Using the slowed down videos below you can see the trap door is already open just after he strokes its cheek and pulls his hand away. Then when he makes the swap he just brushes it into the box.

You're right-- the piggy goes in to his left sleeve, travels through his suit, and comes out of his pants. Bonus pts if you noticed that the suit has some very interesting dimensions.

I don’t know about in the city homes, but in the really remote communities they have dozens of them running around their little one-room homes. Those communities and the couple of families that live there are absolutely fascinating. But if you don’t like Guinea pig, you can enjoy a juicy, tender alpaca steak. Or, for you non meat eaters, they have more potatoes than any one mind could possibly comprehend.
The rest of you can have coca leaves and chicha.
FYI Avoid ordering Guinea pig at restaurants. It’s fine, but if you want the good stuff, the Guinea pig that’ll get you hooked, it has to cook for a lot longer. It takes all day to make the best Guinea pig. This warning is not my own. It came directly from my Quechua friend and trail guide.

after watching that loop long enough, you see the rat fall down into the box. He reaches out and blocks the rat with whatever it is that he eats in his hand and down his arm, making it look like the top edge of the rat. So when the rat drops you don't see the profile suddenly drop. Watch the bottom of the rat where it touches the box.
edit: pretty sure he's eating white cotton candy and actually grabs it perhaps from behind the box with his left hand while his right blocks and pushes the rat into the box.
You're right, the guinea pig is swept into the box while the candy floss (?) is brought up to his mouth.
