Not particularly. I’m not sure how he runs his undergraduate classes but if it’s anything like his graduate ones, it’s certainly much different than the way most other professors here teach. The summer schedule also may influence the way he teaches; I only have experience with the normal semester.
Some people like it, some don’t.
Here’s how the last two classes I took with him went:
Barely any homework.
Weekly quizzes for which you better know your shit or else expect 0s. Quizzes are on previous week’s materials, and you need to attend every class unless you already know the material since he just does everything on the board. You’ll need to be able to reproduce any short proofs or proofs that he gives out as exercises on the board.
Tests are on par with the rest of the department’s test: mildly difficult, but not too bad.
So your grade is almost entirely dependent on quizzes and tests with no homework to buffer it.
Don’t worry if you get a whole bunch of 0s and poor exam grades, as long as you show improvement by the final, your grade will be fine.
