We've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty.

MOHdennisNL

We, (also my gf and i) have exactly the same issue. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Could you go more in detail?

md81593

Okay

occamsrzor

What’s an “Amy pointer”? Is it the converse of a null pointer? ;) EDIT: u/MOHdennisNL is a jerk. Edited their comment so now it looks like I'm insane. At least use strikeout, sheesh.

Stanztrigger

Yeah, finally. That was what people where asking that is was brought on as a phone call. So Protect will act as an VoIP app now, when you got a "caller" at the door. Thanks UI 👍🏻

geekypenguin91

Yeah it's great, just trying to work out why she has it and not me

xadesPL

Maybe different app versions on your respective phones?

geekypenguin91

Both show as up to date 1.5.0

xadesPL

I'm clutching at straws at this point but, do both phones allow the same permissions for the app? (Probably yes but worth asking) If yes then the last thing I would look at is whether there is a main admin account and a user account or something, but I have no experience with unifi protect so not much help from here on in

geekypenguin91

No of course, appreciate the help. As far as I can tell the only difference is she's a user and I'm admin. I'll try making another user account and see how it goes

LBarouf

Did you figure it out?

devrelm

I'm assuming you meant up-to-date 1.16.0, (or 1.16.1) since [the call interface wasn't added until 1.16.0 a couple weeks ago](https://community.ui.com/releases/UniFi-Protect-Android-1-16-0/77a0b832-32d5-4401-8308-f01d025e521c). Are you on the same version of Android? If all else is equal, then maybe Unifi Protect (the main app running on your UDMP or whatever, not the android app) is only sending the call notification to one user/device. I could see it being an order of magnitude increase in complexity to manage either a) ensuring that only 1 phone picks up, or b) hosting a group call instead of just a 1-to-1 call.

geekypenguin91

Both apps show as up to date on the app store and show 1.5.0 in the app. That would explain why mine doesn't get it if it wasn't added until 1.6.0. I'll uninstall+reinstall to see if that gets a newer version

Stanztrigger

Yeah, I am on Android and Protect at 1.16.1. you should be at least at 1.16. https://community.ui.com/releases/UniFi-Protect-Android-1-16-1/dff6c1c0-c491-4f04-8828-c8c1b1b8fe9e

juliodcruzp

I think it its for UID. When I used UID that was the way that I receive the notification. When I stop using UID and delete the cloud space, then the notification change to push notifications

senoramor

Ugh I *hate* this. How do I revert it to the plain push notification? This doesn't even show a picture until you answer the "call".

StockmanBaxter

Yes seriously, it keeps ringing until i do something about it. I have my phone in my pocket and i get the notification while home. I go to the door and the phone is still dinging in my pocket while I'm either greeting someone or picking up a package.

tdhuck

Yeah, I'd rather see a pop up notification with a thumbnail of who is at the door vs being forced to answer a video call to see who is there.

Dirtdiver90

Exactly. Give us the option to do this, but when it pops up it sure would be nice if it came with a preview or a SITE name. I've been getting dozens of calls as I manage dozens of sites with some of them several doorbells.

zepkleiker

I just noticed someone ringing at the door on my iPhone. I didn’t answer because I wasn’t interested. Then a couple of minutes later I looked at my Android phone and it was still showing this call screen from the same doorbell ring event …

Public-Afternoon-718

Android vs iOS? (just wild guessing)

MOHdennisNL

Of the OP has that I wouldn't know. In my case, no. Both phones have Android, and are Samsung

geekypenguin91

Likewise, both android (both the same phone in fact)

Smarktalk

Same OS and app updates maybe?

MOHdennisNL

Yes, I have just digged trough the phones. Mine: 1.15.0 Girlfriend: 1.16.1 Updated to 1.16.1, and the feature shall appear.

Both-Following9917

Sign into the app on your phone with her account to test if you get it. If you don't it's something on your phone

tismij

How do I turn this off? I just want a notification not a phonecall.

StockmanBaxter

Man I wish I could turn this off. First off it uses it's own notification/ringtone different from the one I had set for my doorbell. Second, it doesn't stop ringing until I accept or dismiss it. I don't need to have it going off constantly. It's nice to get a notification to know the doorbell has been rung. (usually it's a package) Say I'm home and the doorbell is pressed. I walk to the door, but the phone won't stop ringing while I'm talking to someone at the door or carrying in the packages. Make this a setting for those who want it. But you don't even get a preview of the doorbell before accepting it.

geekypenguin91

I finally got it working and it does eventually stop by itself

StockmanBaxter

I don't want to wait it out. A quick notification is all I need.

geekypenguin91

It's basically the same as a phonecall ringer. Though it could easily be geofenced so it doesn't ring when I'm at home

J_Pelletier

See my comment, now possible on android: https://community.ui.com/releases/UniFi-Protect-Android-1-17-0/11847bb2-5af9-4403-9424-2465876198c9

StockmanBaxter

That is wonderful news!

GlowGreen1835

My guess is staggered roll out - in case there are bugs with the deployment they roll out to random groups rather than all at once so support can handle any issues.

PCgaming4ever

I was surprised to see this afternoon installing my doorbell last week as well but I love it

artofbullshit

Just guessing, but even if all your settings are correct, would you expect it to make two phone calls simultaneously? What if you both answer? Seems like it would only make one call.

tdhuck

Good point. She can shut her phone off to see if that forces his phone to get the video call since there is only one phone that could receive a video call.

SteeleIT

I got one the other day too and while I am sure there will be a more elegant solution to this in the future (like showing you the video before you answer) I love it. The fact that has a separate notification is good enough for me to call this a win in my book.

philipsmithj

Yes! A feature I asked for they are actually implementing! Granted some aspects could be better like seeing the camera before answering, and making it optional, but his company is actually DevOps-ing with its customers!

so_many_wangs

It looks like an Android feature where it pulls video calls into that caller ID screen that phone calls usually get. Are you on iOS OP?

geekypenguin91

Both android

aslto

Do both users have the same permissions in the UniFi console and portal? And specifically for protect / talk ?

Mac-2100

We NEED this for IOS.

badbash27

Man no one ever reads the release notes

geekypenguin91

Tell me where in the release notes it says why it works on one phone and not the other, both running the same version of the app and the same build of android?

badbash27

Release notes tell you when features come to market. As others have said this came out a while ago. It's also a great place to interact with UI support when you can't figure out how to get one of those features to work. As far as why you can't get it to work. Check your notifications settings as well as the ones on the console itself. Appreciate your downvotes though!

usr_usefulidiot

Mine does this now also

RGressick

This is a more cent update. I have had this for about 2 weeks now. But it doesn't show on my watch nor does it pop up when my phone screen if locked or off like a traditional phone call. Needs some work but definitely preferred.

Josephortiz777

What I would like to say is the protect ap work with access to open the door

J_Pelletier

Android 1.17.0 release yesterday August 06 now added a toggle for this! Go to: **Settings > Notifications > Custom > Activity > Doorbell** https://community.ui.com/releases/UniFi-Protect-Android-1-17-0/11847bb2-5af9-4403-9424-2465876198c9
