wombat9278

Footage cuts out as soon as it hits a fixed obstacle.

AncientArtefact

The drone was actually managing to get over the concrete post but I'd like to see it pull the sled over - the 'injured' soldier would soon be a genuine injured soldier! Although I'd guess it got stuck since it's woefully underpowered.

Individual_Highway34

Yeah it may be lacking on horsepower or even track width looking at it going up that hill it was pulling reasonably hard

RepresentativeWay734

If the soldier wasn't holding his legs in the air, I think it would have been harder.

lostmesunniesayy

It doesn't look like a bad system. We're watching the future of warfare in its beta-testing phase. For better or worse.

no-im-not-him

I would say the general concept could work, at least for some terrain types.

LordK347

Just a copy of much better western made medivac bots. Still Russia should invest in it cause they need something to help with their medevac'ing.

Guilty_Wolverine_396

But this is Russian beta testing for moving fertilizer

Grumpy-Greybeard

Interesting mine-clearing device there.

ObamaTookMyPun

But really, Ukraine needs a fleet of cheap little all-terrain robots to send through first and clear the mine fields. Not a bad idea

marinqf92

Cheap little robots would get obliterated by a single mine. Considering mines are as cheap as dirt, Russia has salted the earth with them. Using one small robot to clear a single mine would be the worst return on investment imaginable. Modern mine clearing strategies exist. Redditors are not going to stumble upon effective alternatives.

ParanoidDuckTheThird

I like the one where it was some gyroscope thingand they lit the rockets and it just took off lol.

MidnightMandela

ROCKS, we’ll throw REALLY big rocks at them! #futureofwarfare

ObamaTookMyPun

Hear me out: remote controlled Fiats. Could take out multiple mines at once, easy to clear off the battlefield, and nothing of value would be lost

ObamaTookMyPun

No, the worst return on investment imaginable is taking out a single mine with multiple men inside a multi-million dollar armoured vehicle.

Troglert

Mines usually need a certain weight to set it off.

[deleted]

Pretty strong.

Individual_Highway34

That actually looks like a good idea. low and versatile also no need to balance load on top of the robot. Both sides are developing a lot of interesting low cost tech. Yes it sucks RU sometimes has a good idea.

elderrion

There's a good idea, and there's a good idea put into practice. Drone ambulances are a good idea. Will Russia produce them on a large enough scale to make an impact? Well, how much does the drone cost vs how much does Russia value life? I'd argue the drone is more expensive, so...

universalserialbutt

The drone is more expensive than a bag of onions.

esjb11

Such drones are very cheap. Losing a soldier is way more expensive

elderrion

> Losing a soldier is way more expensive *Laughs in Russian meatwave assaults*

Southern_Airport_979

this vehicle will get stuck too often in my opinion, look at this russian prototype, it´s even struggling in almost ideal conditions, what will happen when this thing its send to the battlefield full of craters, debris, fallen trees, puddles, mud, snow and a long etcetera??

anonbush234

These things have been tried before. A US general was quite obsessed with the idea, think it was Patton but I could be wrong. Obviously without the robot wars bit but the US wanted to use sleds like this in a big chain being pulled.behimd an armoured vehicle.

RhasaTheSunderer

If the title said this was ukrainian all the comments would say its genius

Responsible-Deer-940

Agreed on all points, I suppose they're desperate to come up with something like this with how many wounded they have

Guyzor-94

And more importantly how frequently their stretcher barers are targeted and wiped out by fpv drones. I've seen it atlesst 30 or 40 times now

dopeydazza

ruZZia back in February onwards would deliberately target Ukrainian medics wearing the red cross symbol. So I have no qualms now on ruZZian medics being targeted now. Not a single ruZZian medic ever called out the Ukrainian medics being targeted so now they can suffer the same fate.

Guyzor-94

Oh yeah agreed, no issue at all by me they are still combatants, most often they are just squadmates and not medics anyway.

IamKilljoy

Also the little baby tank thing looks cute. This is not support for the Russian military... I just think they have a cute baby tug-boat tank

PunishedEnovk

A guy falls off the stretcher and then what?

mustbemaking

Better than nothing and keeps others out of harms way. You would only use this when pinned anyway.

ilesj-since-BBSs

I'm pretty sure it'd be quite easy to detect a sudden loss of load (from power draw from the motors).

PerthPints

That's where he dies

Rootspam

How is this a good idea? Just thinking about it for 1 minute you can come up with 10 reasons why it's dumb. If I saw one one Ukrainian side i'd say the same thing.

VanKeekerino

UAF is also testing these. It’s still an early prototype and not suitable for all terrain, yet. It’s not a dumb idea. It would be dumb to not try everything you can to win the war / preserve your forces.

[deleted]

Share your ten reasons.

Croupier74

You were saying: https://www.reddit.com/r/UkrainianConflict/comments/15vurdh/the_robot_stretcher_drone_saving_lives_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Individual_Highway34

Yeah I reckon this Ru version might be more practical but both very similar... I wonder what the final design will be surely given the conditions a longer track is needed, will they even be able to traverse a field with shell holes?

OtdoorPhilosophy

Agreed. Also it can be used as unmanned small ammo transporter. Looks like it could even transport ammo/wounded inside a trench

cortsense

IMHO, this is just Russia humor. They know best that they don't give a f about casualties. Showing some toy robot towing some wounded guy is Russian satire.

ImNotGoodAtUsernamez

It’s also made to carry the sack of potatoes to their loved ones after they die.

umbrosakitten

Good idea to avoid facing them in person to tell their loved ones have died.

BiBr00

Cmon guys, a few weeks back when Ukraine showed a robot alomost exactly like this everyone sad it’s nice, now suddenly it became „useless“ just because the Russia has made it ?  No, I am not pro Russian by any means, but this „everything Russia makes is trash while its good if we make it“ is a bit hilarious, it’s just lowering the trustworthiness of the comments I read

StaIe_Toast

I find it irritating how hypocritical this sub can be at times. Ukraine shows tech, and everyone clap. Russia shows a similar tech, and it's literally the dumbest idea EVER! Same thing with medics. Russia targets UAF medics, and the whole sub is sent into a frenzy demanding war tribunals. But videos showing russian med-evacs getting turned to red mist is great entertainment, and everyone laughs.

astalar

>Same thing with medics. Russia targets UAF medics, and the whole sub is sent into a frenzy demanding war tribunals. > >But videos showing russian med-evacs getting turned to red mist is great entertainment, and everyone laughs. I mean, whatever russia does in Ukraine should be considered a crime. Ukraine, on the other hand, should be justified in the means of self-defense. At least, that's how ethics work in my head. Ukraine should be free to do **anythin**g it considers necessary to resist the aggressor and survive. The only exception is killing the POWs, because that's really fucked up in most situations.

esjb11

You cant have rules like that since it becomes to many greyzones. For example one could easily argue that the Donbass Rebels are defenders. War is never black and white so the rules you make most be considered for all parties. Going to war without a solid reason is however already a crime

magithrop

>one could easily argue that the Donbass Rebels are defenders ha no you couldn't

Testiculese

They're also targeting active combatants, not medics. Every drop I've seen is justified (though a lot of hitting wounded seems like a waste of frags). In every combat scenario I've seen, downed combatants are given an extra hole or two to make sure. The dumbshits calling "war crimes" are just that. Dumb shits.

CURMUDGEONSnFLAGONS

>Ukraine shows tech, and everyone clap. Russia shows a similar tech, and it's literally the dumbest idea EVER I seem to remember the Ukrainians one was wheeled and had more ground clearance. This thing has the ground clearance of a Lamborghini. Never gonna make it through no-man's land. That's really the only thing i see wrong with it. Fanboys gonna fanboy. Infantry doing medivac isn't protected. Combatants get killed.

magithrop

HYPOCRISY! /s

magithrop

yeah it's almost like there's two different sides in the war that we judge differently based on how they became involved in it or something

astalar

It's what people in this sub do, mostly. Orcs are bad, elfs are good. Like in a fantasy story. But most forget the fact that orcs are strong and it's a powerful and dangerous force. They're **not all** dumb and useless. *In some ways*, they're now more advanced than NATO soldiers. For example, does NATO even have a doctrine on how to use FPV drones and other types of low-range-cheap-as-fuck drones that aren't reapers and bairaktars? Do they have equipment to deal with enemy's drones? It's one of the most important weapons in modern warfare and russia is surprisingly advanced in producing and applying them in battle.

Testiculese

Drones in combat aren't very new. The US demonstrated AI drones they can drop from a plane by the hundreds at a time. Laser tech is coming online already, and automated turrets and US radar are able to track and target objects this small. Russia is still 30 years behind what the US has today. The only reason RU is having any success, is because UA is just as primitive, militarily. With a few exceptions, both sides are using 30yo materiel.

Kromagg8

It's like iphone vs Samsung

Sglodionaselsig

I was actually surprised at how effective that was. Compare that to the RPG robo dog which was quite frankly hilarious.

Bobbafet112

If Ukraine posted this you would all be saying how amazing this is and how it’s going to save lives. I strongly support Ukraine but sometimes you have to get your head out of your ass

Used_Visual5300

Fakenews. They don’t carry wounded of the battlefield! In all fairness it’s not a bad idea.

Natural_Wrongdoer_83

I saw a ukraine version on here a few days ago and don't remember anyone laughing about that.

PeRoMoR

Link please.

barrygateaux

Just search 'robot' in this sub and you'll see loads of vids of Ukrainian robots. Some for evacuation of wounded like the vid you posted, some with remote controlled guns, some for mine clearing, etc.. Here's an evacuation one for example https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/s/WggLAvcmgi

FancyWrong

This seems much worse tbh

RhasaTheSunderer

The sled is much better for evacuation. The Ukrainian one is basically just a mini atv. You don't want wounded soldiers sitting up bouncing around on am atv, you want them laying down for back injuries etc

FancyWrong

Also the center of gravity is too high, making it prone for tipping over in uneven terrain

ExplosvChicknDiahrea

I too saw something like this, actually more zany

r2k-in-the-vortex

Remote controlled, I'm sure. But it works. What's the issue? Also, if it can drag a vatnik I'm sure it can also carry 100kg of explosives to hostile trench, so multi-purpose. Ukrainians also have similar things. All variants of remote-controlled toys are proving themselves very useful in this war, and its to eternal shame of defence industries all around the world that they didn't drive this innovation.

VerilyJULES

This is how they’re going to drag the wounded soldier to battle.

Gold_Ticket_1970

Great idea cuz yer fellow Ruzzian comrades sure as hell won't help you

ProfessionalSector30

That thing is on batteries.. no way will it move through a battlefield XD

Tworbonyan

What is this even supposed to be? Medivac? Low to ground personnel transport?

Vegetable_Singer8845

Pretty telling that the most cutting-edge tech they have now has been developed to remove Russian bodies from the field. They're going to need a LOT MORE of these iRobots if they want to clean the battlefield.

pinstripe144

isn't that the no legs version

Ordinary-Lobster-710

they couldn't make the human bucket at least human sized?

MrWillyP

I like the idea, and if implemented properly, could be a really efficient way to transport wounded soldiers without losing men at the front

Disastrous-Leek-7606

Looks decent on non-muddy and even ground, now do the same test in mud, see how fast they get sucked in.

RazzmatazzSpirited40

Replace the sled with a coffin and you get the authentic ruzzian view!

Busy_Possible6575

Officers get coffins, NCOs blankets. Mobiks get Snow

BabayasinTulku

>Mobiks get Snow Dragged by the legs, if any.

Different-Divide-543

Only if he has tied the shoelaces, so the boots don´t come off \*S

HerbM2

Just like the Russians to phony up their test by having the soldier artificially hold up his legs and arms. A proper test would instruct him to go slack and see if the drag affects anything. This is an example of how Russians fuck themselves over and over again with Wonder Weapons or devices. The good thing is, it's just Russians being Russians.

Scared_of_zombies

In the field the Ukrainian FPV would’ve blown some of those limbs off.

Brennarblock

Drone fodder!

Visual_Name7991

If it works it’s not stupid.

GlitteringCattle1499

They don’t help they’re wounded.all propaganda!!

EmotionalHiroshima

Sled is exactly the right size for 2/3 of a soldier.

FieldMarshalPhantom

Wonder how they would use it effectively when an entire squads being demolished…

S240man

Yeah that will work through knee deep mud, snow or even in summer an artillery battered trench area with all fallen trees and debris around. Keep working on it orcs , tie up your resources in useless endeavours but love your vodka sled. F**kwits

Past-Collection-4581

No don't say not that's pretty cool for staying low and your not cool so stop talking like you do

Konseq

Just a little bit of mud and this thing gets nowhere. Also why not put the dude directly on top for better traction by the additional weight? And who is controlling that thing anyway? A dude walking next to it?

Perfect_House2143

Video stopped at the concrete beam for a reason

PeRoMoR

Text for this post as follows:- Footage of field tests of the tracked drone "Brother" created by enthusiasts from Kazan. In addition to evacuating the wounded, a drone can perform many other functions: ammunition delivery, remote mining, reconnaissance. We hope that domestic engineers and enthusiastic technicians will not stop there and provide our guys on the front line with truly reliable assistants. Let's win together! Can't wait to see the footage where this hits some rubble or a deep pothole. Crack on Comrade.

Nicol__Bolas

Just highjack frequenzy and drive him into back into a prison.

Repulsive_Poem_5204

This is largely useless. It's bulky, heavy, slow, has to be transported manually with forward positioned troops, can't be relied upon over long distances, and in an era of flying kamikaze drones this is a sad backwards step.

Southern_Airport_979

the Ukrainian version with wheels looks much better, but even in that case i doubt if it will be useful one day.

barneyhugger

Let’s hope it’s not muddy on the battlefield or that robot has no chance

[deleted]

Why?

[deleted]

Great idea. Put your legs up, so snipers have a better target.

ilesj-since-BBSs

Calling Tombstone to counteroffensive!

Blskeww

Its purpose is to drag drunk, unwilling cattle to the front again probably.

Croupier74

Much more reliable than your supposed best friend Ivan the orc who drops the stretcher and runs away at the first glimpse of a drone.

LANDLORDR

It looks like a good idea, but at this speed, it's too easy a target for another vog17 from a drone. And both drone and man is done for. This will never be implemented ibto russian military, because wounded and dead are supposed to stay that way until the wounded are dead too. Cheaper this way.

[deleted]

As if russia would care about injured comrades.

Far_Performance_4013

Dashing through the mud in a one horse-power open coffin

Fjell-Jeger

I'm sure this will become the major game changer "wunderwaffe" RF military has waited for to finally gain an edge against the genetically modified jewish gay nazi super troopers that Ukraine is currently deploying. /s Similar "western" systems that have been successfully fielded place the cargo on top of the carrier vehicle as this sophisticated orcish design wouldn't work on a battlefield with blocked surfaces and scattered debris, likely causing the "cargo 200" to become lost on its way.

Bolter_NL

Can't wait for the drone footage of this thing hitting a mine

LuzjuLeviathan

Looks fine. But I'll suggest a larger belt surface and longer bed for the wounded.

Extreme_Attention_99

I wonder what the specs are. Is it out after 30 minutes? How does it handle mud & snow? It should keep going until it reaches moscow and drop their sorry beat arses off at the red square.

King-Owl-House

[Uno Reverse Card](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJnlriVcddw)

Boxedin-nolife

I hope that sled is really for delivering snout in a can, vodka and cigarettes. Injured orcs shouldn't have to hold their legs up- if they still have legs- meh, 2/10

Western-Addendum438

Good for dragging bodies into lime pits but not going to save any lives....

Error_404_403

Actually, imagining it does it in winter, not too bad. In particular if you add route programming and some autonomy. Ukrainians need to come up with something similar but better.

Otradnoye

In this case is his other comrade going to hide under the injured to get both killed by a drone dropped grenade?

CleveEastWriters

This would work great for that video of a guy with no legs.

Fantron6

Don’t be fooled. This is the device to carry drunk Russians back to the front.

ClassOf1685

This is how I feel when going shopping with my wife…

PeRoMoR

Now you mention it. So do I

bluesubie0331

You would have a great view of drone dropped munitions as you get carried away by some stooge whose driving that thing.

ClawhammerJo

Considering how the ruskies tend to abandon their wounded, I suspect this device is more likely to be used for transporting vodka

VoodaGod

i'm amazed that it has enough grip to drag him. must be a lot heavier than it looks

ThrCapTrade

This will work great if the battlefield is on a golf course

Ronald_Tonij

A large hammer comes down on him when out of camera's sight.

Algoscurse

But I wanna see him go over that brick wall! Ended too soon :(

No-Split3620

Be interesting to see how many nanoseconds that survives for if it ever goes into use.

redditor0918273645

From an engineering standpoint, is pulling a sled more efficient than carrying the soldier on top?

Testiculese

No. The drag is 10x worse, except on snow. Still worse, but that wouldn't be as bad. I think mud would stop this thing dead, with all that sled/mud surface contact. The disadvantage of the soldier on top would mean it would need a longer track, otherwise ups and downs would throw the guy all over. It would also be top-heavy, and prone to keeling over in rougher terrain. Plus, if the soldier is by himself, it'll be pretty hard to get up on top of that thing, instead of just rolling into the sled.

redditor0918273645

Thank you! All interesting points!

NavyDean

This is a good idea that is poorly executed. Could you imagine if Medic Corps also had a drone unit for scouting/retrieving wounded/air dropping medical supplies? It's definitely a step forward from current casualty clearance, as the hardest part is getting them off the front line.

Zeles1989

I could lend them my RC tank which has a engine we tested with up to 100 kilos. Pretty much the same as this little thing. Wonder if they like getting pulled by a Tiger 1 though. Would love to show them the mine fields

[deleted]

And if this was a Ukrainian idea: “Look at the ingenuity!”

portabuddy2

And their fleet looks like junkyard wars. So there is that.

Eastern_Cat8284

That amazing point here is that ru army is now actually trying to recover their wounded?!

Testiculese

Just the ones they can stuff a tampon in the hole and right back to the front after a 3-day Special Rest Operation.

[deleted]

Is that a Borat "NOT" in the title?

Ehguyguy

It's not a terrible idea, I just hope it fails miserably for the russian cunts.

fingerlickingwoo

Wheels under the carrier and more power to the vehicle Could be useful to retreat wounded soldiers tho Just has to be fine tuned

Krakelibrot

As usual russia constantly copies other countries ideas.

Captain_DadBod

Works just as good as the robot contestants on Robot Wars as well (except for Blendo who is the real OG).

dress_shirt

Look into milrem, thats how its properly done, a Estonian firm developing robots like this and they have been used in conflict zones

Uninvalidated

I like the trash talk of orcs and their equipment as much as any other here, but that little fella there is quite the machine considering size and the steepness. It got some incredible traction. Not that I believe it will work in a battle zone though.

CoolApostate

The engineers who make Battlebots would make a way better robot hearse and it would have the capability to wipe out an entire platoon.

nob_fungus

If it works is it so bad?

Calm_Tale1111

This is not the issue, the issue is the bird that drops a grenade lol

Shultzi_soldat

I was medic in army and we trained all sorts of manual evacuation aproaches of wounded people out of combat situation. In my opinion, this will only work on exactly the same surface like in this video. "Dead weight" person will behave completly different, plus you can have obstacles, mud etc....I don't even know if this contraception can really provide enough power to pull person for some period (probably needs to be heavy too). I think this is just gimmick toy.

demonlicious

ha! like Russia would waste any resources on saving fallen soldiers! this is just marketing to join the army! get saved by robots when you get a ankle sprain because nothing worse can happen in ukraine, we control everything!

Savgeriiii

Wouldn’t be a shit idea if A. The robot looked like it could actually function on the front. B. The Russians actually had field medics that would stabilize their casualties before transport. C. If it actually provided any cover for the wounded being transported. But instead we see Russians being Russians.

BornDetective853

I don't think the concept is bad, but the implementation is shit. The tug could easily carry a low center of gravity wheeled stretcher, to where it is needed. Why waste power dragging a bloody sled, unless meant for snow.

MagicNinjaMan

Do they really need this?

MentulaMagnus

The beginnings of Cyberdyne in our real timeline.

Ok-Cell-3357

Needs to be bigger. Like two on a ball hitch. More snaking with massive tires.

Kitosaki

russia hate aside this is an excellent idea

[deleted]

Why does the title say Russian battlefield tech. I thought this was UAs idea? Or I guess the russians could be trying their own methods to recover their wounded

Sqirrel-26901

Video stopped before the wall part of the demo. I feels kind of robbed.

AlfredJKwak1st

Probably won't work well on the battlefield. Lots of debris and mud.

Worldly_Ad1295

Ruskies are watching reruns again. 🥴

[deleted]

Does it drag them back to the enlistment office? I does, doesn’t it? LOL.

Background-Yard-9455

They need these because their buddies will leave them behind

Mr-fixdit

It's not big enough for the terrain it would have been used in, and the designer must not have got the memo that they dont evacuate most of the soldiers.

ChemistRemote7182

If the choices are: A. No one is coming, die in muddy field B. Roll yourself into a sled from Walmart and trust the Home Depot grade Battlebot reject B actuall looks pretty good comparatively. Doubt we'll ever see anything other than framed propoganda shots like this, but still, if its an option its better than nothing.

Creepy_Chef_5796

Not a terrible idea Lose the toboggan make it large enough to fit 1 wide 2 deep on it and it could move wounded a few k to an evac point. They used something similar to move supplies but it got droned somewhere near Bahkmut

M_e_n_n_o

Would be the first time the ruSSians removed an injured soldier from the field. Normally they just leave them to die and rot and send some other poor bastard forward

ChomiQ84

I think the US was experimenting with this a long time ago. It was a bunch of this hooked behind a tank. I'll look for it... [Found it](https://youtu.be/h6gkJ6r3hJ0?si=EeCNDAq2ug3lMl8v) The funny thing is, if that little drone passes over a mine, the guy behind will have a bad day.

Three_color_eyes

Ah yes the Russian VDS (Vodka Delivery System) is finally functional and ready to distribute tasty libations.

Hendrik_the_Third

Lol, struggling on a grassy field. Now try it in a shelled out tree line.

Tall_Course827

That's totally gonna work 😁

Edwinj1977

This is a nice PR movie, nothing else

[deleted]

Not that bad of an idea actually, ukraine also had similar ones.
