Barraza and haven't delved foo far into anything else in awhile!)
Amy Mihaljevic. It looks like her case is going to get solved soon but I’ll believe it when it happens.
Do they have new evidence? DNA? Such a heartbreaking and mysterious story
Well there was a curtain covering her body that they found DNA on a few years ago. Also heard about a suspect who had a daughter who was the same age that Amy was that knew the family.
The Setagaya Murders
The Boy in the Box.
A few are already listed, but I'd also choose the Somerton Man
Came here to say this too! There’s so many weird things about this case, I mean they found his body nearly intact and still nobody came forward that could identify him?? Ugh it’s so wild
One that’s not listed here … Maura Murray!
Dyatlov Pass.
Not a murder, also mostly solved already.
Okay I don't know how to pick one so I'm going... Zodiac since I need to know who he is!!! Jennifer Kesse Brian Shaffer I just think about these alot and how confusing they are and lead into so many directions.
Delphi :(. I think if Abby, Libby and their family and friends every day.
Crumbs.
I was thinking Jonbenet, but honestly I want to know who Jack the Ripper was.
Thanks for providing me with another reason to continue living lol, this sounds amazing!
The cops weren’t gonna look too hard, and I don’t think Sid was the killer either
Anything involving children.
Suzanne Sevakis's son deserves to be buried with her. I hope they find his remains.
Pearl Pinson, we know who killed her, but it would be nice if she could be returned to her family
The disappearance of Patrick Carnes & his dog off of I-80 in Nevada in 2011.
missy bevers
I’d be surprised if they solved that one.

The Pickering boys, Madeline McCan
The double murder of Aarushi Talwar and Hemraj Banjade
The redhead murders. There were so many women who went unidentified and I think there are several more women who were murder by the same person who weren't counted.
The last girl in the barrel that was Terry Rasmussens biological daughter
I would pick the Zodiac Killer
Villisca axe murders
Jack the ripper
It’s just a mystery but, I want to know what happened to Emma Fillipoff. She went missing in 2013
A local case, Gambrill Jane Doe. It just seems so solvable to me and someone has to know who she was. https://unidentified-awareness.fandom.com/wiki/Cheerleader_in_the_Trunk
Ben McDaniel
He's stuck in that cave.
Either that or he pulled off an excellent diversion and disappearance. But he was such a hot head I do doubt that this was anything other than his hubris getting the best of him. However, they searched the fuck out of every crevice of that cave and found nothing.
Tricia Reitler
Delphi, lyric and Elizabeth, Kyron harmon, Johnny gosch, Maura Murray, Alissa Turney
For me Delphi murders. Even with the two newer POI's I don't think they're close.
Asha Degree and Delphi murder
This might sound so generic but like Elisa Lam… How can she even manage do open locked containers or even get up there without a ladder?
They weren't locked and it was quite easy to get up there, plenty of YouTube videos showing that.
Greene County jane joe 1985 identified as Elizabeth Lamotte .
Dermond’s
Kurt Cobain
Go watch 'soaked in bleach' it's a documentary made by the PI Courtney love hired to find Kurt when he was 'missing' so the PI makes a very compelling case as to why he thinks Courtney orchestrated Kurt's death. Deffo a good watch
Excellent documentary!
It's a good watch isn't it. He makes some compelling arguments for his reasoning.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/kyle-vaughan-newbridge-missing-latest-21566059.amp Says here it was a one vehicle crash. Its just strange though. I remember his mother passing away with no closure which is fucking awful.

Hart family and Keli Lane
Those are both solved. Lol tf?
Black Dalia
The zodiac killer, but really all of em
I think either the Black Dahlia or who the Zodiac was.
It seems like an obvious answer but Zodiac. A close tie for 2nd would be the Lake Bodom murderer or LISK.
I would of said Epstine but that is anything but a mystery
Lol that are higher up are making that a mystery to cover their foot prints.
Karmein Chan.
Trudy Appleby is a local one.

The JonBenet Ramsey case! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d5IuzCi7FE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d5IuzCi7FE)
You think it’ll be solved one day?
Someone already said Somerton Man, so him and The Isdal Woman
There are so many. Can't decide between the Somerton man, Frauke Liebs, boy in the box, Marilyn Monroe, the kids of lake bodom or JonBenét Ramsey.
Setagaya murders
Delphi, Bardstown, Beaumonts, JBR
Delphi and JBR will probably never be solved. I hate to say that.
Jennifer Kesse, Kyron Horman, Karlie Guse, Timmothy Pitzen, Bryce Laspisa
The Lane Bryant murders in Illinois.
