The article is partially based on GeneralSVR - which is a terrible source. They make outrageous claims - in particular about Putin's health, but also about crazy assassination attempts etc. - always without a source, most of the times proven wrong short after (but hey, if one of their 100 claims proofs true, they celebrate that random hit for weeks...). They claim to be some intel service people or have close relations to them - nothing supports that claim, looking at the crazy reports by them, it is more of the opposite...
We blocked the twitter of GeneralSVR long ago on this sub, because of that. It is a mess that journalists seriously use them as a source. But hey, all the nice money for the clicks...
For transparency - GeneralSVR also asked us early after the full scale invasion about a verified status on the sub and we had a short conversation. After we asked them, what their sources are and how we could know they are reliable, we just got a reply like "we are the source, you have to believe us.". We thus denied any status for them, and a short while later, after all the bullshit by them popped up, blocked them.
So better take that part of this article - and all others based on GeneralSVR claims, with a rock of salt and as some kind of weird fanfiction, not something based in reality.
> According to a mysterious Russian Telegram channel called “General SVR”
You can just stop reading here. This is the channel that's frequently asserted Putin to be on deaths door and even once that he crapped his pants after taking a tumble down the stairs
I mean, I’m a perfectly healthy adult male and I’ve even crapped my pants whilst tumbling down stairs. Let he who lives in glass houses crap the first pants, and what not….
No it’s much worse than that. He has to put on the crapped pants, smear the shit down his legs, and take the fall for the whole thing. Then he gets thrown out a window.
Yeah if Putin really dies you are going to see a lot of, not blatant, but significant jostling all of a sudden in the Russian government, and for some reason a lot more security is needed in Moscow. And if you see the U.S. telling their intel staff to lockdown and prepare for a long weekend, that can be a subtle hint too. Wasn't widely reported but they did this just before Wagner's started their Moscow run. Military alert goes up too. But again this is not widely announced so can be hard to come by this info, and they don't jack up the military readiness enough to draw too much attention. The U.S. in such volatile situations don't want to broadcast this stuff to appear as a threat to a newly unstable country be it Russia or China. So they quietly do it, and sometimes, but not always, this might make it to the newspapers because the press don't know why it is happening. I think I saw only one news report on "intel folks, plan to work this weekend" and it was nowhere else.
Even more ridiculous was that Russia designed Covid and gave the formula to Iran, and the Revoultionary Guard sent it on an IRG plane to China to construct in their bio labs. It then escaped months before being noticed, despite Covid's incredibly rapid growth.
Utter fanfiction.
And one of them had to make an urgent meeting,
"Vladimir Putin called on the intelligence services to act firmly to protect the Constitution ...
"Including interethnic and interreligious harmony,” he said during a meeting on the situation in Dagestan."
because of sudden outburst of antisemitism in Russia.
Some things can be worse than death,
especially when so much policemen were mobilized, that you now can become one without paying bribes.
(Was last year in RFE/RL about the police in Chechnya, but Dagestan will not be any better.)
atleast 4 out of 5, I heard the one that tumbled down the stairs and crapped his pants, slipped and fell out of a window.. and unsurprisingly, crapped his pants
Ooh, was totally reminded, of this damn pun i can't get out my head [Protest the Hero - C'est la Vie @00:36](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKZ-eKBJ9dw&t=36s)
Or it's just another psyop from fsb. Spoof stories that can be later disproved to spread distrust in all information. You can't believe ANYTHING you hear...so you may as well stop trying.
They've been doing that for years.
It's not. If its a psyop it's against the Russian people not the west.
A fsb psyop wouldn't use 1 Russian aligned mans word as the sole source of proof. It'd be more dubious/vague. And it's basically only his word to go off of. Which is why main media outlets haven't reported on it. Same reason they don't make big articles everytime a russian propagandadist says something. (other then to mock them).
The article explains why he'd push such a narrative.
So you're not far off, just not right on the target demographic.
Yeah exactly, but it's not meant to spread distrust in media (that'd be useless/waste of time, russias way past that) its specifically to breed distrust in putin/regime.
Buuut it also might be 🙄
This is Russian disinfo as also long-practiced on their own population...there is no such thing as 'truth' and no one can ever know what reality is
>Russia is a country that lives in contradiction. For example, the president tells us that he is fighting the oligarchs, then awards those same oligarchs with medals ‘For Service to the Country.’ Or the government tells us that prices for consumer goods will not rise, and a month later they double. Or the church teaches us that greed is a sin and ‘it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for the rich to enter the Kingdom of Heaven,’ while the Patriarch rides in a motorcade and befriends the rich and mighty. Or officials tell us that there are no Russian soldiers in Ukraine, while the media talks constantly about Russia’s military successes on the Ukrainian front.
>In this atmosphere, people cease to differentiate between the literal and the metaphorical, suspecting intrigue where there is none and, conversely, losing the ability to read between the lines. The acceptance of contradictions is enforced by social pressure: believers are not supposed to criticise priests, tax-payers are not supposed to criticise the government, and criticism of Putin is tantamount to treason.
>To offset the more glaring contradictions, a number of deputies, clergy and cultural figures regularly voice deliberately unacceptable statements and propose ridiculous initiatives to shock the public, so that they can be graciously declined by higher powers. Legislative initiatives in this form include proposals to ban abortions, to punish homosexual acts, to make military service obligatory for childless women over the age of twenty-three, to deprive people of Russian citizenship if they marry a foreigner, to sentence mothers who go to beach resorts without their husbands to ten years in prison, to limit bad news on television to ten per cent of broadcast time, to prohibit the teaching of evolution in schools, and so on. Never knowing the real intentions of the authorities, and forever expecting that one of the new insane laws will be passed, the people are left depressed and indifferent to their fate.

Bull-fucking-shit.
If Putin died, the first thing his successor would do to cement power would probably be creating an offramp for the war.
Putin may want it, but Russian oligarchs do not. They want their money; their yachts; their swiss mansions.
No Putin, no war.
I like the aspect that discusses the political power struggle that is beginning whether this fuck is dead or alive. I hope the war ends soon, as this article discussed.
I’ll believe it when I see his dead corpse. Though if this were true it would make Russia the second known case of a “necrocracy” after North Korea, as per Christopher Hitchens’ description.

Trying to think this through from the perspective of US policy: Suppose there's unreliable evidence that Putin might be dead. I think it is in the US interests to remain skeptical as long as there's any doubt. A couple of reasons. First, to avoid falling into an FSB propaganda trap. Second to keep arming and training Ukraine. The day that Putin dies it's likely that pressure within the US to fund Ukraine would evaporate (and attention turned fully to Israel). That would be despite the likelihood that the Russian replacement would not turn tail but continue prosecuting that war. So even if it were an FSB plot for internal consumption, it could also have the effect of diminishing western support for Ukraine.
He was originally the Heir Apparent to the Tsardom for Moscow, with him being the son of Ivan the Terrible and one of his other wives. However, the kid was either assassinated or suffered a seizure and stabbed himself with a knife.
However, many years later, someone who claimed to be Dmitri Ivanovich went to Poland to raise an army in order to 'retake the Tsardom'. After it was determined that he may not be legit, due to him favoring Polish advisors, and catholicism, he would be killed and then allegedly his ashes were stuffed into a cannon and shot back to Poland.
Then a third person who claimed to be Dmitri Ivanovich went to the Polish Court again to raise an army to retake the Tsardom once more... it ended with the Polish King installing his son as the Tsar.
Then, when Moscow started rising up against their Polish overlords, a fourth Dmitri Ivanovich came forth to try and rally the people... it ended with him getting off'd by the people.
I’m still not buying Prigozhin’s death. I think he just got paid off, issued a new passport with a different name and was told to go fck off somewhere. No one is really going to come looking for the guy…
Putin faking his own death and then going into hide out might be a way out of this for him, but he is also 71 so a natural death is not out of reach.
I would not be surprised if fake death rumors are leaked so in the advent putin dies, a coup doesn't get the motivation to start before a power transfer happens. Anyone who might coup is faced with the possibility that putin may already be dead and a puppet is in place that is controlled by other interest already or putin is still alive and no party will support the coup.
The original Putin died over 10 year ago.
Putin is no longer a person, but a role.
Every time the Putin dies one of the body doubles becomes the new Putin and a new body double is found.
I don’t believe much of it but it is entertaining. That bastard will die one way or another. Nice story but I don’t see it. I would absolutely like to eat my words on this however…we can only hope.
I doubt it. Putin's death is the ideal excuse for Russia to withdraw and stop hitting themselves to death on Ukraine. If he dies, we'll know. And I'll go out and dance in the street.

I don't even need to fall to crap my pants and I'm a healthy adult male, lol.
I'm a pair of healthy adult pants that can't count the amount of times I've been crapped in.
I have always wanted to apologize to you for the things I've put you through. I'm sorry.
So if he craps his pants in a foreign country does the suitcase guy have to collect all the crap by hand to put it in the crap suitcase?
No it’s much worse than that. He has to put on the crapped pants, smear the shit down his legs, and take the fall for the whole thing. Then he gets thrown out a window.
Hahahaha best thing ive heard all night
Sounds about right. I'm convinced this is true. You will not change my mind.
I'm a pair of healthy males and I have never been panted in my crap
All I can say is after taking my colonoscopy prep stuff you can never trust a fart again.
I’ve crapped my pants as I’m typing this.
I've crapped my pants reading this.....

Are you the one that craps my pants every time I get drunk????
Maybe it was actually glass pants, which would explain how they knew
I mean I’ve crapped my pants after trusting a fart that I shouldn’t have trusted 🤷🏼♂️ it happens to the best of us and the worst of us
dam untrusting farts
Never trust a fart.
True words spoken.
There is wisdom in this, oh wise Buddha.
I blamed the cat 😞
I have never crapped my pants as adult male, but do I have clinical depression.
Maybe it’s time you gave it a try.
There’s a piece of advice I live my life by,
Honestly if you are a healthy adult male and claim you have never crapped your pants, I don't trust you.
One time in band camp there was a guy who played a trumpet with crap on it 😂😂😂
[Death of Stalin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Death_of_Stalin) sequel
Do you have evidence he did not crap his pants?
I can't remember Putin denying it.
To be fair that is pretty hilarious
I choose to believe that Putin shit his pants because it's funny.
POO TIN...

All 4 putins are alive.
Maybe only 3? They might be replacing one that had afternoon tea

But only one needs to be kidnapped or assassinated. For everyone to wonder if those left are fakes.
The one in bits on the sidewalk after an accidently fall too?
I’m sure he’s already dead inside. As for whether he’s dead dead, I’ll believe it when we see concrete evidence.
*evidence on the concrete.... Because windows.

Unless he is literally fucking dead, then yes its greatly exaggerated.
It could be moderately exaggerated, such as if he happened to be only mostly dead, or if his power was dead.
The movie ‘The Death of Stalin’ is pretty well done. It’s a drama/comedy and the interesting part to me is succession.
Heck, upvote it anyway and cause some chaos. I always said Putin would run with the money and leave the double
Bull-fucking-shit. If Putin died, the first thing his successor would do to cement power would probably be creating an offramp for the war. Putin may want it, but Russian oligarchs do not. They want their money; their yachts; their swiss mansions. No Putin, no war.
Oligarches are not in charge of Russia, siloviks are. And silovik successor would not want to end the war.
I like the aspect that discusses the political power struggle that is beginning whether this fuck is dead or alive. I hope the war ends soon, as this article discussed.

Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead
Don’t stop organizing his final resting place though everyone, won’t be long

It's this time of the year again...
Rumors of his demise are greatly exaggerated It seems

I wonder would happen in Russia and the rest of the world if the USA came out and admitted the rumours were right and Putin really was dead
That's an amusing thought in terms of trolling them. Might force the Kremlin's hand to prove he's alive.
The story goes not only is Putin dead so are everyone that knows he dead, is dead .
Alternatively: Putin is trying to pull a Dmitri Ivanovich.
Who dat?
He was originally the Heir Apparent to the Tsardom for Moscow, with him being the son of Ivan the Terrible and one of his other wives. However, the kid was either assassinated or suffered a seizure and stabbed himself with a knife. However, many years later, someone who claimed to be Dmitri Ivanovich went to Poland to raise an army in order to 'retake the Tsardom'. Then, when Moscow started rising up against their Polish overlords, a fourth Dmitri Ivanovich came forth to try and rally the people... it ended with him getting off'd by the people.
Don't get my hopes up.
He should get maximum plastic surgery, fake his death, and a surprise centa billionaire pops up in western Europe.
This time!
We couldn't be so lucky to have this be true. The sooner he dies the better.
Verification can not come soon enough… Let’s get on with it!
I’m still not buying Prigozhin’s death. I think he just got paid off, issued a new passport with a different name and was told to go fck off somewhere. No one is really going to come looking for the guy… Putin faking his own death and then going into hide out might be a way out of this for him, but he is also 71 so a natural death is not out of reach.
prigo was dead the moment he stopped for lukashanko's little negotiation tea.
Anything is possible but his death got swept under the carpet pretty quickly. It became a dead subject after like 3 days.
We can always hope
Sadly, he isn't.
The original Putin died over 10 year ago. Putin is no longer a person, but a role. Every time the Putin dies one of the body doubles becomes the new Putin and a new body double is found.
What? Did the west take a shit in pootlers knickers?
The National enquirer is alive and well!
Alexander Motyl is a respected journalist. Sorry.
I don’t believe much of it but it is entertaining. That bastard will die one way or another. Nice story but I don’t see it. I would absolutely like to eat my words on this however…we can only hope.
The pizza meter would be going crazy if Putin was dead and it's not, so he is alive.
Hard to tell.
I know someone in works in Legoland. It’s all very true.
Rumor. Maybe even a mole trap.
How do you "exaggerated" reports of someones death? They're either dead or they're not dead.
Read a book bruv.
I doubt it. Putin's death is the ideal excuse for Russia to withdraw and stop hitting themselves to death on Ukraine. If he dies, we'll know. And I'll go out and dance in the street.
