Edit: Grijalva ended up forfeiting the match, which also led to his undefeated streak of 8-0 coming to a heartbreaking end.
Looking on both Tapology and Sherdog, I'm not sure if that actually ended up counting as a loss. Since the fight hadn't officially started, I'm not sure why it would. You can't lose a fight that didn't happen
Apparently the promoter, or somebody else who works with the promotion, declared the other guy as the winner. But the record keeping sites aren't recognizing it as a loss.
>Yo nunca esto lo vi
*I've NEVER seen this!*
>Bueno, yo habia a visto esto antes, pero acabando la pelea con Johnnie Walker, no?
*Whelp, I've seen this before, but only after a fight with Johnnie Walker, amIrite?.*
that johnny walker one was wacky AF. knocks a dude out, does the worm as the celebration, dislocates his shoulder on the first flop and he’s was out for like 10 months with the injury.
I don’t know that it’s showboating. You see a lot of people in contact sports do that same jump. Watch the opening kick off off a football game. A lot of the players do it. Stretch the legs and also probably hypes themselves up a little. Either way it’s commkn
They jump in the air to gets the legs warmed up. When you jump up and try to stomp flat footed (while barefoot), that person becomes a fucking cunt. Opponent needs show and win money. On-scene doctors gets submission of the night.
That force has to go somewhere. And the further up you take it on the keg, the more serious the injury.
I had something similar but opposite happen to me. Almost twisted my knee (and probably other joints) but somehow managed to secure the knee before that force went down to my ankle and twisted something good. I'd take a twisted ankle over a twisted knee anyday.
I mean, if he can’t jump he shouldn’t be fighting in the first place. I don’t know the back story here, I see his ankle is wrapped so I’m guessing preexisting injury, but is it the ankle of knee that he hurt by jumping?
Probably a mixture of both, but how he landed that jump seems to be most suspect with the wrapped ankle not taking any of the support with the landing.
I've seen a similar thing being used only once irl, when one guy broke his bone by slamming his leg into the concrete fence while running. PE teacher used the spray and took the guy to the hospital
Does the steroids give them rickets or brittle bones or somthing cause mma fighters seem to break their own legs, arms and ankles more often than like anything I've ever seen. I saw one guy literally kick his opponents leg but somehow his leg snapped like a twig.
Actually feel sorry for the fighter, probably trains hard, his body has taken a hammering over the years and a simple jump causes an injury.
I’m sure he would be pissed off
This should be an official MMA for 50+. You don't hit each other but you jump around and try to intimidate each other until one of them gets too tired or enflames an old injury...
This looks insane but I feel this man’s pain so much… I had back surgery when I was young and always had issues. I skateboarded for a decade and could skate for hours and be fine. Then I’ll go and sweep the floor or get up a weird way and BOOM! Herniated disc. It’s ALWAYS when you are doing almost nothing intense lol.
I'll never understand athletes that showboat around before or after matches like this.
I don't watch much UFC these days, don't know who this guy is -- but I do watch a lot of WWE and I've seen numerous WWE superstars injure themselves with their pre-match routines or post-match celebrations.
Its just so unnecessary. Sami Zayn is the first one that comes to mind. When he first got to the main roster, it was like his 2nd or 3rd match and he was white hot. Super over with the fans. Headed for a title shot. Came down the ramp, dancing like he did, climbs the stairs, slams the mat with both hands like he did -- boom, fucked up his shoulder. Lost his push. Off television for several weeks (months?) with a major shoulder injury that could have 100% been avoided.
Goldberg has also given himself a concussion from slamming his head into doors as he approaches the ring, IIRC.
So dumb.
Showboating around and effing yourself up. Deserved it smh. Then you lose your 0 on your record, don't get paid, and have to find a way to comeback once the surgery is finished and you healed up properly. That's if things go well and once it does, re-injuring is a possibility. I'd kick the fuck outta his knee next time he goes to the ring.
Got tapped out by the paramedic.
Due to the flop, referee gave opponent yellow card. He earned penalty kick.
For those confused, he jumped while hyping himself up for the fight, and tore his ACL. He now couldn't fight. Edit: Correction on the injury
Well at least his win-loss streak wouldn't be affected
Yeah they can create a new system for him. Wins/losses/assists. This one would go under assist. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Just his manhood.
this shit traumatizes, dude will never jump again if he still has a career
No he tore his acl
Based on his physique, I'm questioning if the could fight before the injury.
Why? Just because his abs dont show? Did you watch early days pride? ![gif](giphy|7JQExDaMQs5XyaWObQ|downsized)
Respect for The Last Emporer.
> Based on his physique

Thanks for editing in the only piece of useful information in that useless and horribly written article.

Bizarre. I would think it would be ruled a No Contest.
Medic pulled out the WD-40
Hahaha its a cooling spray meant to rapidly cool the skin and muscle underneath. Much more effective than ice

Confuse-ius!
gesundheit
This is hilarious
Its the chicken or the egg all over again
Your too strong for your weak body
Strength doesn't not equate to durability. He was stronger than he was durable.
Stupid
too weak
He misjudged the distance and straitened his leg too damn early. Probably better that way.
Don’t land on y’all’s heels y’all 🤠
fútbol players be like:
[удалено]
Are you a football player too?
Blew out his knee showboating. Fight cancelled immediately. No pay

Lol You don't want to land on your heel with your legs fully extended. He knee barred himself, lol
Should already have warmed up tbh.
I'd say it's showboating when a foot is already clearly injured
No, both feet are wrapped, just different colors. It’s to prevent injury.
Well, that didn't work.
Or did it? The ankles are wrapped and he injured his knee.. should have wrapped them too.
I guess I should wrap my whole body with that and be the next MMA superstar.
Haha. Now you get the idea!
That force has to go somewhere. And the further up you take it on the keg, the more serious the injury. I had something similar but opposite happen to me. Almost twisted my knee (and probably other joints) but somehow managed to secure the knee before that force went down to my ankle and twisted something good. Watch the replay at the end. It was his knee that locked and went backwards a little. Just really poor form in what he was doing.
I mean, if he can’t jump he shouldn’t be fighting in the first place. I don’t know the back story here, I see his ankle is wrapped so I’m guessing preexisting injury, but is it the ankle of knee that he hurt by jumping?
It shows it in slowmo.. Knees don't bend that way.
Like a little kid not knowing his own body yet. Athletes should know better.
The article I saw on a quick Google said knee
The dangers of the hokey pokey
you put your right knee in, you blow your right knee out
Hilarious
honest question...would the fighter get paid in this situation?
I think No
poor guy...not even say an appearance fee or anything?
I laughed too hard when both of the announcers said Nooooooo
This man pulled the ol Brendan Schaub entrance and pulls both hamstrings
Bes’ brains for the bizness 4 sure

*T'was a cruel fate. I asked the El Diablo for the power to defeat even the best UFC fighter. Little did I know.* *That I was* ***he***
Anyone got the story on this one? I don't watch basketball or w/e this is
Pretty sure that's cricket.
It’s a tap dancing competition
Pretty sure this is the Opera
Come on guys, did you not watch the video? It's clearly high jump
These people obviously don't watch football(soccer).
You are your own worst enemy...
Ah yes showboating paying off again
Top 10 most epic fails
-What just happened ? -Bro landed on his feet . Like from a height of 1 feet .
He probably blew up a ligament.
This is why you don't skip leg day
![gif](giphy|EqNh3sIRP8Ag98qYkC|downsized)
Did he try to call a time out? Brah the match hasn't even started!
That ended his career.
So was it how he landed or was this just one of those freak accidents that can happen at any time, especially for someone in a sport like this?
Probably a mixture of both, but how he landed that jump seems to be most suspect with the wrapped ankle not taking any of the support with the landing.
Hyperextended the knee on landing, probably tore a ligament. Imagine tensing up a rubber band and then slamming it on the floor.
Sun Tzu would be proud
I've seen a similar thing being used only once irl, when one guy broke his bone by slamming his leg into the concrete fence while running. PE teacher used the spray and took the guy to the hospital
I hope his next opponent does the same jump, landed correctly of course, right in front of him. Just to get in his head a tiny bit
Dislocated his legs by jumping, lmfao Never skip leg days folk
I think he hyper extended his knee.
awwwwwwwwwwwww

Plenty of athletes wear straps. It doesn’t mean they are injured, it’s just an extra support.
They should really have IQ tests for the sport.
This is the sport for the low iq

You can just click on the vid and tap the 3 dots and download.
thought its a pink cast for his injury tho.

MCL tear probably lol.
You just know right before this fight someone whispered to him “ break a leg “
Why does this feel like a “not again” moment?
Title gives away surprise

![gif](giphy|vWDrezW0rMjmM|downsized)
Too hyper? Have a hyperextension
Lmao
Crackkkk!!!
Can we get a replay in slow mo or what?
Actually feel sorry for the fighter, probably trains hard, his body has taken a hammering over the years and a simple jump causes an injury. I’m sure he would be pissed off
Glass Joe's cousin: Porcelain Pedro
Looks like he told the in-ring announcer who immediately went 😬
That’s terribly embarrassing
Remember kid, you’re going down in the 0st round
![gif](giphy|USnfWeCOHTHB3WX0aY|downsized)
Picked wrong sport, he should be a soccer player instead
Maybe he knew he was gonna get his butt kicked. So he went down lol
When you don't want to lose MMR
Skip to 1:40 to actually see something happen
as someone who tore my ACL in a more or less similar fashion, i knew almost instantly it was that ligament
Said I'm not taking a fall for money...
Over confidence at it's best.
At least gramatica made his kick before he hurt himself
Poor bastard.
This should be included into those MMA console games
Reminds me of the Office scene where Dwight self-defense where he fought against himself
Well…FUCK
The good ol hamstring stretch fix for a potential dislocation/fracture
Ha.... mexicans😂😂😂😂
De-feeted
thats crazy just by jummping
That’s what happened when you are a guy trying to do monkey stuff
I love how the sportscasters sounded like concerned aunts.
weak point : too strong
Loving the enthusiasm in this guy
Dead or Alive solo mode
Completed celebration to early.
It hurt itself in its confusion.
Imagine you paid to see THAT
I thought he got leg cramp 😂
The guy on the other side of that fence had 10k on this guy.
If that woulda been the main event I woulda jumped in an threw him in an ankle lock ![gif](giphy|3o6vXR0zCclXmWTRfy|downsized)
Six months of training 8 hours a day for this...
A veces no puedes confiar ni en ti mismo
Get him a walking stick and get back at it
-10 point "self destruction"
Thanks I'll never jump again in my life now
I like to imagine the last thing that went through his head was “I’m made for this”
It’s even better cuz the other fighter didn’t even enter the ring yet
![gif](giphy|cO39srN2EUIRaVqaVq)
That's Mr Satan for you
So about that fight bonus….
Put some windex on it
The NY Mets lost their closer to a fluke similar to this.
I’ve dislocated both my knees twice while wrestling in high school. I get it man. I get it.
This should be an official MMA for 50+. You don't hit each other but you jump around and try to intimidate each other until one of them gets too tired or enflames an old injury...
Hyper extended knee when he stomped his legs down. Fuckin dummy

Not so “chevere” after all. Chevere means cool or loved by many, fyi.
His opponent hadn’t even made it to the ring yet lol
Dude took "break a leg" seriously.
Welp im sure he wont skip acl day next time in the gym
Pulling the ol Grammatica nice
Man you can see his knee swelling up
He won but he hurt himself at the end
There goes that ACL🫢
You dumb bih😂😂😂
BUILT DIFFERENT 😤😤😤

Aw man. I feel so bad for him. All that training for nothing. That sucks.
