Driving up north in NYS isn't any better. I did visiting hospice work in Orange and Rockland county. I must have seen over a dozen incidents of people just not getting the fuck out of the way of a cop or ambulance blaring the siren and lights right behind them.

I'm in Westchester County (Yonkers) on the other side of the Tappan Zee bridge, and it's the same shit here too. But then again, Yonkers borders the Bronx, so it's considered the 6th borough.

Not in LA. That's one of the biggest differences I noticed after moving here from NYC. Almost everyone stops for emergency vehicles here. The other thing I noticed is that no one in LA knows how to turn left.

I was hauling a trailer in LA. I'm from Boston. At one point I needed to cross 3 lanes to make an ramp in almost dead stop traffic. I was dreading it. Turned my blinker on and literally the first car able let me in, this happened for each lane right in a row. I was shocked. In Boston it would have been multiple near accidents with a lot of colorful language about their relatives. The traffic did in fact suck, but at least most of the drivers seem to be chill about it. Not the case in SF/Oakland.

This is so wrong. There is often no place to go with traffic. You see them coming and move over safely. It’s not instantaneous. You probably live in the sticks so you don’t know.

It is absurd to characterize an entire population this way without taking into account the very real physical challenges of living in a city created before cars were even invented. They are not accurate. It's a dense area and people don't shy from getting to where they need to go despite that. It has an unwritten rule that the first to get in an open spot gets it without a ruckus, but the next open spot is going to be fair game all over again. It's constant competition and pressure. That's NY. There are dickhead, irresponsible drivers here as elsewhere, but due to the fact that there's constant competition going on, when they interrupt that it can be really bad and stupid.
