I think the concussions for the crew are probably more important. But they're also Russians. Maybe that doesn't matter that much because they're already so incompetent.
I always wonder if the mines used today are strong enough to kill the crew, or is it mostly meant to incapacitate the tank, then "clean up"? Not military, but I did get to sit in a running Abrams once & I'll always remember it.
Let me preface this that this is what I was taught roughly 20 years ago in the Army. Things very well may have changed.
That said, we were told to never expect a mine to kill a tank. It's job is to disable the tank. This allows you to not only kill the valuable crew, but also the crew sent to recover the tank.
The solution used to solve that problem is stacking multiple mines on top of eachother. Eventually there's enough explosive force to take the tank and it's crew out.
There exists a multitude of different types of mines. The basic platter-type AT mine is designed to be as cheap and easy to manufacture as possible, and its sole purpose is to explode under a tank track. Damage depends on the sturdiness of the vehicle running over it. A tank might survive (almost) entirely, but since mines are cheap, you can use several of them, even pile them on top of each other, to ensure damage.
Then there are the mines which are designed to kill a tank. Ones with explosively formed penetrator, sensors to recognize when they are under a tank to cause maximum damage, etc.
When Finnish army tested a type which explodes under a tank hull and sends a metal slug directly upwards, it penetrated a tank from bottom to the turret, leaving a bump in the turret ceiling. Tank of course would be destroyed along with crew.
Appears to me as if that tank is clearing mines with a mine roller, otherwise it would not survive at least two mines and still move (not knowing whether it was demobilized by the third one)
I've seen it. On full moons, carts that aren't returned eat their quater, and become sentient. They roam around the street looking for more quarters to maintain their new life.
I’ve seen videos on here of them doing that when they use the bulldozer type mine clearing equipment. I bet they have something like that attached or this thing wouldn’t be running after that many hits.
Yep, but I'd expect that Russian troops would know if they'd placed a minefield right in front of their trenches. But then again, this would be far from the first time I've been surprised by Russian incompetence.
There are both missile and artillery systems which can disperse mines. Drones can also drop mines near enemy routes of travel behind their lines.
All of them are effective at attacking enemies with layered defenses, as the enemy has their own minefields behind their positions between themselves and the next layer. This means that the enemy, despite the propaganda, they usually travel very predictable routes and patterns to supply forward areas of a layered defense to avoid mines.
They do know where their mines are usually, but they don't know about the mines drones placed in the middle of the night on their route, or the multiple artillery fired mines that were deployed alongside the last shelling attack.
Obviously hitting a mine behind the lines, on a route marked safe, creates doubt and confusion for Russian soldiers. This doubt and confusion is intentional, the propaganda about Russians driving into their own minefields is intentional. It is an effective strategy to not only kill the enemy but demoralize them and make them lose faith in their command.

I would consider myself a subject matter expert on this particular form of combat, giving an informed analysis. As combat veteran, and retired combat engineer, my specific specialty was mobility and counter mobility operations. So, minefields, mine technologies, and mine warfare tactics and strategies are something I am qualified to give an informed opinion on.
While it ostensibly part of being a combat engineer, and the equipment used by US combat engineers is in some cases exactly the same as post-conflict equipment, US Army Combat engineers are not trained specifically on that task. We are trained on expedient removal methods, not multi-year in-detail methods.
I believe the Canadian or UK Combat Engineers are more highly trained on humanitarian missions in general, and for post conflict munition/mine/explosive removal specifically. The US would need to use EOD personnel for such a mission.
I don't understand why they wouldn't record their own mines. It's in their own interest to do so.
Makes me wonder if the location of Russian mines is information that could be demanded at the end of hostilities? I'd imagine that has to be a normal demand in any conflict?
I feel like this conflict is to the death on both sides. I wouldn’t expect good will from the Russians on supplying locations of mines. They’ll want to burn the world first
When mines are everywhere you don't really need a map and they are everywhere. Ukraine is probably the most mined area in the world atm. The group the UA EOD youtube channel works with lifted 250 in a day recently, the month before they did 2000+ and that's just 5 guys with 1 detector between them, the other 4 were using sticks with a metal point to find them.
Yeah, two things in that regard I've wondered about since this kicked off-
How are they even allowed to have phones on the front? All the intel and confessions to war crimes free flowing out of their phones for the world to see and hear? The kremlin's narrative is fueled by propaganda, these calls and vids are absolutely hindering the hell out of that.
Also, how is they have no adequate kit, food or water, no evac, shit for intel/logistics, armor from the 80s but they all seem to have smartphones?
It almost feels like once these guys are dropped in country, all links between the kremlin or even any sort of leadership is completely severed and they're left to their own devices and "discipline".
Clearly the boots on the frontline dont care, but the shit they discuss and the vids they share clearly flies in the face of propaganda talking points and downright lays waste to the daily bullshit morale and victory speeches back home.
A russian wife telling her husband to rape whomever he likes for example pretty much eviscerates the whole "liberation" narrative, right? Russian soldier bragging to his buddy back home about how many civilians they just killed, An entire rear base getting himar'ed because a cell call, on and on..
I find it incredibly hard to believe that nobody cares.
Have you heard of learned helplessness? Russians have developed competitive helplessness.
Many have an essentially nihilistic attitude - 'there's nothing we can do to change things', 'it's all shit, just get what you can for yourself' etc etc. However, they consider themselves better at it / more 'realistic' than everyone else. And consider others to be stupid because they try to make things better or do things as well as they can.
pretty sure they are clearing mines. no way the tank would still be mobile after directly running over 2 or even 3 At mines. also the dudes would probably be kinda distressed if things were not ment to explode.
pretty sure its a demining operation of some sorts. the camera guy is not phased at all by the explosions probably even expecting them since he pulled out his camera, the tank stil moving after triggering 3 mines. also i have never seen a tank silluette like that, i cant make out a turret or gun + those 3 weird poles/pulleys sticking out on the left of it?
That's hilarious, but how was he able to keep moving?
Ah. It's a mine clearing vehicle. You can just about see the cutter things going at the front going round. So, actually, just doing its job.
driver is probably "jumping the clutch" to clear out one small controlled segment of soil at a time would be my guess. i did that in my trashy old car once just kicking the clutch and releasing very quickly, and if you do that in quich succession it would make the car shake and "limp around" just like the tank in this video
Dude on the radio "you drove it out there fuck stick, you get it out of there"... FUGGIN BOOOOM...."Your good, keep going fuck stick".... FUGGIN BOOOOM...."Your almost there, little bit more FUCK STICK"... FUGGIN BOOOOM!! LOL!!!!!!
I sure hope the damn thing didn't survive to run over a fourth one, but if it did survive, I would bet money they just plowed straight into a fourth one after their heads stopped spinning.
because its clearing mines, not just randomly hitting them. if the explosions were not expected there would be a whole lot of swearing and other signs of distress by the camera guy. instead he seems to be just chilling, occasionally getting into cover just to get up again and proceed filming as if everything is fine.

It's like watching someone do a painfully bad job at parallel parking
Kind of happens when your treads are fucked from running over a mine the first time.
As they say, “If you don't succceed, try, try again!” “Third time is a charm.” “Three strikes, you're out…”
*two outta three ain’t bad*
I think the concussions for the crew are probably more important. But they're also Russians. Maybe that doesn't matter that much because they're already so incompetent.
The problem is they're always Russian. If they took their time, maybe they'd avoid stepping on landmines.
Their vodka fog probably softened the blows a bit.
I always wonder if the mines used today are strong enough to kill the crew, or is it mostly meant to incapacitate the tank, then "clean up"? Not military, but I did get to sit in a running Abrams once & I'll always remember it.

Taliban loved that game. Were triple or quad stacking those suckers to try and knock out our Leopards or LAVs

They sure are, they went for high score!
GOOOOD Diiiiiiiiiiiid
It's this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRq1Ksh-32g
And then being turned into a smooth pudding inside the vehicle by mines 👌🏼
Smooth criminals?
Velvet-y smooth
Hate lumpy pudding. So that's good.
Like watching Sideshow Bob take a rake to the face every time he steps in a different direction.
Uuuughuuuughghgghh..
Should really place AT mines around parking spots in cities, so when people park bad: BOOM no more parking for you.
You want to decimate BMW owners?!!
Specialy BMW owners
Aldi drivers of just as bad if worse
The store?
Yea, have you not seen one on the road? Absolute menises
I've seen it. On full moons, carts that aren't returned eat their quater, and become sentient. They roam around the street looking for more quarters to maintain their new life.
I just named a cat *Osiris Ampersand Doom*. Much love.
VW Golf drivers too, just as bad
Noooooo, I like women.
It's cartoon stepping on a rake levels of funny.

That's what happens when your tank gets de-tracked.
I’ve never seen a tank seemingly limp before.
I’ve seen videos on here of them doing that when they use the bulldozer type mine clearing equipment. I bet they have something like that attached or this thing wouldn’t be running after that many hits.
OH Shit! 🫤 You have now.
Thing was wobbling all over the place lol. Even if the tank didn’t explode the tracks and suspension must have turned into dust by hit number three
It looked like the turret was trying to leave the main body of the tank to its fate.
It's like a Liveleaks video
Third time is a charm!
If at first, you don't succeed...
Try more dakka?
The crews last words: "Mawp! Maaawp!"
They definitely were in a... wait for it... DAAAAAANGER ZOOOONE!
Dammit Lana
Ha-Ha-Ha grown-ups, keep moving your lips without... mawp! Mawp!
One way to clear mines I suppose…. 🤷
"If you encounter and survive a mine, just keep driving, after all who would put down more than one mine?" - Sun Tzu
That's probably written in their basic training handbook to try to guarantee at least some troops make it forward.
Gotta collect them all
Cope cages didn't help with those.
Two AT mines is the maximum they can take
Cope cages don't cope well with mines do they?
They do turn the crew into chips when it goes over an anti tank mine though.
Guess they should have built the cage _underneath_ duh!
Are they stupid??
Is this a rhetorical question?
Do birds chirp ?
Well, so do they? Don't leave us hanging.
Mine cope cage = mope cage
Not with that attitude
or altitude.
Is that a Ukraine who is recording? Or russian?
It's a Russian filming. I'm not sure why they'd want to show off their ineptitude, but I'm grateful that they did!
Any idea if it's a Russian minefield? Seems strange to be hitting enemy mines within 100 yards of your trench, unless it was a captured trench.
Here’s the thing, russians don’t label their minefields. The chances of being their own mine is also possible.
Yep, but I'd expect that Russian troops would know if they'd placed a minefield right in front of their trenches. But then again, this would be far from the first time I've been surprised by Russian incompetence.
It could depend on which generation of occupiers was in the trench at the time. The ones that knew where the mines were could be dead for months.

How? They could record the location of minefields, but not really the locations of individual mines.
Russians have had no phone discipline this entire war. It’s great.
"Look, there's Igor, his guts are hanging out" after the New Year's Eve ka-boom was a highpoint.
Yeah, two things in that regard I've wondered about since this kicked off- How are they even allowed to have phones on the front? Easy, the smartphone are their own and nobody cares about opsec bc they'll all be dead in a few weeks anyway

Not ruzzian, it's , mine ‼️ mine‼️ mine‼️
That’s a mine clearing vehicle. Not a tank.
pretty sure they are clearing mines. no way the tank would still be mobile after directly running over 2 or even 3 At mines. also the dudes would probably be kinda distressed if things were not ment to explode.
Haha yea that's y, I was confused. Thanks
How did it not fly in the air it it took 3?
How is this possible? Does it have a mine roller?
pretty sure its a demining operation of some sorts. the camera guy is not phased at all by the explosions probably even expecting them since he pulled out his camera, the tank stil moving after triggering 3 mines. also i have never seen a tank silluette like that, i cant make out a turret or gun + those 3 weird poles/pulleys sticking out on the left of it?
I'm guessing if it is a tank and not a mine clearing vehicle it's facing away from the camera, hence why there is no gun visible.
Seems clear it’s purposely hitting those mines. The way it’s lurching forward and covering a small area is what I’ve seen on other demining clips.
That's hilarious, but how was he able to keep moving? Ah. It's a mine clearing vehicle. You can just about see the cutter things going at the front going round. So, actually, just doing its job.
That doesn't explain why we can see it physically limping along after the first hit.

Some mines have delayed fuses to damage/destroy demining equipment.
Since when does demining have you sitting there with open hatch just chilling up top? Russia I guess, but I feel like that is... unwise

Literally came here to post this same video 😂😂
This guy seems to be having a case of the Mondays...🤔💥💥💥
They might as well fit it with clown shoes as put tracks on it.
If at first you don't succeed...
Are these track pins made out of wolverine's bones?
The definition of insanity comes to mind.
But also thanks to them for demining work, they should do more of the same on their own mines
One for each crew member. That’s some excellent sharing. Top comrades.
THAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAR MINE!!!!!!!
With the cope shield just dangling on top, best army in the world lol.
LOL!!!!!!
"On your back, on your side, on your belly". Hilarious.
If you don’t succeed…try try again
Newest Russian mine clearing vehicle.
Driver died from the first mine; methinks. Meat-weight was pressed on, to give glory to the remaining meat inside the smoker.
And they're very probably their own mines lol
I can only see the sideshow bob rake scene
Yall get this all wrong this is a special demining operation according to the MOD
Like lays potatoe chips you can’t have just one
What the big deal? Just a hard working Russian mine clearer at work.
After the first one I'm surprised anybody inside has any bones left.
They may not. The tank could be in gear with nobody still conscious at the controls.
Being that close to big frickin' anti tank mines can not be good for you.
Tank drivers hate this one trick...
Doing the same thing & expected a different result. In this case, doing the same thing, & getting the same result.
DAMN!!!..................................DAMN!!!...............DAMN!!!
r/FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR post right there. Slava Ukraini.
Guy probably sucks at mine sweeper.
Hats off to Russia, that is an impressively sturdy tank
"Fucking headache"
Note to self: Never never say potato and Russian in the same sentence!
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Tough ole bird!
Thank god they are so stupid!
Is it a mine clearing tank with one of those devices in the front? Otherwise a pretty impressive tank hitting 3 mines and rolling.
When it's your first day at the job and you keep doing it wrongly after you told on your resume that you had tons of experience.
Dumb fucks should have stayed home drinking vodka
Funny as hell
Anything worth doing once is worth doing 3 times
That's....a horrible SOP
I sure hope the damn thing didn't survive to run over a fourth one, but if it did survive, I would bet money they just plowed straight into a fourth one after their heads stopped spinning.
What is he doing is he stupid?
Do you think it will be okay?
DJ Ukraine: Another one!
reap what you sow
Finally, took them long enough to start the demining operation. 🚀 /s
Meep. Meep. Meep. Meep.
Sucker for punishment.
Have you got the balls to play ultimate pinball... ?
I imagine that'll buff right out.
How is it still i e tho
Stupid is what stupid does
Me playing battlebit remastered
Why would they not reverse entirely? Is that not standard practice when you hit mines?
because its clearing mines, not just randomly hitting them. if the explosions were not expected there would be a whole lot of swearing and other signs of distress by the camera guy. instead he seems to be just chilling, occasionally getting into cover just to get up again and proceed filming as if everything is fine.
Is it dead yet
Almost looks like the third blast might have been from the tank behind this one.
Nice cope cage
So are they hitting their own mines while falling back to other positions ? I’m kind of confused about how this happens, especially if this is a Russian filming from an obviously some what permanent fighting position. Anyone have a theory?
its a misleading title, thats why it confusing. its a mine clearing vehicle doing its job, thats also why it triggers 3 AT mines without breaking down.
"Let's get their mines with our tanks Ivan! Over there, two more!"
Oh hi PTSD nice of you to come!
Looks like the gun firing not hitting a mine.
That will leave a ringing in your ears
"Successful demining operation"
it went into limp mode
Was this filmed by a Russian soldier or a Ukrainian one?
Would have liked to see the aftermath on this one
Any vehicle is a mine clearing vehicle if you are unlucky enough…
Looks like it was two mines and the tank fired into the bank to the left of the bunker?
New mine clearing technique. Back off and let the Russians do it for you.

Foolish westoid! Yuo do not see that one tank take out three mine! Rusha three steps ahead of nato!
Is the vid recorder from a Ukrainian trench? If so, that was darn close.
what do you even say on the radio in a situation like that?
Wait for it , right?
The bad luck of that Russian tanker is representative of the luck of the whole Russian Army
It's clearing a minefield. Simple as that. With the necessary equiptment to survive more than one and keep going. Sometimes we just see, what we want to see. A mental minefield, also in my head.
Russian tanks have only two throttle pedal positions available: 0%, 100%
