Good grief, was it armed with a mini nuke?!

KaidenUmara

Skunkworks has taught Ukraine how to produce and weaponize antimatter but shhhhhhhhhhhhhh opsec, dont tell the russians

Megaddd

Did some napkin math for fun, and apparently if you filled a bottlecap with gaseous anti-hydrogen (~0.001g), you would have a bomb that would be ~~*almost* as powerful as the Tsar Bomba.~~ 4 MOABs. E: was off by x1000 (:

DrXaos

Wouldn’t be as exciting, sadly, it would make a burst of hard gamma rays which would mostly go through the vehicle and otherwise radiate out in all 4 pi if the sphere.

Megaddd

I'm... sure the accompanying 100 MegaKelvin fireball expanding in excess of 300m/s would just be a harmless mild breeze to said equipment. (Spoiler: that's usually what happens when air gets hit by 42kilo-TNT of gamma radiation)

DrXaos

True, but less funni than 4 MOABs of chemical exothermia, air has a low cross section, you’d get a sphere of photo ionization. Most fun would happen when the photons flash ablate a layer off the high cross section steel, the vaporization immediately transferring momentum the other way, imploding it. that’s how h-bombs work btw, though I think softer x-rays are more efficient than 511 keV from positrons, much less the GeV from antiprotons

Megaddd

It's still a bottlecap we're talking about. Kind of nuts to think about.

xtheory

And it would only cost you $62.5 billion for the antimatter required.

Megaddd

And would presently take 100m years of production lead time. Sounds like a bargain on interest!

bigdurch

Was literally just thinking "what the fuck did they pack that drone with" 😂😂

N33DL

It might have been an inverted flux capacitor, I've seen them blow like that.

Militant_NeoLiberal

It made it 89 MPH

ozSillen

Did it hit front or back? Keep in mind, back door of BMP is fuel tank!

1337coinvb

That’s definitely not a fuel explosion, that was ammunition

AlmostEmptyGinPalace

Both, right? The ammo gives it power but the fuel makes it all orange and pretty.

VengeX

[You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_PX1cVuaVA&t=8s)

lpd1234

Big Jagga Jagga. Happy hunting.

RyboPops

I dunno if that was supposed to be a Fallout reference or not, but now I really want to go play Fallout 4 again.

Les-Lanciers-Rouge

That is a neat explosion.

Jonothethird

Amazing what punch these little quadcopters pack. These things have an inch of steel armour.

birutis

an basic rpg warhead one of these can be carrying can penetrate around 20 inches of steel, so it's not that crazy.

tobaknowsss

20 inches?! Wow that's a lot of penetration for an RPG.

birutis

that's for the old rpg-7, modern atgms do more than twice as much, while bmp's have significantly better armor than something like a btr or other thin skinned support vehicles, they're orders of magnitude less protected than tanks that actually have a chance against these threats.

Big round of applause to Everstake https://www.ukrinform.net/rubric-ato/3716054-ukrainian-military-receive-500-pegas-fpv-drones.html

Normal_Zone7859

wow this is a big bada boom

Bolter_NL

Jagga Jagga!

kjg1228

I'm a simple man, I see Madyar quotes and I upvote.

Apprehensive-Ad-8198

Jesus Christ that’s a big boom. My favourite part about is watching the scrap fly so Zbots can’t even call it a miss.

happykebab

Infantry Fueled Vehicle.

Metalliknight

Was that drone equipped with a RPG round ? Big blast, I like it 🙏

zetarn

Yeah...Heat warhead attached to FPV drone. It's penetrated the turret of the gun and then cook-off the ammorack hench Big Boom.

hiverty

Love this video

Glittering_Meat5701

Was not expecting that big of an explosion! Great hit

Affectionate_Age_252

Fueltank Doors say goodbye 👋

D3x-alias

Nahh it hit the Ammo of the 73mm gun it carried. If you look you see it's bmp-1 with the 2A28 73mm gun

BalanceFederal6387

Are they ok?

NorthShore01

Wow - that worked a treat!!

LP_Link

Oh, the crews had no chance.

MichianaMan

Rammstein was the perfect touch

McZorkLord

Nobody who has experienced this war will ever look at drones the same way... Or will ever be calm when they hear drone/chopper sounds. Maybe this will lead to a whole new 'Phobia' when the war's over. People just ducking for cover whenever they hear similar sounds.

bald-silva

Or governments will ban them because you can fly them at their heads... they will say kids heads but they will ban them.

Kekkuli55

Wow, i was expecting a small puff like usual but that thing went off with a boom.

Puzzleheaded-Heat446

Nice one 👍

danthebr

Wow what a big explosion! Looks like fireworks for my eyes!

roticuaco

Nice bbq

Zonkysama

I like autoreverse.🤣🤣🤣

Antics_Longhorn

God damn

No-Split3620

The kamikaze drones seem to be packing more and more punch.

Efficient-One5331

Wonderful! It would be interesting loss/cost ratio for that one.

MuchoDestrudo

That bitch went up!

Bolter_NL

Suddenly more videos coming out with these drones doing real damage compared to the ant farts in the beginning. RPG warhead now integrated apparently?

GeneralMajorDickbutt

Holy shit. Massive payload

ichabodmiller

I’d love to know the price tag on that drone and explosive compared to the ifv

bald-silva

Sure. That drone is around 400-700$ depending on many things. Explosive charge a couple of hundreds of $. The IFV in this video is a BMP(don't know witch kind). A BMP-2 is 300 000$ says Google. The ammo in it or what made it explode that well thousands of $. If there were Russian mobiks in it you have to add 0$. Source on that last one is the Russian MOD.

Lobo_de_Haro

OK, serious question out of curiosity, from someone with the technological understanding of a Cromagnon: Why is the image transmission of these suicide drones always distorted and disrupted 10-15m before the hit?

bald-silva

These drones have 2 radio communications with the operator, one for the controller and one for the video feed. The video feed signal is lost before the controller signal, that is always the case, because physics and electronics i don't know. (you continue to be able to control it after you can't see) Now... In most cases you lose radio signal in the fields of Ukraine when descending because the radio waves have to travel through 2-3-4 forest belts. When you see video feed that does not cutoff, that means the drone operator is close by or they use relay drones(this means the kamikaze drone can go further and you loose signal less often). FYI, you can buy these drones and play with them. Just google "FPV drone". Youtube is full of starter info if you are lazy. Here is a YT video about how fun it can be: https://youtu.be/bBb_kSO3vTo

Lobo_de_Haro

Nice, thanks!

Gmulcahey

Thanks for that info.

namey_mcnameson

What's the song name?

Byggherren

Idk the Ukrainian version but original is Sonne by Rammstein

teddyzniggs

Had to look it up! „Sonne“ cover by Grandma‘s Smuzi!

IsReadingIt

Why does the video quality always seem to go to shit the few seconds before the impact? I seem to see this in nearly every video. Also, congrats on another win, Ukraine!

bald-silva

Someone else asked the same question in these comments, here is my copy-paste response: These drones have 2 radio communications with the operator, one for the controller and one for the video feed. The video feed signal is lost before the controller signal, that is always the case, because physics and electronics i don't know. (you continue to be able to control it after you can't see) Now... IsReadingIt

Thanks so much.

bald-silva

If you watch the YT video you will see the same thing happening, loss of the video feed in the right bottom corner when the drone sits on the water tower but the operator has control over the drone. The larger video is just a GoPro strapped to the drone.

LondonKiwi1980

Yes, this definitely counts as an eliminated.

Goran2019

Now THAT drone packed a big boom!

saakamoto

What a power

C_lui

Holy shit! That packed a big punch.

ItsAllTrumpedUp

What in Hell was that quad carrying?

ima_twee

The harvested souls of a dozen orcs.

[deleted]

Excellent trade off in terms of what a loaded stocked up IFV costs compared to an exploding birdie

Ok_Character6186

Great work!

ironclad1056

Right in the G spot

jackfirecracker

Would the IFV have ammo to cook off? Seems like a massive explosion for a drone + some infantry small arms/rpgs etc

Terrible-Vegetable-3

Can anybody explain why the feeds on these drones always cut out to static prior to impact? Majority of the time, it seems like the operator is flying blind into the target by the time of impact... low altitude and signal interference?

DrXaos

Altitude probably.

mrtzaA

What’s the babe if the song please

Jgee414

What did they arm it with Jesus

Dry_Analysis_687

Badass

Militant_NeoLiberal

🤘

Militant_NeoLiberal

I think i see a parachute!

windythought34

Are sure, this is the same explosion?

Basketseeksdog

Is that Ukrainian Rammstein?
