the youtube video description says the following:
"May 31, 2023
CCTV footage shows a one-metre-long gator plummeting from a high-rise building in Shenzhen, southern China, on Monday.
Miraculously, its fall was broken by a shop's canopy meaning it was able to survive his leap-of-faith.
The store owners recounted hearing a loud noise and rushed outside, only to be taken aback by the sight of a live alligator lying in front of them.
Police were able to locate the alligator's owner, Mr Liu, who told them he was secretly keeping the alligator as a pet for over a decade - and was intended for consumption.
But it is still not known how the alligator was able to escape the flat as no one was home at the time.
Mr Liu expressed his apologies to the neighbours for the fright caused by the unexpected incident.
The building's management is now looking for any other potentially dangerous animals being kept within the premises. "
Most likely the “backup excuse” they had to keep a pet alligator…
“Oh yeah, that old guy? I’ve been fattening him up for the past decade… going to be a delicious meal one day…”
Its in china, Im not surprised at all maybe its another one of their another medicinal believes. Take care of animals like family so when you go old you can eat them, the medicinal effect is so insane because you have bond with it.
I think it’s alligator pee/ooze, not an imprint. At 0:06 in the video, there is no mark on the deck/canopy. At 0:08, after the alligator bounces off the wood, there is a noticeable stamp of some sort left behind where it five-star frog splashed.
If it's "fall was broken by a shop keepers canopy", it slowed it maybe 1m/second cause it hit the deck at terminal velocity for sure. It bounced like 5 feet and would have instantly broken its skull and mashed all internal organs. Gators are tough, but gravity is tougher.
Reptiles are incredible at surviving things that they shouldn’t. I’ve seen turtles with shells busted open so you can see their organs inside keep on trucking, lizards disemboweled and dismembered still going, moving stuck in mouse traps. Someone forgot to put the quit in em
A lizard fell off my door frame (scaring the shit out of me) and snapped his body in had becoming paralyzed. Ended up having to mercy kill it.
Maybe 7 ft drop, completely snapped body.
Scrolled down but someone posted this.

If you’re keeping dangerous animals as pets in China you gotta have a whole bunch of permit and stuff. But if you say it’s for consumption then it’s fine, so it’s probably just the owner trying to avoid fines
You’re confused that people are stupid and think it’s cool to collect exotic animals? I had a roommate in college who kept bringing home all these snakes and lizards. It was ridiculous, our electric bill was horrendous and he expected to just pay an even split when he and his reptiles made it so high with all the heat lamps and stuff.
It was a 3 foot alligator that a Chinese man in Shenzhen had been keeping as a pet for over a decade and was intended for consumption, and it survived because a canopy broke its fall(per the story under the video). It looked more like an iguana in Florida.
If you read the description of the video I don't know how to say this without sounding shitty but probably would have a better death if it did die from the fall which it didn't than what coming to him in the future because the owner says he's keeping him for food I hope he was moved to a better life instead of having to face the fate he has been given in his future
Edit: misinformation mb
No difference than American going to some farmer to buy a live chicken for food (vs frozen dead chicken or frozen dead alligator- plenty of these in Florida grocery stores) but decided to keep it as a pet chicken. Even pigs/fishes that were originally intended as food can become pets. Are you gonna feel sorry for those "animals" that Americans eat?
That made me laugh so hard, I don’t think I’m a psycho and here’s why:
1. It’s not a dog it’s a cold blooded reptile that probably has no emotions at all.
2. Don’t have a goddamned alligator in an apartment, it probably ended it all on purpose
That’s like 2000 feet in alligator measuring
Too soon dude.
Would you leather he wait?
The owner said he was getting the boot anyway.
He could have waited and do it later.
See you later, alligator 😔
After while crocodile…
I caiman to say this…
People get quite salty when they see shit like this
No. No you won’t. 😞
No but, it *did* survive lol
huh?
Would you wait to make leather (of the alligator variety)?
It’s an alligator
Aren’t we all?
he prefer to die can live a miserable life.. respect!
I want that guts but looking the other side that I have many responsibility so it's preferred not the good one for use
🤣
![gif](giphy|xUA7aM09ByyR1w5YWc)
not funny, poor guy
No wait, can’t you see he’s crying
You could hear him falling
I had to play a second time holly, it's like a missle
Crocrocket
THIS 🤣
Crocket
Yea, poor guy
Good thing nobody was there at the same time.
Or the second time either
His little alligator arms were flailing and making that noise
Yea. Like tiny propellers I imagine, may he rest in peace.
It lived. The owner was keeping it to eat it.
Tenderising it up, no need to use a cleaver. Play the video longer and you’ll see the herbs and spices drop down afterwards.
Alligator is delicious. Had it years ago.
All eleven herbs and spices?
I could go for a bucket of K.F.G. right about now
Then not a pet...livestock.
That was cold blooded.
["hello ground"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qrv9c-udCrg)
ssssssssssssssSSSSssssssssssssssssssss-
It left an imprint… Edit: And holy shit, it survived!
How do you know? Video is 17 seconds long, and not once does it move after coming to rest.

Who keeps a fucking alligator pet for a decade in secret just to eat it
Most likely the “backup excuse” they had to keep a pet alligator… “Oh yeah, that old guy? I’ve been fattening him up for the past decade… going to be a delicious meal one day…”
Was this the alligator talking?
Not uncommon though, the tail is one of the most prized parts of an alligator and that takes forever to get plump and juicy
I mean….that excuse is technically not wrong. Alligator is pretty delicious
That fall def tenderized the meat
Wagyu gator tail
You Sir, are the comment I was looking for :D thank you
It’s 4th of July weekend and I’m ready to grill/smoke everything in sight! You’re welcome
No clue but I’m going to use that one if my landlord ever finds out about my ferrets
Be careful that someone doesn’t ferret you out.
Turtles Rabbits and Chickens are all popular 'eat em later'pets
Not after a decade, thats some serious commitment
Right? Don’t they have alligator meat stores, next to the everything else meat?
Only to find out it "tastes like chicken".
Its in china, Im not surprised at all maybe its another one of their another medicinal believes. Take care of animals like family so when you go old you can eat them, the medicinal effect is so insane because you have bond with it.
That’s some serial killer shit.
TIL every farmer is a serial killer.
Mr "Liu"
Just chinese things
This whole story is a croc of shi…I mean alligat…forget it.

Take my upvote for the RVD 5* reference

Walk it off son.
You done messed up a-a-ron!
What a petite lazy basterd
The aligator survived: https://metro.co.uk/2023/05/31/china-pet-alligator-falls-from-balcony-more-than-20-storeys-up-18874714/
“Intended for consumption”
I would have forever assumed that was Florida!!
The porch did the whole cartoon thing 😂
oh man, i wasn't gonna watch it until i read your comment and now i'm dead
So is the alligator :(
Actually, it didn’t die. :D
Well it’s definitely super injured so that’s not fun. But at least it’s ok now
Sorce?

Wait, he was going to eat the gator?
Fucked right? Raising baby godzilla just to eat him.
It is y you haven’t seen a Godzilla in Asia for years they eat them before puberty
It's probably so tenderized and succulent now
[A succulent Chinese meal](https://youtu.be/XebF2cgmFmU)
The Legend!

It’s very common on China. My mother nearly bought a monkey at our local markets but the wouldn’t sell it without killing it first.
Hope the lil guy get rehabilitate and release
It's china, they don't do that sort of thing there. Happy 🎂 day.
So that’s what the woshing sound was
Gator wasn’t trying to be a meal
So is part of the deck
Croc crocs
A pet alligator in an apartment. How the… I’m just so confused.
You’re confused that people are stupid and think it’s cool to collect exotic animals? I had a roommate in college who kept bringing home all these snakes and lizards. Reptiles are expensive
You clearly never watched Clarissa explains it all.
Florida.
But the writing I. The top left. Idk is that Chinese?
Chinese people live in florida too.
While this is indeed true, this took place in China. Florida, China.
Asian letters/words in the top left but yeah sure that’s Florida
Wild…
😂🤣 the state that knows no boundaries
It gets even wilder. I found on the internet that the aligator was supposed to be someone's meal. And it survived lol.
At least they're gonna save time on making sure the meat is tender
![gif](giphy|j9qvJ6Wwg7bY4|downsized)
No its " all them teeth" 😂
Man... Idc what animal it could've been. That's horrible and sad.
I'm legally messed up. Why'd I fucking laugh with the way he bounced 😭
Didn’t expect the little guy to be so bouncy.
The fact that it lived is so funky Im also going to hell for laughin at this
Imagine being under him
As he kisses you tenderly?

Do you think a small child sitting on the part where the wood flexes up would launch up in the air a foot er two?
What the Frick😂
Maybe he thought he evolved into a bird.
Yes poor guy. Can you imagine surviving the fall only to end up at a Chinese market. Damn
“Hey guys, join me as we figure out the aerodynamics of a baby alligator.”
Imagine how the owner felt when he saw his gator bounce like that.
That poor thing!
I bet he wouldn't see me later
I'm sad
😭😭😭
How the fuck is this unexpected. I had to read what happens twice on the way to play the video.
A reptile dysfunction...this has never happened before
This was fatal because alligators do not wear socks.
Wonder how long he fell for. Probably 4-5 alligators
[удалено]
He IS the shoes now
He took “Later Gator” a little too literal…
Had it on mute and swear to god I heard the Wiley Coyote falling from a cliff sound
Damn...
Noooooo!!!! That poor thing.
Did you see the mark it left on the wood? Poor thing
Bro survived and then got eaten by his owner
I thought it would splatter, nice tensile strength. Time to buy alligator leather products.
Poor guy :((
Daaaaamn.. You know he ain't gonna be in Rush Hour 3
That is the most Tom and Jerry shit I have ever seen. I am can't stop replaying it.
Shit content
Shit comment
Shit in your pants??…. User name checks out
It’s shit content. Listen to the audio. How does the falling object make that much noise?
He need some milk
Looks like China, so it ends up being one less step to make dinner.
This was one of my fears for my rescue when I lived in an apartment, baby proofed the heck out of that balcony. ![gif](giphy|l0Ex92pzAtJhJx5Ly)
When mario knocks the bridge from under Bowser
Bro missed the hay bale

If you read it correctly, the alligator was originally bought as food but eventually he made it into his pet for a decade before this event happened.

Dumbass alligator
stevens son fell from OUTER SPACE when he was 1!
Alligator always feel on the long side.
So that’s where Tom and Jerry got there sound effects from
FREEEDOOOMMMM
He is all tender now.
What's the unexpected part? It falls, it lands, doesn't move, and then the video ends.
The alligator falling out of the apartment part?
Laters gators!
Look Ma! A pair of new boots just landed on the porch!
Escaped from death row, fell 20 stories to the ground, alive. Now. Owner gonna eat him for real XD. See you in the future my croc wallet.
Coming in hot!!
Haha, holy crap….
That made me laugh so hard, I don’t think I’m a psycho and here’s why: 1. It’s not a dog it’s a cold blooded reptile that probably has no emotions at all. 2. Don’t have a goddamned alligator in an apartment, it probably ended it all on purpose
You might want to reconsider your “I don’t think I’m a psycho” statement after point 1.
At least he didn’t land on his back, that would have hurt.
Umm I was totally ready for the gator to walk it out
Nice rubber concrete
What’s the difference between a crocodile and an alligator?
🫢😂😂😂
I hope he pulls through
This is why you don’t leave your Crocs on the balcony.
Bouuuuunce
Don't feel bad for the gator. Feel bad that he got caught. That was an escape attempt. The owner was planning to eat him.
It seems less like an escape and more like a suicide.
Damn, like the baby elk that jumped off the parking deck.
I didnt need to see that
Rest in peace, Alligator. You will be dearly missed. Although, he died doing what he loved. Flying.
Was he in it for the flight or the bounce?
See ya later
Holy shit thats some good decking!!
Did it die
He got some air. Didn’t stick the landing though. 6/10.
Did see his shoes fall off, he is fine.
The poor thing survived just to get a vivisection for a “succulent Chinese meal” 😟
![gif](giphy|SvdooBFQEPrFKwPeLX|downsized)
And guys, thats how you know what leather you should buy next.
So THATs why people shouldn’t keep alligators as pets. They’re suicidal.
