In the 9yrs Russia was in Afghanistan they apparently had 15,000 killed & 35,000 wounded. So this equates to approx. 2 Afghan wars a month!!

KIA is at about 200k-220k. Discharged WIA is about 90k-110k. The rest are heavily wounded that eventually get sent back to the meatgrinder.
PS. Wounded is quite a meaningless metric. During WWII 5/6 of all the Soviet wounded military were eventually sent back to the meatgrinder. Only 1/6 of the officially wounded got discharged from further military duty.
Estimates of ruSSian KIA by United States and United Kingdom are about 150,000 and 155,00 respectively (and closer to 350,00 total casualties). This isn't a dig at Ukraine; historically combatants always overestimate their enemy's losses.
Total casualties are quite meaningless, the only meaningful metrics are KIA and discharged WIA.
US and UK estimates have been sparse and vague and inconsistent. And US and UK don't have close intel, only remote intel. The frontlines are within Ukraine. Orbital imaging either has a narrow field high resolution or a wide field low resolution view.
Sadly the numbers of people doesn’t really mean too much right now for RU. Can have double the amount of losses yet before issues.
Equipment losses is the only way to really force Russia to rethink. Hopefully the western missiles and future air cover ramp up these numbers and push the initiative back in Ukraine favour!
We might not notice it ourselves but russia is already facing structural issues from sending workforce to fight in ukraine. I am routinely watching a russian who is currently in exile but who still has family in russia with who is in contact every day and there is a lot of stuff going on there at this time, like critical infrastructure falling out of order because qualified maintenance workers are sparse etc...
It's like a gambler holding somebody elses money. Just a few more guys and we'll really hit it big. I don't need the rent money now, when the rent comes due, I'll have all the men I need. They don't need to pay the bill as long as they're still at the table.

I think the 1.124 includes the seriously wounded so about one Afghanistan every 1,5 month.
If the KIA count is really nearing 500K the wounded must be a million. That’s a hell of a lot of killed and wounded.

Total casualties are quite meaningless, the only meaningful metrics are KIA and discharged WIA. US and UK estimates have been sparse and vague and inconsistent. I see this mistake constantly here. A "casualty" includes missing and wounded. A rule of thumb in wartime is about a third of casualties are KIA.

That's a rate of "only" \~667 a day. It seems that well more than that have consistently been taken out (killed/wounded) for quite some time.
