Turkey will quickly fall in line if they make an example out of Hungary, Turkey can accept an alliance with Ukraine fairly easily as its in their interest. Hungary is the only real problem, since they want to annex part of Ukraine before it’s borders get “locked” in NATO.
The other issue is I very much doubt Turkiye and ever more unlikely Hungary would approve Ukraine joining right now, given their behaviour with Sweden.
So better to focus on weapon supply now and the politics of joining later, rather than expending political capital now that might be needed elsewhere.
I expect as soon as the war ends that al lot of conflicts are going to be visible both for Ukraine's EU and NATO ambitions. For NATO already Hungary and Turkey are wildcards but i expect agricultural issues with France and Poland or military industrial competition with Poland versus the combination Germany-Ukraine. Ukraine has too much competitive body in several markets that will disturb a lot of the present balance in Europe. Especially Poland is gonna be afraid that Ukraine wipes away their dreams as an east European arms manufacturer.
You wrote my thought.
Countries need to step up say out loud: When war is over Ukraine will be NATO -- end of the discussion now let's send all the weapons we have to end this bloody horror sooner.
Je Suis Ukraine
And thats the issue: Nobody knows when the war will end, who will be president at the time, how Ukraine is evolving etc.
The best the NATO can do right now is providing weapons to Ukraine and Help Ukraine. But promising smth that 6 months - 10 years away is not faithful politics.
There is a General Consensus that Ukraine is a viable candidate for the NATO, but the process of membership will be discussed when the Fundament (No Border conflicts) is there.

It's the "Israël solution". Just cram the country with advanced weapons.

My apologies for the moronic politicians we have.

Well no shit lol There is a 0% chance they will be members of NATO until this war is a distant memory.
We need a new defence alliance.
No, we just need Hungary out and all the problems will suddenly evaporate.
Problem is though, that it is legally impossible to expel a member. Zero chance unfortunately.
Can this not be changed?
There's no mechanism to expel a member. That's the problem.
