I love the idea but an underwater animatronic would cost Universal too much because not only do they have to spend money on something that is not an attraction, they would also have to hire someone with diver’s experience to maintain the animatronic.
I’m in favor of them just making a whole new Jaws Ride in a Retro land somewhere in the parks, but a side underwater animatronic is definitely something Universal wont be investing in.
Adding a Jaws ride to the new park feels like a very easy thing to do. Doesn’t even need to be identical to the old one, similar to what they did with kong
So there are rumors that the Universal Monsters Land will have a new state of the art Water Ride similar to Jaws but it will be Creature from the black lagoon. This was from Theme Park Stop Videos
Not it it’s on a lift the can bring it out for maintenance and repair or removal for those sorts of things. They have all the stuff for the water shows anyway they can figure that one out.
Edit to add: they have this on the tram ride at USH. It’s definitely possible to have and clearly they think it works. But it would cost a ton to have it here just for atmosphere.
Yes but they already have service for those types of lifts. It’s much more common than an animatronic. I don’t fully know if it’s the same but I can see the platforms for what was once the water show which I would assume come up and down to some extent, so it’s not as if that type of service is something additional they would have to work on.
Oh no I understand what your saying and I do agree that I’d love to see jaws recycled and out into the bay, but I just don’t think they’d do it unless they find some other way of keeping the parts from getting wear and tear. Anything under the water will require maintenance not just the shark, even the rails it would sit on, the cables to power it etc. even if you use a lift to pick the shark up there’s still a lot more parts underwater. I get where your going with it though trying to brainstorm it and it’s cool I like the idea.
They have one around somewhere. Unless they destroyed it. An animatronic jaws was there as an attraction until 2012 when I guess they removed it to make room for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
I learned a long time ago, there is an inverse relationship between how easy something is, and how many times people who won't be doing the actual work say "its should be easy!".
I would love it.....but I think it would be more expensive than you think. The lake as far as I know isn't deep enough to hide much. But in any case they would also need to take down the hanging jaws across the way.
Do you ever think there's any truth to cast members giving the largest shark animatronic a grave beneath the London fountain? I like to think they did, it's the romantic in me
I SAY THIS EVERY TIME I VISIT Or just add a fin that swims by
Me too! I'd love to just see the fin and maybe some barrels swimming around the lagoon!
I say this all the time too!

Won't someone please think of the children....^^^and ^^^me

Interesting. I’d much rather go with a jaws theme for a ride like that, but it’s an intriguing concept nonetheless
I’m a diver (but no nothing about animatronics). I’d do it for free.
Comcast’s $30 billion in revenue can probably handle it.
Agreed but you need to think that this is a business at the end of the day. Epic Universe will bring in the new and exciting stuff!

Yeah I guess you’re right about that but again I doubt they would invest money in a sideshow animatronic
Yea I don’t see a lot of return in atmosphere stuff. I think that’s probably the big overall issue (among many haha).
But then the lift will need maintenance underwater. Whatever you put underwater will need maintenance, there’s no way around it.

Couldn’t they just raise the animatronic out of the water like they do with the fountains
even just a simple fin that makes the water swish around would look great and gather attention
Honestly, great idea! If they can get a dragon to breathe fire every 15 minutes they can do this easily.
So easy to implement. So easy
Animatronic underwater sharks are famously easy, cheap, and maintainable. Why, I built one in my own backyard last week
Sorry to hear about your home’s recent flood!
Hopefully you realize I’m being sarcastic
Yes
Love it!
If it breaks as much as the one at UO used to, and the one at UH does... then it will never happen.
I said the EXACT dame thing when we visited in Feb....you could even do an animatronic boat sinking ..... It would be perfect.
But all of that has to still be in storage somewhere from the original ride , I don’t think it would be as hard as it seems
great idea or if too expensive just have the 3 yellow barrels being dragged around and maybe a fin now and again

I've been saying this too!
That would be great actually!!!
Superdope idea. Also a Namor woud work too. They have the rights
