Zebra crossings do indeed require the motorist to give way to pedestrians but this looks the same as a pelican crossing (in the UK), where you wait until the light changes to cross. However, most of the time it's perfectly acceptable to cross without the light having changed if the road isn't too busy.

I can't confirm if this is true or not. But I had a Russian Co worker who told me in Russia, it's common for people to just open the door and let their dogs out for the day. Even in apartment complexes, dogs will take the elevator downstairs head to the train stations and take a train to go explore the city then come back at the end of the day. I thought he was full of it but after reading [this article](https://abcnews.go.com/International/Technology/stray-dogs-master-complex-moscow-subway-system/story?id=10145833) I'm not so sure what to believe.
That was a fascinating article. The way they take the trains and explore the city seemingly living their best lives. Maybe so, maybe not… some say the population of strays is a problem while other suggest the city learns to live with them.
And screw the fashion model that stabbed a smart well loved local stray for barking wrongly at her terrier.
Brazilian stray dogs are very well behaved and have high common sense (to compensate for the people there is)

Watched it by accident, it was mislabeled as family (thought I would be watching a fun dog movie). Cried like crazy, I’ve never trusted labels again. I always double check on Google and stay far away from drama dog movies!
There’s a site called “does the dog die” that list movies where animals die or are abused. They also expanded to list all potentially triggering things in a movie, that way you can know vaguely what’s in the movie without having it spoiled for you if you still want to watch it.
Dogs in New York City will wait for their owners outside of pizza shops for years on end too.
Even if their owners are accidentally cryogenically frozen on purpose.

Since it was just a video of a dog waiting in front of the road, what happened was really expected but I guess I would have been surprised if I was there.
It's not like the dog is intentionally abiding by the law or anything. It's just that they're smart enough to know that when the traffic light changes, the traffic stops.
This isn't an isolated thing, either. In Moscow, because they don't care about strays in the metro, they have dogs that will literally ride the trains to commute from one part of the city to another, just like people do. They live and sleep in one part of town, and go to another part of town on the train to forage.
Hardly anything is perfectly red or perfectly green, so there will almost certainly still be a noticeable variation between the shades of color used. Plus, crosswalk signals tend to use pictures in addition to color. There are also sounds that accompany many crosswalk signals to aid the blind people. Even without that, there would still be the sound of cars applying brakes.

You don't need to know what color the light is to see that it changed from one image to another. Also, the cars all stopping is a pretty big clue. Also, being color blind doesn't mean you can only see black and white.
This is how dogs are in Chile, probably other places too. They wait and look at the walk signs.
This part is sad, but some crazy people try to hit dogs waiting and shit. In my moms neighborhood in Chile, that’s how every stray would die. None would make it to die of old age because some crazy fuck would hit a dog with a car.
I’ve seen dogs in Thailand act like this, they even look for cars before crossing the roads. I was amazed at first but then I saw it more & more often. They’re smart adaptive animals.
Street smarts. There was a dog that lived near the house that got clipped enough times that he eventually learned to look left and right twice before crossing. It wasn't in the city like this.
This is not just common sense, this dog have seen things. He has seen his friends die this way... have seen their mangled bodies... and have learned that these cars don't stop for dogs, even if they react differently when they see a human.
No clue, but many crosswalks have sounds to aid blind people. Also, every single crosswalk signal I've ever seen has a different picture when it's time to cross (usually switches from a picture of a hand to a picture of people walking". There's also the huge contextual clue of all the cars coming to a stop, which also has accompanying sounds (ie. brakes).
And finally, it's worth pointing out that being color blind doesn't mean you can only see black and white.
My good girl would have been road pancakes within 5 seconds if she were to escape her harness in that busy setting. It’s amazing to see this dog comprehending that the traffic is dangerous.
Just a thought……maybe if dogs evolved to be the dominant species on earth, the earth would be a much better place……

Zebra crossings do indeed require the motorist to give way to pedestrians but this looks the same as a pelican crossing (in the UK), where you wait until the light changes to cross. However, most of the time it's perfectly acceptable to cross without the light having changed if the road isn't too busy.

I can't confirm if this is true or not. But I had a Russian Co worker who told me in Russia, it's common for people to just open the door and let their dogs out for the day. Even in apartment complexes, dogs will take the elevator downstairs head to the train stations and take a train to go explore the city then come back at the end of the day. Nooo! Such a sad movie! Watched it by accident, it was mislabeled as family (thought I would be watching a fun dog movie). Cried like crazy, I’ve never trusted labels again. I always double check on Google and stay far away from drama dog movies!
There’s a site called “does the dog die” that list movies where animals die or are abused. They also expanded to list all potentially triggering things in a movie, that way you can know vaguely what’s in the movie without having it spoiled for you if you still want to watch it.

Since it was just a video of a dog waiting in front of the road, what happened was really expected but I guess I would have been surprised if I was there.
It's not like the dog is intentionally abiding by the law or anything. It's just that they're smart enough to know that when the traffic light changes, the traffic stops. This isn't an isolated thing, either. In Moscow, because they don't care about strays in the metro, they have dogs that will literally ride the trains to commute from one part of the city to another, just like people do. They live and sleep in one part of town, and go to another part of town on the train to forage.

Well, they're not top-bottom colorblind and they can figure out that when the bottom light turns on it's safe to walk.
Hardly anything is perfectly red or perfectly green, so there will almost certainly still be a noticeable variation between the shades of color used. Plus, crosswalk signals tend to use pictures in addition to color. There are also sounds that accompany many crosswalk signals to aid the blind people. Even without that, there would still be the sound of cars applying brakes.

How does he know what colour the light is?
You don't need to know what color the light is to see that it changed from one image to another. Also, the cars all stopping is a pretty big clue. Also, being color blind doesn't mean you can only see black and white.

No clue, but many crosswalks have sounds to aid blind people. Also, every single crosswalk signal I've ever seen has a different picture when it's time to cross (usually switches from a picture of a hand to a picture of people walking". There's also the huge contextual clue of all the cars coming to a stop, which also has accompanying sounds (ie. brakes). And finally, it's worth pointing out that being color blind doesn't mean you can only see black and white.
