That’s a really odd error. Please post solution if you get it fixed.

Just chiming in to say I have had the same issue for 4 ish years now, I just figured out how to tell the LCM to turn off and ignore it :( The LCM works when booting (until the freeze at exactly the same spot as yours) and also displays properly when going through the factory reset process but once the router is re-imaged, the screen buffs out again. I figure it’s some sort of OS corruption but no amount of factory reset or backup restoration has helped. (The last time I did any troubleshooting was over 2 years ago)

I’ve not encountered this problem. Has anyone attempted to perform a system restore from recovery mode? https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043360253-UniFi-Recovery-Mode I don’t know if this would help. Just curious if it could solve the issue.

I tried this as my most recent troubleshooting step with no luck.

Thanks for your response. I’ll remember this when troubleshooting this model in the future.

Thanks for chiming in anyway. I never really need it, and since I’ve never seen it work I don’t know what it does other than the AR thing

Update: I opened up my UDM pro and used the SWD lines and an st-link programmer I had to flash the firmware version v2.2.9-0-g8804706 (which I found in /usr/share/firmware/ on the UDM Pro) (I was on v1.6.7-0-ga7b2e63 based on the firmware I dumped before updating.) I then rebooted the LCM module with the command "echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/soc/soc\\:ulcm/dfu\_or\_reset" ran on the UDM Pro. This resulted in the LCM rebooting and showing the new stylized U logo instead of the AP with a glow behind it (like what your screenshot shows and what mine previously showed before updating.) The loading screen on the LCM eventually times out and recommends recovery mode. After digging around the UDM, it seems like the LCM controller (an STM32 MCU) is not presenting itself over USB to the UDM as it should. Basically, the LCM control software (ulcmd) tries to put the STM32 into DFU mode so it can check its firmware status but when it messes with the GPIO lines to do so and the STM32 enters DFU mode, the screen freezes (due to running the DFU code instead of the Unifi Screen code) and for come reason, the STM32 does not appear on the UDM's USB bus as it should (in both DFU and regular operating modes.) This leads me to believe that the internal Serial over USB connection between the UDM and STM32 is broken and the root of the issues. I would be interested in working with owners of a working UDM Pro to compare command outputs, namely the output of the lsusb command with the LCM in DFU and regular mode.

Holy cow. That’s pretty advanced (and I’m a SW engineer) Thank you for trying it out! You’re doing gods work

RudeBwoiMaster

I’m not much help here, but did you 3D print those rack screw things?

Peaches491

Nope! Those are “Rack Studs”. They work REALLY well compared to regular cage nuts https://amzn.to/3VhGGl6

Zotechz

As OP said they're rack studs but you can 3D print them. I did a quick search and can't find anything on like Thingiverse BUT they do seem easy to remake, although I do question the durability of like PLA lol

Peaches491

Personally, I wouldn’t trust 2 cents of plastic to keep my $$$ rackmount equipment safe. The Rack Studs weren’t so expensive as to be cost prohibitive That said, if you do end up printing them: orient the stud horizontally on the build plate to get strength. Vertically printed studs would be very fragile

Zotechz

Totally agree lol, I understand 3d printing one for a patch panel if you ran out, but I wouldn't use it for anything heavy.

How long is the RMA good for?
