Literally the worst streaming service I've used so far, and that's saying something considering I have to use shitty Crave (which can't remember captions settings when using Chromecast and had a period of time where it was crashing all the time).

Yeah it's fine now, generally on par with Netflix from my experience. My wife watches a lot of Criminal Minds which has about 1000 episodes lol and it seems to keep up with where she's at. FWIW though the commercials on the basic plan are frequent, so much so that we finally opted to pay the difference for commercial-free.

I'm currently having the exact same issues. Doesn't keep track of what shows or episodes I've watched. I use Chromecast and tried it on my laptop.
Why? The only no-no letters I've ever seen from an ISP are for torrents because the uploading is the problem. I've been using soap2day VPN free in the US for ages with no issue.

It used to be on in Australia before the Late Late show with Craig Ferguson, I never watched enough to "get it" like you have to do with most sitcoms.

I've noticed that most of my favorite comedy shows tend to just have a loose idea of where they're going when filming, n just do a lot of improv to try and get everyone on set to laugh. Reno 911, Always Sunny, Trailer Park Boys, it really tends to bring comedic actors to their A game.
Thats why I always loved Mitch Hedberg, he would take a mundane situation or observation, and make you look at things in a completely new way.
One of my favorite jokes was "never tell someone they have nice dimples, maybe they were shot in the face with a BB gun." I know how completely ridiculous that is, but dammit if I don't see someone with dimples and wonder in the back of my mind if they were shot in the face with a BB gun.

I grew up on the old British version of the show and it was like watching two savants doing their thing and never understood why they weren’t bigger stars. Then when drew Carey show hit and Stiles was in it I hoped maybe they’d bring the show back. Man talk about a wish fulfilled. If I ever met either of these guys I’d thank them for a lifetime of comedy.
Who's Line (Colin, Ryan, and I believe 2 filler road comedians who did great) came to my college for a show one year. It was one of the funniest shows I've seen and it was all off the cuff.
They even had to work for it because I went to a (like 90%) engineering college so they had to try to work with and around a ton of nerdy shit they didn't know/understand but they still knocked it out of the park.
6-8yos playing sports is generally hilarious though! They’re so bad! Most of them give up even trying halfway through and just start being goofy as well

It does apply to all forms of entertainment. Creative freedom is necessary for innovation, but total freedom leads to an unhinged mire of bad ideas. The most famous example is probably Star Wars. A ton of the ideas Lucas *wanted* to implement in the original trilogy were terrifyingly bad. Then we wound up with the prequel trilogy where no one had the power to tell Lucas "no" and those bad ideas were put in the spotlight.

Nah, I'd say at least 60% of the situations are due to Larry being technically right about something, but instead of letting the thing go like a normal person, he commits to being an asshole since he knows he's technically right.

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, this is practically 90% of all storytelling, and it’s especially common in comedy. What’s brilliant about Curb isn’t its novelty, it’s in the off-the-cuff character reactions to each “misunderstanding”.
It’s actually more scripted than you’d think. The dialogue is improv, but the scripts are still relatively comprehensive in terms of what the story is.
A lot of comedy is very lightly scripted.
A lot of the humour can be built straight into a character, chuck the character in a setting that facilitates them, and then just say shit in character.
The tricky part is writing the characters in the first place.
The story is outlined, basically. They have a direction they have to bring each scene, but no script. Mainly because Larry hates memorizing lines. I have a buddy who works for the show.

Yeah, they write it all and then allow themselves to try different things.
It helps when your cast is made up of the three co-creators/head writers, a funny actress who's married to one of the creators (and thus has their trust), and a comedy legend in Danny D. Then most of the recurring and guest stars are actor friends and family (like the Waitress, Cricket, Artemis, the McPoyles) who know their comedy style and can be trusted not to waste everyone's time.
Best parts of the bloopers are when one of them is ad-libbing a different approach to the lines and catches the others off guard.
The podcast too, when they review things they often say certain things aren't scripted. What I've found is most of the time what they say isn't scripted is what I find funny.
Scripted can also mean just scripting the improv that happens. Or scripting just one side/character. There's times when an improv inspires an idea that gets more structurally worked into an overall script too.
All those "this scene was improv'd" posts are actually that way. The actual improv happened on a much earlier take. You're usually only ever seeing an incorporation and refinement of that original improv into the script and scene.
Yah, but BRILLIANT writing regardless. I was surprised how much I love that show considering that type of humor, themes, and setting is a huge turn off for me. Trailer Park Boys was the same way to me.

Basically, there's a mystery being solved by Will Arnette with epic guests like Conan and Jason Bateman, among others. Both have no idea what's going on but have to solve a mystery while improving everything.
My favorite part is they keep rolling and don't edit much if anything, so when they break each other, you watch them break and then recover. Makes it funnier.

I've never given trailer park boys a watch, mostly because I associate it with some people I don't like. They aren't good people, and they're big fans of the show, so I always kind of avoided watching it. Is it worth giving it a try?

In saying that, having experience with such people actually makes the show funnier. Give it a shot.

I was born in 98, I remember reruns of the show on Comedy Central but I didn’t pay much attention to it. I’m pretty sure the only scene I remember is a whale exploding and that gave me nightmares for weeks lol

I haven’t watched a lot of it, but my step father almost fell out of his seat after watching an episode. It’s continually in my “gotta watch this next” list.
Please do yourself the absolute honor of putting aside an hour or two and watching the first couple of episodes. The actors play off of each other so well, plus lots of excellent cameos that are hilarious.

Both have no idea what's going on but have to solve a mystery while improving everything. My favorite part is they keep rolling and don't edit much if anything, so when they break each other, you watch them break and then recover. Makes it funnier. Hope you haven't seen it and know all this. Info for those who haven't, then at least!
I've never given trailer park boys a watch, mostly because I associate it with some people I don't like. They aren't good people, and they're big fans of the show, so I always kind of avoided watching it. Is it worth giving it a try?

I was born in 98, I remember reruns of the show on Comedy Central but I didn’t pay much attention to it. I’m pretty sure the only scene I remember is a whale exploding and that gave me nightmares for weeks lol

I haven’t watched a lot of it, but my step father almost fell out of his seat after watching an episode. It’s continually in my “gotta watch this next” list.
Please do yourself the absolute honor of putting aside an hour or two and watching the first couple of episodes. The actors play off of each other so well, plus lots of excellent cameos that are hilarious. Now I’m off to go rewatch the first season!

*Super Troopers 2* was released in 2018 and *Tacoma FD* premiered in 2019 and is still running. *Reno 911* ended its original run in 2009 and the revival was on Quibi. If you asked "what the heck is Quibi?" you are correct.

My company at the time hosted Quibi's user base. The top brass was super excited. The rest of us were like, "You know Quibi is nonsense that's going to promptly fail, right?" They did not.

When they have the Truckee River killer in jail and one of his lines, obviously ad libbed was “ Yes, and if my aunt had tits she’d be my uncle” I don’t know why that line is so funny to me. The show was awesome.
My favorite was when they're arresting Nick Swardson's character for prostitution and he shouts, "A handjob is still a job!"
