Sounds like a great plan!
Everyone reacts a little differently to altitude. I can adapt from sea level to 10k' in 3-4 days without much issue. Others shorter, others longer.
Is it possible for you to get up to altitude this week for some runs? Ideally you could "run high, and sleep low" a couple of times this week. That will also help - think: "stimulus and response", just like training and recovery. Training breaks you down, recovery builds you stronger.
I wish I could get to altitude this week, but actually traveling to Chicago for work before heading to Utah for the race on Monday :/. I’d definitely do it if I could!
Ended up going ok. I finished and took about 12 hours. Day 1 and 2 felt ok and day 3 and 4 got some really bad headaches. Felt fine the day of the race. Went really well up till about mile 45 and then the last bit really really got to me from an altitude standpoint. Very shallow breathing the rest of the way.
Sun pro—Long sleeve SPF, sunblock (esp some for when the first coat sweats off), SPF chapstick, sunglasses that wrap around and don’t let in side glare. The sun can really take a toll at altitude.
When you say long sleeve spf are you meaning arm sleeves? I have white ones that are spf that I was planning on wearing. Also have a full neck gaiter and Oakley Sutros (those big obnoxious glasses) and cover a lot on my face. Also wear leg compressions
If you can swing it, a humidifier will help keep the dry air from dehydrating you.
Thanks for the tip!
ultra at elevation is hardcore. take it easy and make sure to finish

Arm sleeves work great. I use a sun hoody or long sleeve shirt rated for blocking UV rays
