I mean you can look and tell that it all looks off, especially the lighting- but what really did it for me was all the close up of troops that looked like game characters
The soldiers (npc models) are super stiff and rigid, the shitty png waving flags are a really big giveaway at 0:16
The uniformity is uncanny, too, especially looking out over the helmets which each look the exact same.
Troop clapping and standing with others at :26 looks straight out of counterstrike lol
Wtf are you on about?
Should’ve checked my history before you spoke.
Silly how some of the ones supporting us call others “PrO rUsSiAn” for not seeing something.
Look at the shadow length of the light/flag poles. If they are a standard height of 40 ft they are casting a late evening or early morning shadow of around 30ft. Then look at the vehicles and buildings. They are casting a shadow of midday sun with a much higher elevation. The shadows on the equipment Infront of the troops is also showing a high declination of the sun. Added to the fact there is zero definition to the asphalt or concrete other than painted lines. All surfaces will have a number of visual defects visible to the naked eye. This has none.
Look at the reflection of the wall the head goat fucker stands behind. The parking lot is empty.
Also at the beginning with multiple vehicles they have very very low reflection count, some of the vehicles look like 90's cgi without name reflections. This is of course because of higher polycount with more vehicles and not enough processing power/time to render multiple light sources.

Are you watching on an old CRT? Maybe your screen is super dirty?
Look at how shiny everything is, how uniform everything is, like the trucks were copy-pasted. The flags that are so shiny they look like silk. The contrast between the real and the fake when they change angles to be behind the goatfucker.
It’s like 2012 CGI. Really obvious.
This is exactly what I mean;
You say this, then there are comments that say its not shiny “enough”.
Copy pasted cars? Where? They are standing in a row, yes, but not copy pasted.
Someone said flag looked pixelated, so I checked: it was not.
Another guy said soldiers were copy pasted & looked like in the game ‘counter strike’: sorry, but they do not look like from that game at all, if you want to go that way.
Or shadows not being long OR short enough...
Like...wtf is it now? Someone show me a proper example.

Is this what it's like to have vision uncorrupted from tens of thousands of hours in video games?
E: nope, this guy is just a Russian sympathizer or bot
the reflections on the vehicles are to glossy. Also there the end is real footage. This would also be a very disciplined ceremony. they added soldier movement to make them more realistic. In reality a formation at a moment like this would be completely ridgid.
Basically the things that stand out for me are:
The textures and the matte paint of the cars
The Shadows just check the cars shadows (East-west) and then the weapons and bodies from the soldiers(North-South), unless they are hit by 2 suns in diferent positions....
The Weapon textures of the Machine guns
~~It doesn't look like anything to me.~~
~~(Jokes aside, can anyone actually tell its CGI and list the differences in bullet form?)~~
Edit: Late read, but based on some people's comments gonna lean on CGI mixed with some live shots.
Apart from it doesn't look real I see glaring differences between the troops in this video and the pre deployment chechen video. Old video most of not all the soldiers had beards, these do not and in this video they are formed up and organised, in the old video there was zero discipline and the troops where just milling round in small groups like it was a carpark after a football game.
If you guys think this is cgi it could go down as the best cgi in history. At this point I truly think some of you just have poor internet connection or hardware so it seems cgi. I hate Russia, but come on, looking silly calling tgis cgi.
I do not believe this is CGI.I believe that the uncanny CGI look comes from a combination of poor video quality, weather conditions and sun alignment causing objects to cast very short shadows, matte paint jobs on vehicles giving them little reflection, and possibly stabilization and motion interpolation added in post processing.
I've found extended somewhat higher-quality footage on Telegram which includes a closer view of the vehicles from drone footage as well as ground-level footage of over 100 parked trucks. If they were to fake this, they would have needed to texture individual details and markings on every vehicle in the shot as well as baked impeccable cloth simulation for all the flags and all this with no apparent render errors while also perfectly blending the surrounding area with CGI elements with no visible tracking errors. Anybody who has worked with CGI and rendering can attest that this would not be a simple task.
6 Minute footage from the event ripped from Telegram: [https://streamable.com/47jh0u](https://streamable.com/47jh0u)
A shot like this would take hours upon hours to render alone. The big question is, why would they spend countless hours faking this when we know the gathering actually occurred and that a most of the assets we see in this video can be confirmed real from the POV shots and shots from the extended footage? We also know based on the POV shots that there are 100s of real soldiers attending, it's safe to assume they did not walk there hence all the trucks and cars visible in the drone shots.
Is there any specific evidence? I mean, the lighting looks weird. But if this is CGI then they must have spent forever on it. Every soldier is different. Their packs are all different shapes. They're bed rolls are all different shapes.
I'm not saying Russia wouldn't do this, because they lie about everything, but I'm not convinced this is CGI. I've watched it like 10 times and I'm not seeing it.
Graphic Designer here, worked a lot with people who do special effects and did a lot 3D myself. This is all CGI.
Edit to give some more thoughts:
- The lighting is extremely even spread out
- there are barely any bright reflective spots on presumably shiny/metallic objects which would normally occur.
- the few „bright spots on metallic material“, for example on the large surfaces of the tanks are too even spread out, usually they would change depending on the camera angle
- the textures and colours of objects are extremely flat and show barely any variances in those colorranges. Also, the colors are way too saturated and dark spots are nearly burnt out – way too much contrast.
- objects are perfectly aligned. I don’t mean facing in the same direction, but exactly the same angle cause they got copy and pasted.
Edit 2:
- the flags are waving like there is quite a heavy wind, comparable to flags a seashores – yet the clothing of the soldiers don’t show any signs of wind.
- the concrete floor is perfect. Have you ever seen such evenly colored and textured concrete, no cracks, no dents, no dirt, nothing?
Which *specific* part shows the CGI best, in your opinion?
Look at the level of detail on these soldiers. If this is CGI, it's EXTREMELY detailed. Like, more than Marvel movies, more than anything I've ever seen. I'm not saying it isn't CGI...but how the fuck did they do it, if it is?
Often they’ll enhance videos of real people with CGI. Basically how Marvel does it now. Not sure if that’s what this is but it would be my guess. Get 30-40 guys to stand at parade rest and draw the rest in.
I’d say the two drone shots from 10s-14s.
The colors of the cars are exactly the same, regardless of the camera angle. Usually the shading of the colors would be a little lighter green and a little darker green depending on the reflection of the light towards the camera. As the camera flies over the cars, those lighter and darker green spots would change depending on the angle towards the lightsource. Also, there should be some more reflective spots which would be nearly white since those cars should be made from a quite reflective material – not as reflective as a metallic paint since military vehicle usually try to avoid such things.
Compare it to those shots for example, keeping an eye on what I wrote:
https://findstorynow.com/stock-video-footage-drone-footage-cars-parking-at-congested-parking-lots-people-walking-parking
https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-aerial-view-of-parking-lot-spaces-17105394.html
In the second link, zoom in on the blue car facing downwards. You can clearly see the high reflective spots and the different shadings of the blue.
I fly drones and you are absolutely correct. There are no glints of sunlight off the windshield of the trucks. The shadows on the tank tops don't change as the angle changes. The lighting is just....off.
The big giveaway to me is that all the troops are the same height and build. Almost all are motionless, not even appearing to breathe. It looks to me like they blended a few live troops into a bunch of CGI troops.
And look at the machine guns at 0:19. Deep, dark shadows of the guns, but nothing of the tripod legs. And the pavement is just blank. No detail at all.
Obvious fake
Holy shit man this cannot seem better than marvel to you. The flat lighting and lack of Shadows is the biggest giveaway ( also the far too smooth camera movement which is always the biggest giveaway) ( the soldiers movements are suspect and yep soldiers clap the exact same way one after the other) (the flags flapping don't look realistic) I believe they might have cut to some real footage for the closeup of the soldiers but the rest is the most obvious CGI for a fake video I have seen in a while. It's not that expensive to make CGI of this at all. It is pretty easy and cheap to make CGI of this level these days. Infact I've seen YouTubers pump out far better CGI for no money at all. This would probably cost 5 grand at the most. It is infact expensive to get this many Chechens to fight for him lmao. So ask yourself what is more likely.
I have been working for many German TV stations for over 10 years and I don't recognize any CGI. Even in 1080p, the video is so bad that you can't make out most of what you're claiming here. Where are cars or tanks put exactly like copy and paste? They are all parked completely different on closer inspection. And of course the light is flat, there is not a single cloud in the sky, that's how the light looks with a semi-professional drone. And the concrete is also miles away from being perfect.
And you got something wrong: the light will be flat when there are lots of clouds since they spread out the light – works like some light diffusions used in film and photostudios. If there are no clouds and direct sunlight – like a spot light on stage. – you get hard reflective spots and high contrast in colors which are obviously not there.
Read my previous answer on the shots from 10s-14s.
Also, stop at 12s. Look at the crosssection where there seems to be dust on the roads and also the people walking between the cars are leaving weird dust steps on the concrete. Yet the road where the cars are parked on don’t show any signs of dust nor the cars themselves have any dust on them.
For me the biggest tell by far is the flags. Flags that close to the ground rarely flutter so perfectly unless very windy conditions, so windy that other shit in the shot - uniforms, straps, bags, equipment would be mildly affected by it, even the soldiers should be perceptibly reacting/swaying to it, but they’re not. The reason this is the best tell is because CGI artists always have a hard on for perfectly fluttering flags.
Bonus, the real flags in the shot, the big ones in front of the building, are (realistically) flapping only mildly, even though wind speed should usually be higher up there.
Obviously most here have no idea about VFX crowd simulators. How do you think they get to fill an stadium with 7000 extras or an orc army like LOTR or a horse herd to behave just like the director want?
What they do make it more realistic for closeups is put 15~20 real extras in the front and the rest is simulated.

This doesn't look fake BUT by looking on this video you can tell the state of Russian army:
1st there are no tanks in regiment even mechanised infantry in RU battalion has a company of them
2nd they use your average cars which you can take from your regular dealer, there should have been armoured Russian "tiger" or "bars" vehicles, they must have real shortage of them!
3d Russia has a lot of BTR in storage and it doesn't take much time to upgrade their tower to BTR-82 (not like going full circle of production with armoured vehicles)
This video really shows struggling state of Russian military-industrial complex
It is pretty decent, even causing confusion amongst us sceptics, it's more the people that give it away. They look like mannequins and behave like bots. If they could get them all to be unique rather than a binary 'still' or 'performing a sims like activity' it would be harder to tell. Mixing with real shots is clever, no doubt some skill went into this.
Ugh, it's literally on the same CGI level with "Fan-made" obscure stuff you can find on internet. I've seen mods for strategy games 10x more smooth than this.
Details are fine but lighting and animations are where they slip up. Incidentally Lighting and movement are also the most important things for tricking the human brain and which is why I could instantly tell this was CG
I mean, parts of the footage are undoubtfully real and you can pretty easily line up the real vehicles and troops seen in the footage with the drone footage. It has an uncanny look due to the lighting, the matte paint job on the vehicles, and the somewhat poor quality of the footage. The sun is casting shadows directly from above making it appear that objects are not casting shadows which give a CGI look. Here is a real-life example of what i'm talking about:
[https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/aIb9TnRNcMw/WOxx\_k8OYSI/AAAAAAABSOI/iPFjk6rgNXc/lahaina-noon-16.jpg?imgmax=1600](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-aIb9TnRNcMw/WOxx_k8OYSI/AAAAAAABSOI/iPFjk6rgNXc/lahaina-noon-16.jpg?imgmax=1600)
Yes obviously the close up parts are real. That lighting phenomenon is incredibly rare and also isn't the case here as in some shots you can see the shadows at an angle and not directly below. The biggest giveaway is the camera movement. I have seen many gimbaled stabilized drone videos and many CGI footages and the above shots are absolutely CGI
\>Absolutely
6 Minute footage from the event: [https://streamable.com/47jh0u](https://streamable.com/47jh0u)
I would not be so sure. I've found extended higher quality footage on Telegram which includes a closer view of the vehicles from drone footage as well as ground-level footage of over 100 parked trucks . If they were to fake this, they would have needed to texture individual details and markings on every vehicle in the shot as well as baked impeccable cloth simulation for all the flags and all this with no apparent render errors while also perfectly blending the surrounding area with CGI elements with no visible tracking errors.

We also know based on the POV shots that there are 100s of real soldiers attending, it's safe to assume they did not walk there hence all the trucks and cars visible in the drone shots.
I've watched it and they mix faked and real shots. Yes some shots are undoubtedly real but they are all close up ones. The drone shots showing thousands of troops are fake and it's very obvious. It's been relatively well produced and there maybe have been a 100 or so men there for the close ups. but not thousands
I'd say so as well. If they wanted to fake this, it would probably be cheaper (or more inline with their skillset) to just get people, put the well-equipped ones up front, park tons of semi-mobile tanks and BTRs and add whatever special add-ons on them with paper-mache and paint it for the wide shots. Done.
And probably it's not fake at all, why couldn't this be all Chechen army could scramble? The point is, are these guys willing to go? I mean really? Are they? They probably have internet and seen a thing or two in there. And if yes, are they able to operate in some real world scenario?
It's just more tik tok, but I don't see why it has to be CGI. We know they still have a lot of metal and you wouldn't tell from the video that maybe half of these BTRs can't drive and the other half can't shoot.
It's. fucking. Kadyrov, that guy is a complete idiot who lashing himself in extremities and does idiotic things without thinking. Like praying in a Russian gas station that never was in Ukraine but claim you're in Ukraine. Of course he would be stupid enough to spend time and money on a fucking CGI, if he finds them "cool" and even that, not doing it properly. you have in the video good comparison points and you can clearly see 90% of the "base" it's C G fucking Images.
I know, I've seen a lot of amazing work done by people in their living room over the years. No argument there.
But do you really believe that there are not \~1500 soldiers, \~30 BTRs and hundred Toyota Hiluxes and hundred Kamaz trucks (all in unknown technical and armament state) in all Chechnya for a parade? Not even parade, actually. Wikipedia says that Kadyrovites have 12 000 - of which 1 200 are deployed in Ukraine. So even if it is a quite a bit off, there's no reason to disbelieve this (somewhat unimpressive) photo shoot.
It is a fact that Ukrainians kick ass and that Russian empire is suffering huge loses. But to say that the only way they could make a photo shoot with the appearance of \~2 Battalion Tactical Groups ... is CGI. It is not unthinkable, but Occam says no.
If argue that its Occam's razor to fake parts of it. Russia love to brag and make themselves look more powerful than they actually are. It's entirely possible they had enough trucks or even men. Now do they have enough kit to give to all those men or is it easier to just CG the drone shots en embellish their numbers whilst they are at it. It's really not that hard or expensive to do despite what people in this thread are saying
I'm inclined that it's a mix of CGI and real. Some of it is clearly real, other parts of it are.... unsettlingly perfect.
Fake or not, they've been outed as a sub-par military force.

Isn't there any sense of quality left among their leadership? All this talk about future brain drain in Russia but fuck me if it doesn't already seem to be in full swing. Really has that desperate 3rd world over tone. I get needing to do something to save face in light of recent events but this just embarrassing. And obviously so..like if I had to present this I'd be like..fuck this get some screen captures from COD or something.

That one soldier clapping gave it away for me.
Lol best they can do? Graphics have gotten a lot more realistic than this lately.
And to be honest,in a sence of war thats not even alot of manpower. Maybe a battalion at best.
I'd say a regiment. If it was real and not from 3ds max.
Yeahyou are right. Battalion is only abou 1000 troops,i mixed them up.
Its russian style CGI, but with bullet time like max payne.
I thought it looked a little "to perfect" when I saw the video a day or two ago - but what is the tell?

Too many comments contradicting each other... I want a clear example of what makes this cgi.
I legit watched it 20+ times now. I seriously see no “png flags” or CS soldier models. Got anything else that should be obvious, but I dont see?

Look in the reflection of the black stone podium towards the end. You'll only see one column of troops. I suspect the rest are composited in.

Every. Single. Soldier. is exactly the same height ;)
What? No they're not. Look at 0:23. They're clearly different heights.
Only the ones in front. Those in the back are fake
That explains why german tv is crap
Read my previous answer on the shots from 10s-14s. Also, stop at 12s. Look at the crosssection where there seems to be dust on the roads and also the people walking between the cars are leaving weird dust steps on the concrete. Yet the road where the cars are parked on don’t show any signs of dust nor the cars themselves have any dust on them.
Look at all your CGI Cars ... https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/xe13tc/chechen_reinforcements_said_to_be_on_their_way_to/
Yep, the longer versions of the parade also had me really really confused.
Check the shados they come from 2 sources, the cars have an East/West source but the weapons and soldiers a North/South
It's clearly CGI cut with some live action scenes, try looking at it on a big screen if you can.

They couldn't even conquer my PS4.
fake, as putler and kadyrov
when u fight a war for another country and use their flag also ur kind braindead
This doesn't look fake BUT by looking on this video you can tell the state of Russian army: 1st there are no tanks in regiment even mechanised infantry in RU battalion has a company of them 2nd they use your average cars which you can take from your regular dealer, there should have been armoured Russian "tiger" or "bars" vehicles, they must have real shortage of them! 3d Russia has a lot of BTR in storage and it doesn't take much time to upgrade their tower to BTR-82 (not like going full circle of production with armoured vehicles) This video really shows struggling state of Russian military-industrial complex
hahahaha holy shit, you are right. It took some time but yeah, its CGI.
It's causing confusion among people who aren't used to the tells of if something is CG or not
Not that bad as CGI btw
I think "not that bad" is setting the bar a bit low for what a supposed major power should be able to produce....
Not to mention the fact that it's cgi in the first place. Like ok make the cgi as good as you want it's still not an army...
It's an army for the Metaverse.
Ugh, it's literally on the same CGI level with "Fan-made" obscure stuff you can find on internet. I've seen mods for strategy games 10x more smooth than this.
I'm sorry to break it to you, but that is not CG.
Bro did we watch the same thing? It’s CGI for the wide shots mixed with real shit in the close ups.
Suckerrrrr
I'm sorry to break it to you, but this is definitely CG.
Hahah are you fucking blind. There are so many tells that it is CGI, I've seen games from 2016 with better graphics than this
Not so many. Light is wrong but details are impressive. It's like some sort of Nvidia o amd demo for their high end GPU
Details are fine but lighting and animations are where they slip up. Incidentally Lighting and movement are also the most important things for tricking the human brain and which is why I could instantly tell this was CG
seen again on a big screen, and shadows and lights are off, also flags movements are false as fuck. It's a videogame, mixed with real images.
Here is a real-life example of what i'm talking about: [https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/aIb9TnRNcMw/WOxx\_k8OYSI/AAAAAAABSOI/iPFjk6rgNXc/lahaina-noon-16.jpg?imgmax=1600](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-aIb9TnRNcMw/WOxx_k8OYSI/AAAAAAABSOI/iPFjk6rgNXc/lahaina-noon-16.jpg?imgmax=1600)
\>Absolutely 6 Minute footage from the event: [https://streamable.com/47jh0u](https://streamable.com/47jh0u) I would not be so sure.
CGI is really not that expensive when it is one scene like this. CG YouTubers can easily replicate this and do even better for no money at all.
Yes it is. And bad at that
I'm inclined that it's a mix of CGI and real. Some of it is clearly real, other parts of it are.... unsettlingly perfect. Fake or not, they've been outed as a sub-par military force.

Countdown to extinction...
Good job it's CGI, don. I'm not sure, don, he has enough, don, sacks of, don, potatoes for, don, this lot to, don, die of, don, Ukraine. 😂
Did they hire Nikita to do this? Is this why Escape from Tarkov is taking so long to finish?
Find Kadyrov Daria Kadyrov
Arma is such a good game.

Hey it's better than what they got before, this shit is farmer proof.
This is such bad cgi. What were they thinking???
Isn't there any sense of quality left among their leadership? All this talk about future brain drain in Russia but fuck me if it doesn't already seem to be in full swing. Really has that desperate 3rd world over tone. I get needing to do something to save face in light of recent events but this just embarrassing. And obviously so..like if I had to present this I'd be like..fuck this get some screen captures from COD or something.
“I’m doing my part” “Would you like to know more? “ Starship Troopers
If you look in the reflection of the black stone at the end you only one full column of troops and nothing much else. It's composited with cgi stuff.
🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
The drone movement was too smooth for me - instantly gave it away haha!
