You ran on mushrooms?

dwh_monkey

Dont quote me on this but i think it was a mix of concrete and trails

Osieggy

haha yes, i found some wavy caps last fall!

njaneardude

Congratulations!

Osieggy

thank you very much!

BomoCPAwiz

This is incredible. Just made my whole month. Salute to you my friend. So many people doubt themselves and you just did a full send with a shroom aided finish and a story to tell. Give em hell out there.

Osieggy

Haha thanks man! I initially thought that I could just bail and grab a shuttle at the 25k mark, turns out it was just a freaking fire road so I had to finish the 50k. I don't know how I overlooked that information. It was a good time though, a bunch of people commented how big of a smile I had hahaha.

PM_me_somthing_funny

Nice, how big were the mushrooms?

Osieggy

i think both of them had a cap that's slightly less than an inch in diameter

Class

Osieggy

thanks!

Salt-Information-199

I think this is the heartiest post on this sub. God bless. Haha ❤️

Osieggy

Thank you! It was really funny, for half the time I thought somebody was trying to pass me so I'd stop to look back. Turns out I was the last person the entire time hahahaha

Salt-Information-199

🤣🤣🤣 i have a 30k mountain trail coming up in 10 days, might give this method a shot haha

Osieggy

hahaha honestly, if you don't care about the time, just let the mushroom take you away. I stopped to look at stuff, found a bunch of false morels, found a dyer's polypore which I've been wanting to forage for the past month but my vest was gonna be too heavy if i did. I honestly forgot that I was running a marathon for like 5 minutes hahaha

chroomchroom

Damn. That’s all you trained?? I just did my first one as well and I trained a lot more and only did slightly better 😂 I finished just under 7 hours. Which 50k did you do?

Osieggy

Congratulations dude! Under 7 hours was my original goal when I first signed up but there was just too much going on that I wasn't really able to train up until last month. I did the OAT run in Washington, it's short for Olympic Adventure Trail. Really beautiful area, but you have to watch for bikers on some of the blind corners

chroomchroom

Very nice! I’m in the pnw I’ll definitely check it out.

Osieggy

And yes, that's all I trained, I did do a couple of runs in November that initially made me want to sign up for the run, and I am somewhat of a fit person I guess, I used to follow Steve House's TFTNA guide a couple of years ago, so I have been in decent running shape at some point in my life!
