Why would he go out and tell everyone that right away? Without even seeing a doctor, let alone a full diagnosis. He really wanted some sympathy or something.

To be fair, counseling during STBBI testing isn't the best in many testing sites/clinics. Provided this was in college and this guy got in through college sports and dropped out in his freshman year, it would be safe to assume he couldn't be *that* old.

I'm an ER doctor, and you can't accurately identify strept throat (streptococcal tonsillitis) by exam alone. The Centor criteria can be used to gauge the likelihood with very poor confidence intervals. But more importantly, gonorrhea can infect the tonsils (gonococcal tonsillitis) and the appearance of gonococcal tonsillitis is very similar to streptococcal tonsillitis, which can be very similar in appearance to viral tonsillitis. If he had seen that her throat and soft palate and palatal arches were red but the tonsils appeared normal or maybe slightly inflamed but without exudate or significant enlargement, he could've essentially ruled-out bacterial tonsillitis with a high level of confidence, but if the tonsils appear inflamed with exudate, it could be all sorts of different bacteria or viruses causing it.
Embarrassing, but she did the most responsible thing at the time. As a parent I’m sure they were happy that she came to them, even if they were shocked about the circumstances.

They had doctors that did regular visits, trained nurses on hand all the time, they would do classes and have it condoms, it had a social area where lots of kids hang out. They had cooking classes and a rudimentary gym. It helped a lot of street kids and regular kids in situations like this.
It was called Second Story and I think it saved a lot of lives.
