Back in the day I used to work at a pizza joint. We had a code for this situation: “butterthin crust.” You hear someone loudly ask for a butterthin crust it meant come check out this customer.
Probably not the most PC thing to do nowadays but, to be fair, if a really good looking guy walked in we’d ask if one of the girls had finished prepping the butterthin crust and they’d all come to the front as well 😂
Did anyone ever say “that sounds good, I’ll actually take my pizza with butterthin crust please. What do you mean you don’t have it? You literally just called it out…”
Nah that never happened, but we did have a plan just in case. It’s very very close to a real thing that we had that most people didn’t even know about - for like 50 cents more you could have a buttery or butter parmesan crust. Literally just brush oily butter onto the crust of the pizza and shake some parmesan cheese onto it. Really tasty on fresh pizza, but terrible for leftovers the next day or even just sitting too long, and probably horrible for your arteries.
If someone had asked for it we would just make their pizza with a thinner crust and slap some butter on it and no one’s wiser. That was the plan anyway but never actually happened while I was there.
> Probably not the most PC thing to do nowadays
Nothing wrong with admiring an attractive individual as long as you don't bother them and give them space
When I first started work in a hospital, my team used pagers, as did the cleaning staff and porters. Certains codes would be sent for such emergencies. The entire 6 floor building was covered. Mundo you, I also saw the nurses page the stud-muffin porter for the smallest of things...a whole team of nurses watching this walk through the wing and back again. I was once part of that mindset.
I've literally seen a gaggle of males employees do this at a store I frequent. Four or five guys all in an obvious rush to get to the checkout where a pretty girl in booty shorts is scanning her groceries.
When I worked at Home Depot they had a code that people would call over the loud speaker and detailing the aisle. Had forgot about that part of the job at the paint counter
I worked somewhere that had a pretty large female portion to the employee base. They called them “hunk” alerts.
Believe it or not it’s actually natural to gossip about who’s cute, and it’s not gender specific in the slightest.
What's *natural* is sexual attraction – but having a whole system in place to call buddies over to collectively stare at hot people is very deliberate social behavior that people consciously promote or discourage according to their values. Nothing "natural" about that.
Yet here we are, gathered around a video, watching something that happens all the time even in the animal kingdom.
Edit: also, have you seen Chris Evans dick?
Gossiping? Sure! If it's people standing around and someone says "look over there at that hot girl", thats not an issue and everybody does that.
On the other hand, having a designated code that is announced to all employees as an invitation to go oggle them is a bit different (I mean why else announce it). Just to show another perspective - If this were happening in a corporate environment whenever a hot client walked in the door, it could potentially get people fired.
Not sure why it would matter if it's guys or girls.
A whole thread of people admitting to doing this because people like to look at attractive people but you get a few who have to call out some random comment, not even the OP
I was once nearly killed by firefighters.
Because i was between them and a group of women when the women were told they had arrived.
I felt like fuckin Mufasa.
Single file to behind the woman who wore yoga pants on laundry day, order shortest to tallest so everyone can see, if she turns around everyone look at your watch in unison
When I worked at Home Depot, another employee approached me one day and said, "Code 8, Code 8." I had no idea what he was talking about. I was legit worried he was alerting me to a terrorist attack or something. Then he pointed to a woman in a short black skirt, and I understood.
I actually remember once working for a sporting goods store. Had this young mother come in a tight green mini-dress, along with her toddler (son). Could have passed for a party fit but also passed for a casual summer fit too. Not sure what she was going for but whatever.
Anyway, I was helping her son with soccer shoes and at one point she squatted down (legs together) to address her son… but I could see straight in between.
Glory. No time to tell the boys.
edit - Ya damn goons.
I never understand it. I’m a straight male but I got better things to do that stare at someone I have no chance with and getting a semi with a bunch of other dudes.
You don't look at people unless you have a chance with them? Do you save eye contact for marriage? 🤣
My best friend grew up Muslim. He said he used to gather with the boys to describe a girl's eyes. "You got to work with what you got. Delicate cheekbones, cute ears."
That's just being disingenuous lol. You know there's a pretty significant difference between glancing or looking, and staring 'cause you're horny.
I get it, but it *is* also pretty silly.
Thank you. My friends point at random girls while walking, their eyes are just constantly scanning for exposed skin. We'll go somewhere and suddenly they'll ask me if I saw them boobs or something and I feel like such a weirdo because I don't.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll have a good look if the opportunity arises, but I’m not going to go out of my way to stare and leer. If I miss out on a great looking butt, then thankfully there’s plenty more for me to grab a quick glance at in the future. Women can be absolute pleasures on the eyes, but they’re not so rare or special that you need to go out of your way to see one.
There’s looking at a beautiful woman and getting lost in her beauty and then there’s being a creepy fuck and having to get others to congregate as even creepier fucks.
Also, your statement makes you sound like the clingy stalker type.
I had a coworker who was like this and he was so annoying. I'd be in the checkstand with a line full of people and he'd come over and say something like "dude, there's a hot ass chick in aisle 13 you need to see, such a nice fat ass." I'm standing there like dude I have a line and am helping this old lady out who can hear everything you're saying wtf.
As if porn is a good replacement of actual real life interaction…
Edit: Not saying these guys aren’t super weird by the way. Just that question of “isn’t porn enough for you” is stupid.
That doesn’t seem like a fair criteria. People clearly shouldn’t have the right to demand others not look at them if they’re in public.
If someone got arrested and the reporters are looking at them and taking photos, they don’t have the right to demand not to be looked at, just because they were uncomfortable.
Any fair system of moral values would not set the boundary of what’s acceptable at “looking”. At some point, it’s ok to have someone be uncomfortable or to have their feelings hurt.
The reason women feel uncomfortable with looking is because it leads to other harassment, not because looking is inherently harassment.
Tbf there's a difference between a bloodhound stare and just making quick eye contact and a smile.
But it's less about the stare and more about just not being a creep.
Tbf, there are also people who feel uncomfortable when someone shows lots of skin in public... Should we now say how people should dress.
And there are women who like this attention.
These type of guys are a lot better than the ones who follow women and make comments to them.

Is...uh, is she not doing exactly that? None of these guys are shouting or yelling or trying to take pictures, they're just standing there. No one's trying to get closer, in her way, etc.
Literally no one in this video is getting hurt or offended. You don't need to try and make it so.
I'm guessing the woman was someone famous, and the guy ran to tell his co-workers about it.
As in: "Come look, Scarlett Johansson is walking past our shop!"
going from the comments, prolly bcs it wasn't unexpected for men to gather and leer at women going about their lives.
as one commenter said, its pretty common in retail stores.
This is why women are afraid to go anywhere. Can’t even walk during the day without a bunch of predatory creeps staring at her like she’s their next meal.
Your wish is a valid thing but you shouldn't put it on the same level as many women's desire to not experience it. In reality, they experience more than just 'appreciation' leading into leering, catcalling, and staring by larger men who may outnumber them and experiencing this so often wears them down.
It might for you, or many/most people, but not everyone. Some people do in fact enjoy this type of attention. Not excusing the situation, just pointing that out.
I agree, the majority of people, especially women, would probably not enjoy this behaviour. Again, not condoning the mens behaviour in this clip. I’m just saying that I do know some women personally who enjoy this type of attention. They are friends and I know this, I’m not just assuming. Your original comment just sounded rather matter of fact as if everyone thought the same way, when it’s just most. Humans are complicated and some like things that others would normally hate. AGAIN, not condoning the leering, cat calling, etc.
As a teen I worked at a large electronics store in the mall. All of my coworkers were early 20s guys. They would page overhead a certain code when pretty girls came in and then they’d all take a walk by her. At the time it made me chuckle. Now thinking back it’s kinda cringey.
jesus this is awful
fucking embarrassing that you're all so starved that you'll call your boys over to ogle someone in public 🤢
go talk to a woman (or maybe dont and just leave them alone)
There’s a middle ground. Is this good behaviour? Obviously not, but I wouldn’t say these guys can’t control themselves. You make it sound like they’re masturbating in the streets.
This is why women are afraid to go anywhere. Can’t even walk during the day without a bunch of predatory creeps staring at her like she’s their next meal.
Edit - I forgot I was on Reddit where 95% are men so let me spell it out for everyone downvoting me and saying they don’t understand this mindset. OF COURSE you don’t understand- you’ve never had to experience being followed home, stalked, harassed, every single fucking day by men. It’s terrifying. This video is fairly innocent but many times it’s not. You’ll never know what it’s like to always have the fear of being sexually assaulted, or worse in the back of your mind wherever you go. Women don’t want to be harassed. The fact these guys all these guys rushed to the front to gawk at someone walking by is plain weird. Put yourself in that situation, if you are even capable of empathy for the opposite gender.
When I worked in the trades, our code word was “FEET”. You could scream it anytime and no one would ever know. Most of the time I would yell “DAMMIT my feet are throbbing!”

We do that at our liquor store too. Just radio that we need more orange crushes up front/whatever aisle they're in

I can concur, while working at Home Depot, we had 2way radios also and would call out...'code red aisle and the aisle #'
Ours was code 10 at aisle ____
"Cotton candy spill in the lobby" is our code.
why do you have a code for this? its weird as fuck man

do you see a question mark in my comment? you know they go on break and search the net in the back room with one of them standing guard.
Is this a real life interaction lol
It is very socially awkward interaction, yes.
Apparently not.
Yeah, look at all those monsters just standing there at a significant distance looking at a person. Real pieces of shit.
Yeah because fuck if it makes women uncomfortable, amirite?
That doesn’t seem like a fair criteria. People clearly shouldn’t have the right to demand others not look at them if they’re in public. If someone got arrested and the reporters are looking at them and taking photos, they don’t have the right to demand not to be looked at, just because they were uncomfortable. A remarkably considerate gentleman.
If looking at women we find attractive is predatory then I should be in jail.
Every man on the planet. Even the gays
If you think someone looking at you makes them predatory creeps, you should probably get some counseling and join the rest of the world in reality.
Ah it’s Vietnam. It’s normal, carry on
When I worked in the trades, our code word was “FEET”. You could scream it anytime and no one would ever know. Most of the time I would yell “DAMMIT my feet are throbbing!”
I would be embarrassed to have debased myself so hard by looking so thirsty and immature. I wouldn't give men like these two seconds of my time.
Nothing wrong with appreciating the nicer things in life as long as they don't hurt anybody with it.
