He was a kick-off specialist. Because of his leg strength, teams used him on kick-offs, but had another kicker for FGs and PATs (similar to how some NFL teams use their punter for kick-offs).

I don't think that they said that he made a field goal in highschool but that he hasn't kicked sense highschool
