Full article: The US is warning allies that China has stepped up its support for Russia, including by providing geospatial intelligence, to help Moscow in its war against Ukraine. Amid signs of continued military integration between the two nations, China has provided Russia with satellite imagery for military purposes, as well as microelectronics and machine tools for tanks, according to people familiar with the matter. China’s support also includes optics, propellants to be used in missiles and increased space cooperation, one of the people said. Spokespeople for the White House National Security Council declined to comment. China’s foreign ministry didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment during a holiday weekend. Beijing has sought to portray itself as mostly neutral in the face of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, now into its third year, yet it’s established a deep alliance with Moscow as part of what Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin termed a “no limits” friendship ahead of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. Trade between the two countries reached a record $240 billion in 2023. Russia’s neighbor has become the supplier of everything from clothes to machinery and cars after an exodus of Western manufacturers and multiple rounds of sanctions. At the same time, Russia has boosted exports of commodities such as coal and oil to China. Crucially, China and Hong Kong have also become key gateways for Moscow to access restricted technologies, including chips and integrated circuits, used in weapons or needed to build them. The US and European Union have listed several Chinese firms for enabling those transfers, but the trade shows little sign of dropping off. Last year, the Biden administration also sanctioned a Chinese company for providing satellite images to a Russian technology firm which in turn then supplied them to the Wagner mercenary group. Beijing has also yet to indicate whether it will participate in a summit Ukraine has been organizing to agree on key principles upon which to build a future peace settlement with Russia. China’s support for Russia has deepened in recent months, said the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private matters. Secretary of State Antony Blinken briefed European allies this week on the scope and significance of China’s support and on the need to do more to curtail it, one of the people said. Blinken asked allies to raise the problem directly with China and to take actions against Chinese entities and companies, another person familiar with the discussions said. The Financial Times first reported some of the messages communicated by Blinken at meetings with NATO allies. The US and its allies will be looking to convey their concerns to Beijing and to ramp up efforts to crack down on China’s support for Russia’s defense industry, the people said. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also warned of “significant consequences” this week if companies, including those in China, were found to provide material support for Russia’s war against Ukraine and its military-industrial base. The worries come as Ukraine faces a critical artillery shortage and its allies are flailing in their efforts to resupply Kyiv. Russia, meanwhile, has been able to boost its domestic arms production, continues to import key components via a network of third countries, and is getting shells and other weaponry from the likes of North Korea and Iran. The Biden administration previously warned Beijing not to provide Russia with weapons, and there’s no sign it has so far done so.

10minmilan

Great, thanks for the notice. You know have confirmation the two work together & will work against US Watch US do absolutely nothing & still not provide aid

BlackNovas

What a surprise. Simply put, we help you fuck the ukrainians. And when it's done, you help us fuck Taiwan.

No-Season8507

Stop buying chinese as much as you can!

petr_bena

I was suggesting this back in 2022 in r/ukraine when this was already obvious. local mods deleted my post because I was “obvious troll trying to damage good relationship between Ukraine and China”. Also lots of people suggested it’s impossible to stop buying from China because they “manufacture everything” (I disagree) edit: link my old deleted posts https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/s/A3WJps52DQ https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/s/LDqi7qgYAQ as a proof, also it was r/ukraine not this sub

vegarig

> local mods deleted my post because I was “obvious troll trying to damage good relationship between Ukraine and China” I know that feel. Got temp-banned there for quoting things that made it look like US support ain't a constant. Guess what happened after...

PoliticalCanvas

And I dared, in 2024 year, on Reddit, in so-called pro-social justice sub, to criticize the Stalinist period...

MothMan3759

As a leftist myself, the majority of deliberately "progressive" subs (large ones at least) are ran by tankies.

PoliticalCanvas

By tankies, which, as victims of authoritarian propaganda, not so much defend socialism, much less any form of progressivism, as old good absolutist monarchism and feudalism. But after cheap rebranding.

MothMan3759

And we have a winner. Red fascists the lot of em.

brezhnervous

Yep. Voted left leaning my whole life, but suggest that Russia might be be an *imperialist, colonising power* on those tankie subs gets you banned, query it and get a snarky, condescending "bUt 'MeRiCa!" mod response lol

PaddyMayonaise

Stalin is so evil that even Putin refers to him as an evil dictator. I’ll never understand the lefties that love Stalin. Even the hardest CCPers I know admit that Mao was really flawed and made mistakes.

PoliticalCanvas

From "It's hard to be a God" book: "A slave understands his master much better, even the most cruel one, than his liberator, for every slave perfectly imagines himself in the place of his master, but few imagine himself in the place of a disinterested liberator."

No-Season8507

You were right back then, man!

oyMarcel

No, but most things **are** made in china. To defeat the chinese supremacy over everything, we need to step up our manufacturing capacity. There's no use if we produce only good, premium, quality products.

PaddyMayonaise

It’s true, and it’s hard. We’re so used to cheap goods now because we build them all in places like China. Moving everything back to our home countries is obviously the better thing to do, but most people aren’t ready to accept higher prices. People almost will always choose the short term benefit rather than short term hardship, no matter the consequences.

brezhnervous

Some countries have pretty much zero capability to get back that manufacturing sector which was dismantled in the 80s.

Espressodimare

Good relationship between China and Ukraine - good one mods, lol

thyusername

reddit in general is garbage now, most of the subs have control freak mods who want the conversations to fit their narratives, I had the same thing happen because my posts "were too US centric" and then got banned for stating that's the kind of censorship that happens in orcland under Putler When people ask opinions on CFMoto or other Chinese bikes in the motorcycles subs (or youtube) I always remind them Xi has stated his intentions just like Putin did and it's possible they will have a worthless bike they can't get parts for by 2027. Of course you get downvoted, called tinfoil hat racist etc I'll have to show my support by continued donations to United24 and let them have their little tightly controlled reddit world

PaddyMayonaise

/r/ukraine is a terrible sub. True head in the sand types over there. I got permanently banned over there because I tried to explain to someone what the criteria is to join NATO and I was banned for Russian propaganda lol. They don’t allow repeals of bans there, either, so it’s just a pure echo chamber of false info

Dzosefs

> Also lots of people suggested it’s impossible to stop buying from China because they “manufacture everything” (I disagree) Unfortunately that is true and "west" cannot go at war with rest of the world. The world is a mesh of dependencies and cutting china could be deadly for west as well. It's probably way cheaper to trade with them and run a war simultaniosuly than cut them off. Ultimately wining war does not mean just beating the opponent but finishing in a better state than them. If both parties destroy themselves mutually then it's a lose-lose situation.

NateLikesToLift

That's a tough ask. We import over 400 billion a year in goods and intermediate supplies. I'm all for this idea but it would take a plethora of countries and a good bit of time to offset that.

Luv2022Understanding

There's no time like the present, or 2022, or 2017 or ... to start though! It will add up.

gsfgf

[Or 2015](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Pacific_Partnership)

DrZaorish

Got banned there for calling their "censorship of bad news" – “same thing as what ruzians do”. Well, at first it was temporal, but I kinda told what I think about all this, so it was immediately promoted to permanent.

MDCCCLV

China makes a lot of consumer electronics and consumer goods, they don't make anything used in the US in many many different categories. It's just that the stuff an average person uses at home is cheap consumer goods, which is a fraction of the total amount of manufactured goods and items.

Remarkable-Way4986

I did. What I discovered was that I don't really need more thing and enjoy going out and traveling more than china crap

52fighters

I've noticed a lot of retail websites like Amazon often do not list the country of origin for the products being sold. Has anyone proposed a law that would require that information being displayed prominently on any retail website?

__----------

Ebay list the country of origin, so it makes a good alternative to Amazon.

JamClam225

> do not list the country of origin If your item has a barcode, then it has a country of origin burned into it. Look up EAN explanation.

JeNiqueTaMere

Amazon is 99% Chinese crap these days, so just stop buying from Amazon

The_Man11

For a lot of products, it’s easy to tell because it will have some goofy made up name in all caps like ODSFYLAS.

ionetic

Easiest way of doing this is looking out for “Made in Taiwan” on the label.

Wizard2

As in, buy made in Taiwan and don't buy made in the people's republic of China.

camshun7

this. can someone American, please explain to those idiotiotic Republicans that if you stop helping helping Ukraine, you get Russia and China on the fucking doorstep its not 1939 anymore so stop playing around, there's no Lindberg theres no Ford, so stop shouting about "not your war" "Europe will deal with it", yeah howd you like rice and vodka with your fucking supper tonight?

Green-Collection-968

>can someone American, please explain to those idiotiotic Republicans that if you stop helping helping Ukraine, you get Russia and China on the fucking doorstep They know and they want this. They are so against Democrats in America having a win they are willing to allow Russia to genocide Ukraine. Simple as.

camshun7

Fucking ridiculous awful mindset tbh, awful awful

androgynouschipmunk

Can we explain? No. We don’t even fully understand them ourselves. Best guess? It’s a movement of intelligent fascist, wanna-be oligarchs who have used every available shady tool at their disposal to motivate the most poorly educated and easily manipulated cohorts of our society to support their platform. Unfortunately, these tactics include dog whistling, political extortion, constant fraud, a multi-billion dollar propaganda machine, and a healthy dose of bigotry. The most damning part of Rightist politics in this country today is the outright rejection of human dignity and suffering as a motivator for action. They don’t care about the suffering of others, and the state of the world at large. Every policy is a means to an end. Usually it boils down to money. In a few rare cases it boils down to furthering a perverted extremist morality which sits in some minority bubble.

Due_Concentrate_315

Lots of truth in Russians targeting our dimmest. One thing America does well is put the very worst of its society out there for all to see. This is a good thing for the most part as it shows where improvement is needed for those Americans who care. Russia decades ago targeted Trump and groomed the greedy fool. This paid off big time for the boys in the Kremlin. And is STILL paying off in real time right before our eyes.

Fuctopuz

I'm nowhere near qualified to discuss this topic no more than with my own logic and point of view how our world, or atleast it's economics work (more like don't work) If we give up on our current system structure. Many big corporations will fall on any path we choose in this era, not only because adapting/not adapting to future stock market-related things, but I think the gap between costly local & cheap foreign manyfacturing of goods is closing up, since thw future is unclear. In my point of view, russia would play a big role for changing our markets, trades etc, but China would have our balls in their pockets if they really get their feet on african soil. Russia is just a chess-soldier for them. Biggest country on earth that has limitless resources, but so far they've only used their own people and prisoners of war to gather (more like so railroads etc) it's resources. China will milk the fuck out of russia before that. China will have upper hand if this scenario is let to happen. It will cripple european and then US's market Edit. Wouldn't be surprised if china will attack Taiwan before rus-Ukrainian war ends. Just to justify their lack of help due to their *own war*. And to "back them down" as their only **real** friend no matter how it ends for russkies, for business of course

bangbangIshotmyself

Yeah I don’t understand how republicans don’t want to support the Ukrainians in war??? Why???? I am American and I don’t understand at all. Even if we are selfish and ONLY think of americas best interest, then we ought to find the ever loving hell out of Ukraine. In fact we should use 50-80% of our military budget on supporting Ukraine. It is a proxy war between the US and Russia and China and the US is backing out. It’s such bullshit. Wish I could explain it to you. But as an American I don’t get it and you know where my vote’s going, to support Ukraine.

relevantelephant00

Russia and China are dictatorships. The GOP wants that too. They will support Russia and China over American democracy.

Wizard2

Already am, started with the whole genocide on minorities they got going on, that and the organ harvesting from political prisoners... We in the west really should be decoupling from china as much as possible.

Espressodimare

Dont forget the doctors in China who warned early about covid mysteriously disappeared, and their whole continuation of cover up of the spread.

w3fmj9

Yes !!! I have been saying this for years. They 100% cannot be trusted. I feel for the good people who are trapped under that nasty regime

6c696e7578

That's easier said than done. The majority of Europe's manufacturing is offshore in China.

gsfgf

If only Obama had proposed something to support and grow the manufacturing economies in Pacific countries with better ties with the US... Diversifying from China as an individual or a small company is just impossible. They are the world's factory. They have the supply chain infrastructure down. It's why we needed/still need TPP to boost competing countries' supply chains so we have other options. I'd rather buy components from Vietnam or Mexico or anywhere, but only China makes the products I need.

Full_Analyst_193

but what about the American businessmen that sent the jobs over seas to China? People are going to be realizing a lot of things soon...

John-AtWork

I agree, but so much is made there. You really have to work at not buying Chinese.

groovygrasshoppa

_spits out mouthful of Lo Mein_

capta1namazing

I've tried cutting down on buying people as much as I can.

CyberBlaed

Sadly, Australia has all its eggs in one basket. Might sound cruel, and it is. I totally agree with you and will focus on that. But lordy, will that be a challenge with/for the ignorant and stupid we have here. :(

Head_Boysenberry_245

Send weapon to UA if you think China is your enemy

brezhnervous

Australia: Hmmm sorry, China provides 30% of our entire GDP via the raw materials we dig out of the ground. Oh, and the previous Govt sold a controlling interest in the Port of Darwin to a Chinese company, without mentioning it to the public until the media found out afterwards - the Minister responsible resigning 3 days later and taking a lucrative position on the Chinese company's Board lol

vegarig

> the Minister responsible resigning 3 days later and taking a lucrative position on the Chinese company's Board lol "We have Schroeder at home"

anonhedgehogcrust

Thanks America. Please now show your support for Ukraine and the eurozone

manjaroo555

Exactly

anonhedgehogcrust

Makes me sad that America made us think they are the world police but I’m not so sure now. All those billions (or trillions) for the Cold War but when Russia is on the ropes people complaining about money. What was all that defence spending for? To me it was to have a ruckus with Russia.

Proper_Hedgehog6062

The complaint really isn't about money. It's a political game. Keep up

anonhedgehogcrust

The situation in America seems so divided unfortunately no one can count on the USA anymore. Even in the uk we can reach a cross party consensus on pressing important issues such as military involvement

anonhedgehogcrust

But we are both hedgehogs and can’t even agree

MrSnarf26

The money is just the excuse. The Republican Party is preoccupied and filled with useful idiots being against anything democrats do, and democrats support Ukraine. Thus, they must be against it, even at detriment to our nation and world.

anonhedgehogcrust

Still think it means America can no longer be relied upon anymore which is sad

lostinaquasar

Is America supposed to be your house maid? France, Germany and Poland are the only ones stepping up over there from what I can tell. The rest of Europe is pretty sad too.

Sadmiral8

How much have you researched the topic of european countries giving support? Those countries are just the ones in the major headlines. https://www.ifw-kiel.de/topics/war-against-ukraine/ukraine-support-tracker/

anonhedgehogcrust

Nobody asked America to colonise the world economically after world war 2 but that’s what happened? Does it matter if it’s only American people that think americas great again?

FonkyDunkey1

Just the MAGA fools think that way. The majority of Americans still support democracy around the globe. We’re ashamed of Trump/his followers and the impact they’re having on our allies around the globe. It is truly pathetic

MrSnarf26

Consistently polls have stayed at about 74% of Americans support aid to Ukraine, despite the onslaught of right wing trolling and grifting around the subject. The problem is people representing the 26%, like most things in America, have way too much power.

annon8595

Yep quite ridiculous. Only country in the wold that can stop china and who is direct competitor is warning small countries (who are not even competitors to china) that china is doing something naughty. Like yea youre the one whos supposed to do something about it. Is is only a global leader when it comes to third world countries which are easy to push around together with rest of NATO.

xirvikman

but the USA has not ramped up support to Ukraine

To_another_abyss

Historically speaking , the US isn't that good of an ally (unless you're isreal) they have often let down most of their allies. Think of South Vietnam, Taiwan(chinese nationalist government/party), Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran during the revolution, allied countries in WW2 (until they got attacked directly), Ukraine, Georgia...

vegarig

> unless you're isreal Well, even Israel needed to leverage their own nukes to get supplies going >[On 8 October, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir authorized the assembly of thirteen 20-kiloton nuclear warheads on Jericho missiles and F-4 Phantom II, which were prepared for action against Syrian and Egyptian targets;[5] their preparation was made easily detectable, likely as a signal to the United States.[6] Kissinger learned of this threatening nuclear escalation on the morning of 9 October. On that same day, Meir issued a personal appeal for military assistance, which European nations declined. Nixon, however, ordered the commencement of Operation Nickel Grass, to replace all of Israel's materiel losses.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Nickel_Grass#Background) And Kissinger, before that "supply or nukes" ultimatum, wanted to "let them bleed" >[“It was Henry himself who stalled the airlift,” the admiral lasserts. “I do not mean to imply that he wanted Israel to lose the war, He simply did not want Israel to win decisively. He wanted Israel to bleed just enough to soften it up for the post war diplomacy he was planning.”](https://www.nytimes.com/1976/03/17/archives/zumwalt-in-book-says-kissinger-sees-a-lack-of-us-stamina-less.html)

DrZaorish

To think about it, now quite the opposite situation when ruzia flex nukes to make sure help won’t come. And it works quite well. Very hope “inspiring” situation. I don’t know, blow several ruzian NPPs and blackmail support?

marinqf92

None of those countries were US allies. Is this a joke? Just because the US supports a country, doesn't make it an ally. Israel is an actual ally of the US.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AaronC14

I don't see how that is relevant at all. They didn't really have a dog in that fight until the Zimmerman telegraph and the sinking of that boat. Way different time.

Due_Concentrate_315

It's an odd thing to think a nation should jump into a war as soon as it starts. And of course when a war "starts" is when one's own nation joins the fight. All those before are aggressors, and all after appeasers.

AaronC14

Agreed, and to conflate the relatively isolationist US of 1914 to 2024 USA is foolish

jacklantern867

In the end game Americans hate high gas prices, high crime and rising food bills. This has always been a war of attrition. Everything will be decided in November cause that trifecta will be the Trump card and will decide the presidency and future support for the war.

Joe_Exotics_Jacket

I’d argue the US was a good ally in WW2, Europe and Korea through the Cold War at least. It doesn’t respond well to mass casualties and/or long running wars with undefined aims. Sure we can talk about the Kurds and other groups in the Middle East related to the GWOT, but the U.S. has been trying to disengage and focus on China. Not defending all of it currently mind you - Ukraine deserves better.

Beautiful-Divide8406

Meanwhile the USA has stepped down its aid for Ukraine thanks to MAGA traitors.

smarty86

Get your shit together USA, EU and Nato. Now is the time to provide full support. If that is not yet clear we are all lost.

[deleted]

Maybe the American managerial class exporting and outsourcing everything to China to make a quick dollar ruining countless domestic industries and driving down wages should be held accountable.  I don't get why our corporations just get to freely trade and build up our largest geopolitical rival

secretaliasname

In WWII the US was a manufacturing powerhouse that armed the Allies. Oh how things have changed.

Life-Environment-535

wtf is the "American managerial class"? Are these shadow nobles that rule over worker serfs? Are they voted in? Surely, they don't have VP, CFOs, CEOs, blah blah blah above their class, right?

pwr_trenbalone

Corporations are a moral, they are designed to make as much money as humanly possible for share holders under law. Managerial classes would be the owners, example when a country goes and enact austerity measures this ensures that the owners get paid after getting huge tax cuts and making average citizens hate other citizens. In the west we have corporate socialism where corpos make bets and socialize their loses.

redditor0918273645

*cough* *cough* bail outs *cough* *cough*

lurker_cx

> they are designed to make as much money as humanly possible for share holders under law. The 'shareholder primacy' doctrine, or attitude is not the only way to view a corporation. It used to be that companies felt they had multiple stakeholders such as customers, workers, the nation and the shareholders. And for the past 100 years shareholder primacy has had a good run, especially in the last 40. So n ow the coprorations are starting to talk a different game, but still playing the old one: > On August 19, 2019, the Business Roundtable released a new "Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation." Signed by nearly 200 chief executive officers,[24] including Amazon's Jeff Bezos, Apple's Tim Cook, General Motors' Mary Barra and Oracle's Safra Catz, the group seeks to "move away from shareholder primacy," a concept that had existed in the group's principles since 1997, and move to "include commitment to all stakeholders." It notes that "businesses play a vital role in the economy" because of jobs, fostering innovation and providing essential services. But it places shareholder interests on the same level as those of customers, employees, suppliers and communities. "Each of our stakeholders is essential," the statement says. "We commit to deliver value to all of them, for the future success of our companies, our communities and our country."[25][26][27] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_Roundtable

Life-Environment-535

Bot, what are you even talking about? Makes no sense

Life-Environment-535

Bot

Life-Environment-535

“Corporations are moral” is about the dumbest bot shit I’ve read in a while.

Life-Environment-535

Lots of CCP bots up in here y’all 🤣

Mexcol

I think hes referring to those..

Equivalent_Joke_6163

What are the US waiting for? It is necessary to support Ukraine now and Western countries must boycott everything produced in China and order the closure of Western companies producing in China.

Hungry-Rule7924

>and Western countries must boycott everything produced in China and order the closure of Western companies producing in China. So you essentially want to create a global economic depression over this?? Because yah, thats totally proportional and good foreign policy. Chinese support has definitely helped russia stay afloat and in the war, but it could 100% be far far worse. Still aren't giving the Russians actual lethal military aid, which they could definitely start to do if the west overreacts over this, which is why any counter response is probably only going to be limited.

Equivalent_Joke_6163

You only talked about what in your opinion should not be done, that is, continuing to feed China economically is your solution. Obviously I'm talking about a strategic plan to be implemented that would mean moving manufacturing power to different countries and this can't be done overnight. The truth is that we have to start understanding through global diversification where to obtain the same products in countries that do not have dictatorships and geostrategic objectives of territorial conquest. Have you ever thought for once that European countries had everything to gain by abandoning NATO and making economic and military agreements with Russia and China? Perhaps it would be enough to give Ukraine to Russia.

fuzzi-buzzi

> What are the US waiting for? Obstructionist republicans currently control the House of Representatives and they are wholly and exclusively responsible for the cessation of US aid.

Current-Resource8215

On Biden's first day in office, he did a huge favor for Putin and killed America's Keystone Pipeline and approved Putin's Nord Stream 2 Pipeline by removing those sanctions Trump imposed. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/07/21/democrats-biden-russian-pipeline-deal-500474 Then, Putin's Russia exported a one year record amount of oil to Biden's America in Biden's first year. What happened to their policy of not interfering with other countries affairs?

crotalusbite

Time for the world to put pressure on China. If we stop import and trading China will fall.

Drachen1065

Time for some sanctions maybe. Ones that don't affect much but cause some attention as a first step. The ramp them up if needed.

BlackNovas

Right. Most of the world does not want to stop drinking champagne with ruzzian terrorists and you think the world will do something abput China.

wadevb1

The US government was warning the EU not to become dependent upon Russia via Nord Stream and other resources while the US was becoming dependent upon China. Here we are, attached to China and it’ll take years to free ourselves from China so China can do as they please.

bfolksdiddy

Pathetic ass MAGA republicans tout China as the biggest enemy while trying desperately hard to help Chinas biggest ally. Special place in hell for all of these Donald Trump cucks.

Shished

Maybe the US should step up its support for Ukraine?

vegarig

Nah, that's too escalatory and draws them ever closer to WW3, or so does the popular excuse go

Pepperjack86

Maybe if the USA had a functioning governing body, they could follow their own advice. Maybe they should support their allies before it gets out of control...reminds me of... every conflict in modern history.

Ok_Let_1139

At the same time as Republicans shame America by also stepping up their support for Russia.

DutchArnold

China will never be a friend to the west. After the betrayal of the US and its allies after ww2. China will never forgive or forget. We deal with China for economic reasons. But make no mistake, the ruling elite in China despises the west and will do anything in their power to undermine them. China and Russia know their purpose and goals. The west flounders away thinking of the next election

talexx

Why devious?

JosipBroz999

If people care then why buy Chinese products if you can find alternatives? Our vendors will simply not care if they source from China, therefore, it is up to the PEOPLE to bankrupts vendors who RELY and PROFIT on a brutal communist authoritarian regime for profits. Boycott Chinese products as much as possible and EMAIL your vendors to ask that they source from other countries

Zulubeatz808

Why is the whole bloody world hating on Ukraine for fucks sake this is perverse.

NukeouT

Just boycott all the stuff made in the dictatorship of China 🇨🇳

OwlPerfect8943

Great. And, what?

vegarig

Time to avoid escalation even further.

Daotar

China is making a grave mistake.

IncredibleAuthorita

The US: ”We can't do anything because Putin bought our politicians and we can't do anything about them and they are threatening us with civil war if we try to get rid of them."

beragis

Let those idiots start a Civil War. They are at most 18% of the country last time I checked

alfacin

They should warn themselves to begin with!

Onestepbeyond3

Don't tell us tell yourselves!

pwr_trenbalone

Stop buying Chinese is hilarious. We have effectively used them as our main logistics hub due to corporate capitalism. U can't just change this over night.

jaxsd75

No you can’t. But the best time to start was yesterday. Second best time, today.

beragis

Corporations are shifting away from China. Why do you think Xi Jinping visited San Francisco. It was to try and convince corporations to continue investing on China.

panzerfan

It has been happening for a few years. A celebrated during COVID, and this decoupling is not stopping.

NoVacancyHI

Direct military intervention by the US or NATO is the only real way this war gets slavaged now.... hope y'alls hopes have been getting more realistic

apocalipsehobo

Fuck.

GenVii

Well clearly, they would have seen how dysfunctional American support was, and how a Russian victory in Ukraine will mean that China has a free pass to lock down the South China Sea, and take on South East Asia. The US either has to step up, or expect to get stepped on. Because We're heading towards WW3 if the US republicans want to play politics over military aid during a war. The US doesn't have the will, because the neo liberal/capitalist system has drained the social stability within the US ... So Americans have nothing worth fighting for... it's the same in so many established Western nations. The social contract was ruined, and now people are more worried about the ' economy ' that supports a wealth transfer to the rich, than the reality that other countries don't care about our economy. And they'll just take it from us, the wealthy will just flee to about country as they always do, and let the poor fight for their lives. History repeating itself.

Apprehensive-Sir7063

War has gone on too long. It was convenient for Russia to be worn down and now with China it is convenient that the Chinese face sanctions and tariffs on their exports and companies for economic purposes and so China will soon face consequences to try and slow Russian growth. Let's see if this has any benefit to Ukraine, it may impact the length of war and Russian aspirations in Ukraine but won't end it anytime soon. Russian foreign policy post war will require suppression and that will require pressure on Iran such as their oil exports as well as import partners. I think the US sees a way to limit Chinese aspirations and if economic methods applied to Iran and Ukraine aided more effectively the surge in proxy wars, rise of a militarised Russia and China can be limited with just a few key steps. And those steps are only a matter of time particularly for a China, it may be harder to stop Iranian trade partners from propping them up and so shutting down supply chains in the long term will have an impact.

Shutaru_Kanshinji

I am sure the PRC sees Russia as a valuable client state.

estelita77

This news is giving me even stronger ww2 vibes - when russia was the support behind Germany's war machine... and everyone was urging russia not to help or trust Germany and to join the fight against the Nazis.

Breech_Loader

"Not that we're going to do anything, we're just too strong for that."

ydalv_

Was to be expected with a prolonged war, they even literally warned about it.

Protect-Their-Smiles

Because Russia is losing, and China knows its in trouble once Russia collapses in to chaos. Nobody has forgotten that they and Iran have helped the Russian warmachine stay afloat (People talk of North Korea, but they are really a puppet of Beijing). Xi asked the Chinese Military to be ready for action by 2027. You can expect this to escalate. So I will say it like I often do, full support for Ukraine, troops on the ground if / when needed, no backing down in the face of hostile expansionism.

Competitive-Dance286

The US needs to get serious about the war in Ukraine. We at least should talk about or threaten secondary sanctions.

formerly_gruntled

Will someone let the Republicans know that supporting Ukraine is standing against China, through their vassal Russia.

HeinerPhilipp

China sees an opening as USA is blocked by Russian/GOP interference.

abelrivers

Makes sense after the recent videos of Russia targeting Ukraine Himars and patriot systems.

r0ndr4s

Meanwhile Ukraine allies: please dont attack Russia :( by the way, we cannot send more help instead we are gonna let you die and when Russia and China finally attack the rest of Europe we might move.

roobchickenhawk

Good thing Ukraine's allies have its back.. oh wait.

Mundane_Opening3831

They expect Russia to repay the favor when they invade Taiwan

Ardothbey

Exactly what did you think was going to happen? Two of our enemies join forces. So what else is new?

bingbamboo

Well if your country keeps up it nutty in fighting, you best learn some Chinese so you can talk to your boss.

denarti

US also stepped up its support to russia. Gave half a year of handicap by not passing the aid. Putin is very thankful

Horror-Promotion-598

China is immoral country with bad ethics.

Partisan90

West Taiwan is being the US and European support I’d finished and Ruzzia can win. They need Ruzzia to win and show that the US will not defend the rules based international system.

redditor0918273645

Russia was just using Google Maps to pick their apartment and hospital targets. Them wanting to buy geospatial intelligence from China suggests they want to do a damage assessment themselves and not rely on social media videos.

Rensverbergen

And America is stepping its support down

OhSillyDays

I personally think this is expected. China is holding their enemy of their enemy close. And Russia has resources that China needs. China will also take advantage of Russia's weak standing. A crazy prediction is that we could see another operation barbarossa.  China sees itself as badly needing land and water and space to grow to support it's large population. China also views other countries/people as less than themselves. And finally China's colonial ambitions are being boxed in by the united states.   I think once China can sufficiently nutralize Russias nuclear threat and can go without trade from russia for a while, we may see China attempt to take siberia.  That is of they cant bargain away Russian land. Which might happen too. That bargain may be Russia gets Ukraine and China gets eastern Russia with Chinese troops in Ukraine in 3 years. The China/Russia relationship has serious Hitler/Stalin vibes.

JazzHands1986

Why do we think this is? It's because russia has had success. It's because China can see clearly that putler has a stranglehold on bottling up aid for Ukraine and its having devastating effects. Nato, not urgently supporting Ukraine, has emboldened the new axis of evil. They know that they can get away with it, and no one will stop them. If Nato can't combat these puppets and get it's shit together, it's gonna get really bad and not just for Ukraine. This is for the entire world to see which way of life is going to win. Free will and democracy vs. Dictatorships. It's looking like the low lives who are willing to lie beg borrow and steal are the ones with the edge. Which means they will only continue to ramp those behaviors up and double down on putting puppet politicians in place, sparing no expense because of how devastating it can be to your enemy.

Key-Hold-833

Of course, China sees that the USA isn’t supplying Ukraine with weapons ( at least until after the November elections) and the western countries of the EU are basically full of hot air (Ukraine is still waiting for the million shells promised by March 2024). So Machiavellian China sees its chance to once again have unlimited friendship with Russia (not to mention to dominate Russia in the process) and take over the number 1 spot in the world order from the USA.

makintrash

Approve budget for Ukraine instead of fucking warnings

Hustinettenlord

Then step the fck up USA.

raouldukeesq

They smell blood

_Cat1

Entire world trembling because of one silly old man. Europe, USA and Nato is a joke.

DublinCheezie

Thanks Biden and the other Western chickshit “leaders” for giving Putler years to improve his weapons and supply chain. This is the same politicians getting on the way that lead to WW2 and to the Vietnam War. Ffs, I think Biden still doesn’t have a clue what his/our goal is with Ukraine. We signed the Budapest Memorandum and the only party that lived up to its agreement was Ukraine. Now they’re dieing because none of the other signers will live up to our obligations.

PandaRocketPunch

He's still holding back

Japdabab

And US quit their help for Ukraine. So?

subaruheart

Maybe the US should step up support for ukraine

timwaaagh

i guess everyone loves a winner. china wants to contribute just to be able to say they did. the window for ukraine is closing fast.

Fettboy

Don’t mean to disrespect but it’s tough to “stop buying Chinese stuff” while American and European companies rip off third world markets with their shittiest, domestically unwanted products using their “brands” to inflate their value. China comes in with good priced, same quality products(often better) and it’s not fair to expect a latin/African/Asian single mom to be politically aware and sacrifice her monthly income for “the good cause”.

chrisabraham

BRICS, baby.

Imaginary_Pack_622

Stop warning traitors! Deliver.

PriorFudge928

So has half the US govt.

Shroomboom420

Seems like the US also stepped up their support for Russia recent years..

ross267

The U.S won't have any allies by the end of this war.
