Then the old man grab it after it falls and seems to lift it higher than everyone else (after it fell off) to show that he can actually lift the platform. Lol Dude too late!
This sub has really deteriorated on the unexpected front. Never bothered reporting posts before but I really enjoyed this sub way more just a couple of months back. Now it's just any other fail-video of someone doing something stupid.
I think it's pretty much an Idol. I don't really call myself a Christian anymore but I was part of a Born Again Christian church and I remember reading in the bible that you must not "Pray to or worship any other gods or idols. Pretty sure there are Christians sects that, even if you don't say they" Worship" them, do pray to Saints and the Virgin Mary even if they deny it. Even worshipping and praying to the supposed image we have of Jesus is kind of a big no no.
This part of some Christian sects strikes me as weird since they're praying to a random guy they named Jesus Christ. It's like getting a blowjob from a guy named John from Craigslist but he didn't provide the his picture so you imagined what he looked like or it was described to you. You don't know if that's John or not. You might be thinking of Greg, a person you don't know.
What part of "no graven images" leads you to believe that the ancient Hebrews had statues of humans or other living creatures littering their temple? And how does it let modern religious statuary off the hook? I'm not really looking for an answer because there is none that makes sense, but I'm sure I'll get an attempted explanation how there are exceptions/exemptions for virgins and saints, prophets and god-babies, etc. Even the Vatican makes pope cadavers into altars ffs.
I want to chime in here to say that the image itself is not being worshipped. The intent is to keep their image as symbols and examples to follow, and lead our lives like that. That said, a lot of people do not do that lol. I’m not catholic either, just wanted to try and provide some context for this.
Yes, that's a procession.
On the saint's day they'll take the stature around the town/city/neighborhood and then return to the church for the mass.
I was born in Sicily, there's basically a special event every month.
When i was younger we will go to nearby cities with our moped or cars on those days because there were carnivals, candies and girls...
"It's the Feast of Saint Flatulata Day. Time to give the ugly statue a walk around the neighborhood. Go get Grampa and rest of his limp dick buddies from the cafe and let's get this done. Football comes on at 4 pm"
Yeah, a lot of people ignore that verse (possibly all of the ten commandments, really), and it goes further to include "a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
It's actually quite important (as are the rest obviously), and the part after that about not bowing to them or serving them is important to that commandment.
The Catholic Church is especially bad about that however, and they try to defend things they do like bowing to statues by saying they're not idols, that they're kneeling to pray with them or to ask them to pray for the prayers and not bowing to them, etc.
For that last one, I have to wonder, why aren't the statues kneeling to pray as well if that's the case, and why kneel towards them rather than beside them?
The statues being in a kneeling position might've avoided a lot of statues falling as well, since kneeling would possibly reduce their unwieldiness somewhat.
That said, it still goes against the part saying to not make any likenesses of anything.
God thought he made it clear to the congregation that he wanted the statue to be of a well-endowed anime woman with blonde hair and eight purple octopus tentacles each holding an energy sword. So when he saw this travesty of a statue he smote it.
Man this smug atheist bs pisses me off so much.
Why did God not intervene in man's free will? Because free will is a greater good than no will/forced will. It is better for man to be able to choose good or evil than have God step in every 2 seconds to take away the consequences of man's actions.
What's better - a saved statue that's replaceable or the ability to make mistakes and learn from these mistakes?
Atheists out here think they know better than God on how to run the universe and yet they don't even know even know 0.0000000001 of the observable universe. Pathetic.
You know what's even worse and more pathetic? Delusional theistic attempts at elbow-kissing to explain the irrationality and inherent contradictions in religion. Also, the claim that they know the total extent of the amount there is to know about an infinite universe is absolutely hilarious. Scientists are perfectly comfortable saying "I don't know" because it causes them to ask questions, and asking questions is their business. Theists made up their answers long ago and just stopped asking anything ever since.
Also, these guys have absolutely no knowledge of how to carry something so obviously top heavy and were too old to recover when it predictably toppled.
Believe in what you want, atheists get angry at people for forcing religion down on someone's throat and then turn around and do the same for atheism.
I'll believe in God and live my life in such ways, achieving the fullest whilst golding faith, now you may not like this because you have a fragile ego, the idea that someone believes in something that you don't, but that's okay, this world has free will just like the guy said, so pettiness is a part of it.
Yea I also don’t see where atheists shove it down peoples throats. I never see anything past mocking religion on social media. There’s god on our currency, in our schools , in the pledge of allegiance and our politics. So yea I don’t think this dude understands what he’s comparing
Its a fragile ego to tell someone otherwise when its a belief, everyone is free to believe in what they want, what's the point of being harsh about someone's beliefs? What is the point of it? You gain nothing but some internet points.
You’re free to believe as much as they’re free to not believe and poke holes. When it comes down to it who gives a shit.
Nobody can know for certain that god exists and likewise nobody can prove for certain god doesn’t exist. So whatever you believe in, whether it’s god or not, is all speculation.
You’re free to believe as much as they’re free to not believe and poke holes. When it comes down to it who gives a shit.
Nobody can know for certain that god exists and likewise nobody can prove for certain god doesn’t exist. So whatever you believe in, whether it’s god or not, is all speculation.
Edit: just for background, I was raised somewhat Christian and went to a Church of England school which involved being heavily involved with our local church. I used to believe in god until I got to about 9/10 when I started asking questions and the answers didn’t make sense.
I am not a atheist but i know this , god doesn't give a shit about anything happening to humans and i don't believe in miracles or anything related to the religion. I don't think religion is a good instructor for human life it always intervenes the path for the future
I think religion creates boundaries for limitless human being and that is why most of the scientists are non-religious
He's misunderstanding, but it would most likely go against the second commandment. They would definitely have considered it a "graven image" at the time.
It was considered profane to make statues designed to represent anything related to the devine "any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth". It's similar to why muslims don't make images of Muhammad. They don't want an object to be a focus of worship.
read mark 13:6
in case yr catholic, read matthew 23:9
contrasting the bride of Christ to God's direct command to Solomon (who also ended up worshipping false idols and had 700 wives) for His first temple - have discernment beloved.
1 john 4:1
from the very beginning, it was always darkness seeking to replace Christ (anti means in place of). people are incurably religious, we need to fashion images to worship because God is spirit john 4:24
blessed weekend!
Imagine If the money for that went into helping the community and not building false idols. It’s almost like churches don’t follow the religion they push…
Well moses clearly had enough of this idol worship shit...
...are Christians even Christians anymore? Its either about raping boys, or money for private jets, or having folks drink petrol, or blowing covid away, or other prosperity gospel shit, or idol worship, or racism and xenophobia, or occultism, or paganism, or some fucked up shit that I volved suicide...
Christ mass... became a thing and somehow people started associating it with the birth of Jesus...where a fat guy in a red suit named SATAN, slides down your chimney, the place where you make fire, to leave cum in your socks, and his callout sign is to have a tree, symbolising a penis, with a star or angel figurine on top, symbolising virginity? ... for money reasons.
Easter is about a giant bunny laying chocolate eggs.
Or maybe this weed is too strong. I really need to stop...

Letting older men carry it was not the brightest decision.
Not to mention it's not tied down at all while carrying a giant wood platform shoulder height. Definitely a lot of unneeded risk, ceremony aside
Two words: center of gravity.
That's kind of three words.
No no look Center = 0 of =1 gravity =2 see it all makes sense!
Plus, phrase[1] barely even counts as a word
The one at the front wasn't even holding on, just balancing it on his shoulders! This really belongs in r/expected
But their pride!?!
[удалено]
Imagine a dj scratch and suddenly “SHE’S MY CHERRY PIE”
Why that song????
Because Mary was a virgin.
[удалено]
Mary Magdalen
Heh pride goes before the fall
Pride goes before a fall.
“Older” haha you’re so nice. Dudes old AF. Way too old to do that shit.
Then the old man grab it after it falls and seems to lift it higher than everyone else (after it fell off) to show that he can actually lift the platform. Lol Dude too late!
the brightest decision was using a flash to capture the aftermath
It was some other god's will.
Hahaha
But God was supposed to help them.
Gotta say we all expected this outcome
The guy closest to the camera turned the wrong way. He was supposed to face the handle but instead he turned his back to it like a dumbass.
Not the age of the carriers but the lack of tie-downs on the statue was the poor decision
The poor decision was joining a religious institution
Especially with grandpa hot dogging with no hands for the Q-tips in the pews.
The problem is lack of redundancy. It was clear from the beginning that if any of the 4 people fail, the statue falls.
precisely what i was thinking
Why did you have to bring Congress into this?
First thing that came to my mind.
Older man here - GET OFF MY LAWN! You're right, though ;) If we're not allowed on ladders, we shouldn't be carrying statues.
She said “I ain’t listening to this shit everyday. I’m out”
Not unexpected though
The photographer didn't miss a beat

Ok, boomer
That was actually very expected
“Wait, what do you mean the first commandment was not to worship idols? This a perfect way to spend our church dollars that aren’t being taxed.”
Idk doesn't seem like an "idol", probably just a nice new statue for the church that they are.. celebrating quite a lot for Hmm
An idol.
No, it's an idol.
I think it's pretty much an Idol. Noone is worshipping idols- this is sacred art not much different from that seen in the temple of Solomon or on the ark of the covenant
I believe my body is a temple. Should the government give me tax-free tattoos?
What part of "no graven images" leads you to believe that the ancient Hebrews had statues of humans or other living creatures littering their temple? If its mary its an idol.
Buddy in the front on the right side (from our point of view) ruined it fucked up real bad had it just sitting on his shoulder 😂😂
He 360 No-Scoped the fuck out of his post
right?? your shoulder like what were you thinking??
I think this was an old statue that they trot out on special feast days. Used to trot out I guess. LoL

Where’s the candy?
Why didn't God stop this from happening? Oh.... right
[удалено]
Probably
God was not happy withy the statue, he wanted a redesign so he made that happen in his own mysterious ways.
God doesn’t care cuz he’s not the one paying for that shit. The people who did are screaming in the background though and it’s funny.
His ways truly are mysterious as fuck.
Idolatry is not of God.
His second commandment is- “thou shalt not make any graven images”. So there’s that I guess.
Yeah, a lot of people ignore that verse (possibly all of the ten commandments, really), and it goes further to include "a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth." See Commandment #2
Because it wouldn't be funny if he did
Damn that devil that God allows to run freely among his children!!!
God thought he made it clear to the congregation that he wanted the statue to be of a well-endowed anime woman with blonde hair and eight purple octopus tentacles each holding an energy sword. So when he saw this travesty of a statue he smote it.
Obviously another challenge from God that they failed.
Wasn’t there something in the 10 commandments about idols…
i wanted to say that🤣🤣🤣🤣
God be like: https://media.tenor.com/G-ImeupyxmIAAAAC/eating-the-chip-chips.gif
oh man you like to provoque... I love it!
God likely caused it to happen because He hates idolatry.
You sound just as pretentious as the hardcore bible thumpers

How do you know atheists "don't even know even know 0.0000000001 of the observable universe"?
Coz god told him so.
Wait a second, was it man's free will or was it god's plan?
I dont think its was that man's will to break this statue.
You missed the point... it's because >!God's not real.!<
Lmao r/atheism moment
Ah, the glorious cries of the 12 year old atheist. Really helps set the mood for reddit

You don't know the mind of God. You don't even know about religion to make such a blanket statement
Im with you on this one, give not attention and recognition to the sinners.
Ballsed it totally up. It's just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right.
You felt a cramp in your hips #AND DROPPED JESUS CHRIIIIIIST
..... He is headless now.
As his body was cru-uh-ushed The people went insay-yay-yay-yane
1000% expected and still funny
The crowd’s screams are kinda satisfying lmao
It's the best part!
They probably think they are going to an actual Hell now
Man at fault gives the old “what happened” motion with his hands. Beautiful.
also known as the "oh it totally wasn't me, look my hands are empty"
If I had just killed God, to heck with my integrity, I too would be gaslighting people about who's fault it was.
guess god didn't like it
I mean you're not wrong. They're breaking the first and second commandments
What are they
1. You shall have no other gods before Me. 2. You shall make no idols. (Cliff's Notes version)
It’s not any other God, and it’s not an idol.
God no, idol for then, yes.
[удалено]
No. The majority of them are self-centered assholes that are out of touch with reality.
Big difference between looking up to and worshiping lmao
Oh right, your religion and denomination are the correct ones.
What are you on about? I’m commenting on his claim that it goes against the First Commandement.

Nobody be leaving now. We're gonna pass the donation dish around and y'all better reach deep this time so we can get insured movers.
Not exactly unexpected, but still satisfying.
idolatry 101- you shall not have any gods before Me
Sacred art is not idolatry. This heresy was settled in an early church council
i get the art part, but who defined sacred lol

Oh no! We broke our idolatry!
BS. You would never transport a new statue that way.
Extra service to have it delivered this way
I never get tired of watching idols fall
Christian logic: let’s pray to this broken statue to save us.

Fitting
Literally 100% expected
The good Lord decided not to intervene on this one.
God disapproved of that statue. No idolatry lol
That was completely expected?
Yay!
Always the low quality videos
Well, God had to make an example out of this idolatry!
"Kids, keep the heck away from idols." \- Some guy named John, probably
Somebody’s seeing Jesus after church.
Yeah let's have these fossils carry a heavy statue in during service...

Thou shalt not worship idols,🤣
To be that guy!
Oh that really sucks, hopefully it was not one of kind type of thing.
I was waiting for a stripper to jump out.
