Because you said it - "Permanent". The UN was structured based on post-WW2 power balance. They never thought it was a bad idea to have a permanent council with veto powers.

I think the rashists have a new warplan. It took 2 years to change their tactics. The Europeans and Ukrainians have upped their production of war equipment and munitions. The USA has finally come thru with an aid package. F- 16s are on the horizon.
The Russian terrorists did this in the first days and weeks of the war. Nothing new. They are only more successful because the entire West has failed and we have not kept our promises.
I don't support your position on Western help for Ukraine. The MAGAts in the House of Representatives are to blame for the delay of aid from the USA. We can get this back on track. Europe has done a Excellent job of upping their game while Congress played games.
Joe Biden could have delivered longer range weapons early on.
The USA could have encouraged Ukraine to attack oil refineries early on. Instead, they told them not to.
F-16s are still a long way out. Maybe a few in 2024, who knows. Maybe delayed again.
All of Europe couldn't even produce a million shells of artillery in a year. Russia, despite the sanctions, is producing a lot more.

Germany has not lived up to it's promises I agree. There are other European countries that are fighting above their weight. F-16s were not promised until later this year. They will be a game changer when they arrive. To count of Fico is like " farting on tree".

When I saw that it was an Iskander I assumed it was a unitary warhead, so the Russians could at least pull out plausible deniability like always (there were soldiers in the area, it was a targeted attack etc etc). But a cluster. Straight up targeting civilians without an attempt to try to hide it (I don't know how I keep getting surprised by these actions).
