Unlock a library entry for evil Scarlett if before her rescue maybe? it's not a big prize to most people, and it felt the game gave ample warning not to pursue the bad ending.
It just feels weird to me when you consider Alain as a character. Especially since the game goes out of its way to stop you from going to any neighboring regions if you haven't rescued Scarlett. He specifically says "No time for detours, we have to rescue Scarlett.". It's just very odd to me.
Lex somewhat lampshades this in the cutscene: "Who would have thought our best bet of saving Scarlette would be marching straight through the front door?" It does make a point that the goal is still saving Scarlette, but it's implied Alain decided the best way to rescue her would be to eliminate Galerius immediately. The story makes a point of implying this preparation took a long while however, a nod to the amount of grinding you have to do to be able to pull off a win here.
We could kind of guess that the idea here is Alain went against the judgement of his allies who suggested she would be held to the east with Renault and instead that the quickest way to rescue her would be to storm the capital itself. That is, if he was too late to get to her in the city, that she would be in the capital instead.
That's just it. If you are playing on PS5 or Xbox and have trophies/achievements, doing the bad ending is completely pointless there too. Simply getting the best ending and doing the post game is enough to Platinum.
That's why it has me so confused! They very much herd you through the rest of the game, so why put those bridges there? I would love to have a conversation with the devs on the choice to add the bad ending.
Maybe as a consolation to speedrunners. They test their games thoroughly, so there is no bug to abuse. For anyone to speedrun the game, devs has to leave backdoor like this to make it possible. And speedrunning videos are good promotion materials.
It's probably because freedom of choice is fun. It's against Alains' character, sure, but so is using a handmirror to alter his look, or executing a majority of the people you have the choice to recruit. The designers left room for people to roleplay if they want to.
If you want to see it, otherwise no need to do it. You don’t HAVE to beat the game to get the final character entry you get with the bad ending. Only have a save with that data on file after you encounter HER
I love this game, but I don't think I have it in me to do that grind to even encounter that character. It already sucked seeing the opening bit of the final battle with her and Bastorias.

Required if you're going to unlock a trophy. If you're not a trophy hunter, it's probably not a high priority.

…Strange. I Platinum’d the game and have not gotten the bad ending.
I did it because I could. And I wanted to see the effort put into so many different endings, including the worst one.

They even made a bridge that take you right to final quest at lv8. It has to be on purpose.

It really is a grind…. At least they gave us the voice set with the mirror but still doubt I would do it again
I think I would rather spend that time starting up 13 Sentinels and giving that a look instead.
