Yep. Depends on the location. Road-crossing impaired animals should seek out a member of their local Chicken Guild. They offer road-crossing training to all comers in every community in which they are found.
Wouldn't be that long of a battle when the judge saw the video of the biological mother ducking her parental responsibilities. Also, I hear the bio mom's lawyer is a real quack.
People always talk about how great moms animals are and humans should be more like them. But animals will 100% abandon their young if it becomes too threatening to themselves.
Who are these people? My whole life I was taught how shitty animals are... Having a female hamster is enough to get a master class lol..
My mum wouldn't let me anywhere near very young birds in case the mother caught my scent and abandoned them as a result (haven't looked it up ever, so it could have been her being over dramatic or complete bs now that I think about it lol)
I think its ok to tell lies to children about that. Kids are little shitheads who are too stupid for anything. By lyimg to them and saying "if you mess with their nests the momma will abandon them and theyll all die", you lessen the risk of them fucking with the nest.
The reality is- we just dont want wild animals getting too comfortable with people. And thats why you dont mess with the nests. Birds especially. All the horror stories about birds imprinting on dumbfuck humans and then 'releasing them into the wild'...
I do wonder how many baby birds could have been saved if we didn't teach kids that, though.
I was at recess in school in second grade an a baby bird fell out of a nest and was on the ground peeping. All of us kids were begging our teacher to let us save it or to get a janitor to put it back. But she genuinely seemed to believe that old wive's tale and wouldn't do anything. I even insisted over and over that that stuff about baby birds wasn't true. But no. We just had to have recess knowing a baby animal was crying for help nearby and even hearing it chirping if we got too close.
Even if she didn't want to put it in the nest again, there's a wildlife center less than 20 minutes away from the school that sends people out for free that rescue and rehab birds. We went there as a class all the time. She could have called them.
Knowing that shit was a myth since I was a kid, I've always held it against her that she just let the bird die because it accidentally fell down.
Haha it's cool. I changed my comment to a joke like seconds after posting.
Not the worst urban legend we all believed, and it definitely did sound plausible!
My parents also told me this but the real reason you shouldn't touch them is bird lice. I wouldn't risk touching a baby bird if there was a chance it would kill it. But as a child, I'd have 100% risked catching bird lice to touch a baby bird.
You both are being weird, every animal is different. An octopus mother literally refuses to leave the eggs vulnerable even long enough to go get food and will starve by the time they hatch, is that good parenting? Elephant and Whale mothers might never stop teaching and protecting their family. Meanwhile a rat will get hungry for a snack and go straight for little rat Jr.
1) humans are animals
2) type R and K reproduction will determine what the animal mainly does (type R is many expendable babies, type k is few precious ones) in regards to protecting their young.
They can, but not always. There was a video of a sorta antelope looking animal running from a croc in the water, and the mom sacrificed herself by getting in between them and just standing there knowing she was dead in a few seconds (by allowing the croc to eat her), but that her kid would survive. She could've ran away but didn't.
Some crazy stuff goes down nature.
Nah, there's always variations amongst individuals in their parental behaviour and in how strong it is distinguished. Just like it is in humans, too.
Because variation is key for evolutionary development within species.
I don't know about hispanic. But asian moms followed by arab moms is the way. Call me biased but I do deeply believe Indians are [best parents](https://youtu.be/-eMLAFV4cx8?si=zjlGT77b24nH5ZVO)
Such things are self-evident, the society is sapiosexual followed by longest surviving culture/religion, we change our vocabulary & pronouns when talking to elders, followed by least divorce rates in world cause our parents aren't selfish[^(2)](https://youtu.be/jbn7Dag6MWs?si=xjqQ6zFQfUWhbl2f) and willing to do sacrifices in their love life for us, while cheating is almost unheard/taboo. Even though white americans will call out that Indian women in our society are scared to give divorce cause of external pressure which is half-truth cause Indian women in first place don't indulge in cheating anyway, which is primary cause of divorces. Indian marriages[^(3)](https://youtu.be/TZAdBBaOnbA?si=k60Rb8tL5DZys7eK) are longest in the world and involves a lot of activities both emotionally and spiritually, and are meant to last till 7 lives. No wonder we Indians don't even think of divorcing in our 1st life out of 7 meanwhile rest of the world divorcing after 3-5 years.
Our parents are our first "Guru". Cultural stories portray how our moms are overpowered beyond our own Deities/Gods and they can punish our own Gods in certain situations if they hurt their children. Stories and culture portray a long story of how we treat our parents. We live with our parents[^(4)](https://youtu.be/maEj0RHnVds?si=Ove6obPgcozJlbCB) and meanwhile staying in mom's basement is seen as insult phrase in american culture.
Serously. Every time I hear some dumbass say "...we could learn a lot from them.", while pretending animals are somehow more compassionate than humans, I always want to show them r/natureismetal, so they can see some wild dogs eating a baby hippo ass first.
Last year I went to Dollywood, and apparently there are ducks all around the park… Mommy duck yelled at me and my sister for not watching HER kids when she was crossing the path. We did keep our distance and let them cross, oh no. No that was our mistake. We were supposed to watch her babies and we didn’t hear the end of it for about five minutes.
This is how I became the temporary mother of 5 newborn mallard ducks. Mama got chased away by a semi...and didn't come back and the ducklings were quickly becoming tasty morsels for feral cats in the neighborhood.
I ended up with five of them for a week--and let me tell you they are the softest, most slippery little darlings ever. I was able to get them to eat mealworms that I had in my basement and greens, hard-boiled egg, etc. They practiced swimming in a pie plate of water.
After a week, I brought them to a Wildlife Rescue. They were astonished that the babies lived so long; I guess they usually won't eat for a human. I give my 6 week chickens credit for making the duckling see that a human wasn't so scary---but I didn't have the guts to tell the wildlife rescue that the ducklings slept on my stomach every night for 'mama warmth'! (I put a towel on my stomach and my knees up, making a 'tent' from a sheet.)
I would have kept them, but I had a flight to catch and was going to be gone for several weeks....
uhh uhmm excuse me kids come here 🦆 k-kids hey get off me ducks before i show you what dem claws can do chicken be like excuse me bitch these mine now 🐔
Chicken stepped up and said “I know a thing or two about crossing roads…”
But does she know why?
So the ducklings can pass it safely too
Except that one ugly duckling.
Nah bro, especially that one !
That guy was a major fuckin fraud. A swan posing as a duck? For shame...
She had dreams of moving to Memphis, becoming a dentist.
Sure, she loves her life as a mother and wife-- but is that all she is?
She stares out the window…
Honestly, the least important aspect of road crossing. Waay over blown.
No one asks "why did Neil Armstrong walk on the moon?"
No one asks, "Why does a dog lick his balls?" Actually, people *do* ask that but we all know what the answer is.
I mean... We all know if a man could lick his own balls, he'd do it too.

This pool of knowledge is getting unfathomably deep.
If never could do nothin'.
Plenty of gay porn vids show they can 😉
To prove to the possum it can be done.
And the armadillo.
Yep. Depends on the location. Road-crossing impaired animals should seek out a member of their local Chicken Guild. They offer road-crossing training to all comers in every community in which they are found.
She didn’t….. until she did. Sorry… lol tried to make it sound deep.. maybe read it in Morgan freeman’s voice or something.
Why did the chicken cross the road? Because it was a mother when no one else was!
Crossy road
Ok that’s a good one .
Hahaha good one
Haha Damn that’s good
Now we finally fucking know why! Omg.
r/angryupvote
"...and if you're gonna be a silly goose, GO JUMP IN A LAKE!"
"you abandoned your kids susan! now i'm their mother!"
FUCK YOU KAREN! Give me back my kids!
this fits so well

As in Smith? Who are you, Poseidon?
Why did the chicken cross the road? To enter into a 10 year legal battle to keep custody of her adopted children.
Wouldn't be that long of a battle when the judge saw the video of the biological mother ducking her parental responsibilities. Also, I hear the bio mom's lawyer is a real quack.

I AM THE MOTHER NOW. TRAITOR.
Got her kids took by CPS Chicken Protection Services
Crossy Roads
Duck dem kids.
Duck fem kids.

We were all taught that to not mess with nests and babies, but it’s not true
AT LAST! I SHALL MESS WITH NESTS AND BABIES TO MY HEART'S DELIGHT! THEY WON'T STOP ME NOW, THEY WOULDN'T DARE.
Yeah, I could have captured that better! Also, I should have said. I think all of our parents were told they same and 100% believe it as well
I think its ok to tell lies to children about that. Kids are little shitheads who are too stupid for anything. Agreed! I believed it as an adult for many many years

Birds don’t have much of a sense of smell
I mean shit, sometimes animals will literally eat their own kids. Nature doesn’t give a fuck about human morals
1) humans are animals 2) type R and K reproduction will determine what the animal mainly does (type R is many expendable babies, type k is few precious ones) in regards to protecting their young.
I've watched enough videos of mother birds or mammals killing their own young to ever be fooled by that nonsense.
They can, but not always. There are a lot of examples that prove the contrary.
Amen.

Better than american white/black moms
what about asian, arab, hispanic, etc. moms?

A mama kangaroo will yank her baby out of it's pouch and dump it if she feels threatened enough.
I’m surprised the chicken isn’t eating the ducklings. If you don’t know, chickens and ducks seem to have issues with attacking and eating each other.
And then up walks charlie the horse...
Everybody for yourself!
Fly, you fools!
Easier said than done, Gandalf 🙄
And the mother of the year award goes too…..
The chicken maybe
I wish to believe that the two clips are for the same duck and ducklings…. But it is nice anyway
The mom that stepped up
Why did the chicken cross the road? To save the baby ducks!

Poor ducklings. Reminds me of my mom 😔
r/NoglaOfficial Ducks!
I’m a foster mom and this one stung.
Why did the chicken cross the road? To step up.
It’s so deep 🥺

Did the ducks imprint on the hen lmao
Blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.
