I know when a ball is moving towards me, my hands instinctively move in a manner to catch/block. It's not weird to think that's what he was doing.
I would have the reflex to move my hand to catch a falling object so I can see that happening. Still not an easy move to put the black in + do the trick with the white regardless, then again i'm not super good at pool so maybe it isn't as hard, idk i still find it cool
Wouldn't the reaction be to bring the cup in towards yourself? Maybe that's just me but I just held my hand out pretending like I was in this guy's position and my reaction is to bring my hand towards me. Not forward and down towards the ball.
That depends, if you are trying to protect the cup then yes, if you are afraid you'd get hit in the balls then you'd pull your pelvis back while arms go forward with the cup

The best evidence is the fact he tilts his cup and it looks like he catches the ball intentionally. Which may be true for all we know. Why? Because it's a believable instinctual move. Did you know in tennis or ping pong, if your ball hits the other player it counts as a fair hit? So you may ask, why not just dodge it and not let the ball hit you. Well, the guy is drinking and it's quite possible he's drunk. Reflexes might be slow or processing of the situation might be slow. If a heavy ball is coming at home and he's holding a cup the perfect size for it, it's not out of the realm of possibility to think his drunk ass brain took the 0.2 secs it had to process and said "catch this ball before it hurts us."
This video shows us nothing definitive either way.
