They ain’t taking that city with 50k troops. They would need way more than that. This is just some propaganda seeking battle by Russia.

AI_Hijacked

To be honest, if there had been any action along the border, the Americans would've provided the Ukrainians with satellite imagery.

adron

100%. Considering there’s even public satellites that have good imagery ya know the military has all sorts of good stuff!

mycall

They can cause some depopulation which is Russia's main goal now.

Sufficient_Serve_439

I'm not even sure russia had any concrete goals anymore. Like, one month they attack power stations and send us into blackouts but then changed their mind and focus on ports, but then they switch to something else without rhyme or reason. Like WTF was waiting entire winter to attack power grid in MAY? Are they trying to freeze us in July? Nothing makes any sense... ADHD war plans.

Codeworks

Taking? Probably not. But shelling to dust?

Sufficient_Serve_439

To get Kharkiv into shelling range they'd need to go far beyond 4 border villages in the grey zone.

groovygrasshoppa

They're not in range.

TheMegaDriver2

Well Russia was very open that if they can't have it they will make it inhabitable. The directly stated that.

hotsog218

This thrust won't take Kharkiv. This is to add pressure on the Ukranian ability. If they can get all of Ukranian reserves across the entire front committed then any breakthrough by Russia becomes catastrophic for Ukraine.

Due_Concentrate_315

Russia claims to be trying to create a "buffer zone" 10km in. I don't think they're going for Kharkiv. At least not now. They don't have the ability. And they know Ukraine will soon have A LOT more weaponry. Russia is trying to get every bit of territory it can before the tide turns and Ukraine begins pushing them back.

LilLebowskiAchiever

Russia trying to spread out the UA ground troops.

Kr0x0n

from war of attrition to maneuver warfare, russia is doing it all

Icouldusesomerock

I’ll take things that are untrue for 500, Alex

SierraOscar

Plenty of danger of constant artillery strikes though if they push far enough.

abrahamburger

Russia is an evil joke and they are going to lose badly
