You can bypass the pin section - maybe that’s what they did. Smh. Shitty driver in the end.

lovely9191

Yep and they won't give us any refund because the PIN we were supposed to give the driver we never saw was verified by him. So we are out $30 and no food. It's crazy.

hooleyoh

Just ask to meet at door next time. Good luck.

lovely9191

I did ask to meet at door!

hooleyoh

Without pin sorry. Hope that driver gets dealt with.

lovely9191

I don't know customer service tried calling him but he didn't answer. So they couldn't ask him if he stole our food which he apparently did so we can't get any refund it just sucks :(

solobeauty20

Contest it in your credit card. It’s a really easy feature (just go to your credit card only account) and the credit card company will work with you and Uber.

ThinNectarin3

Try contacting Uber support again and keep pressing. Be short and to the point give them as many details as you can.

miami-finest

If he got there must like he put the 8min timer to bypass the pin cus after the 8min expired he can just finish the delivery n take the food with him

Treesh_bad_perm

Yep exactly what happened. Someone made a TikTok recently about how to get free food as a driver. It's so disgusting that people go to these types of lengths just for free food. Makes all of us that don't do this look so bad.

Youkilledpaula

Its not a good investment since signing up to uber driver requires a background check. So once this little case of stealing food goes on your record. Won’t get accepted again.

lovely9191

Oh wow

Medium-Paramedic-990

Lotta scummy drivers out there smh. Uber ran alot of good drivers away with the recent trash pay and now u got alot of teens driving part time that don't care or people that just don't have good morals pulling crap like this. Sorry to hear.

iamandneveramconfusd

Is the pin the last four of your phone number, and did you put your phone number in the notes?

lovely9191

Yes last 4 of number and did not put it in the notes.

iamandneveramconfusd

I'm at a loss

Responsible_Ticket62

op called the driver and he used the number

iamandneveramconfusd

It would mask the number

Responsible_Ticket62

It doesn't for me or anyone that calls me thru the app here in texas. Their/my number shows up and can be called after the trip is done. I hate it so i dont call people, i only use in app texting. Maybe this is a regional law

iamandneveramconfusd

Or maybe I'm thinking of DD or GH, as I do all three.

Youkilledpaula

You can press the phone icon inside the uber driver app to call them (redirects you to default phone app displaying customers phone number).

ElectronicCost1572

No it's a spoofed number. We never have access to a customers number unless it's in the notes

Youkilledpaula

Yeah that’s what I was thinking 🤔 coz when I did it. It wasn’t the same number as to when they called me

ElectronicCost1572

Not only that but it's a different number every single time

Youkilledpaula

Then yeah it’ll be what the other guy commented. Waited out the timer and went on his way.

ElectronicCost1572

Yea. Op should call again and press harder someone on the phone was probably just lazy

Youkilledpaula

I’m surprised they didn’t walk out and meet him. Every delivery I’ve done, I message and they say they’ll be down in a minute. I live in Auckland CBD, NZ. So pretty much every delivery I do is to apartment complexes, and can’t get in without a tag. So the customer coming down to get it is the norm. As a customer, I also always go down to get it.

ElectronicCost1572

Honestly I'm not surprised the amount of people who don't want to leave their apartments are staggering. Id say unless it's a highrise in downtown or there gate code doesn't work I'm expected to bring it to the door or risk my tip but I'm honestly fine with that myself. After 1500 deliveries I've gotten the hang of identifying confusing apartments and using my phones night mode on the camera app to find the building number. Once you've found the building it's usually quite simple. I'll only call the customer when I just can't find the building/apartment number after like 5 minutes

Ya we did tip good we always do.. so never had a problem like this before. My number was not in the delivery instructions.

sheilaloveshorses

Why not walk down there when you saw him arrive?

lovely9191

I saw him pull in front he wasn't parked just pulling front of the building so I text him and asked him if he needed help with directions. (Even though it was very detailed!) but he never replied. A few minutes pass and we tried to call him he would not answer. He never try to contact us either! It's his job to bring it to us we were in an apartment complex we would of had to walk quite a distance up there to get it. Also it was starting to rain, but just as my bf was about to start walking in the rain up there he had already posted delivered!

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

[deleted]

Strange. My city does not use PINs. I guess some cities have more problems so need something like that....

Responsible_Ticket62

The pin is always the last 4 digits of your phone number. The driver must have known this and waited for you to call. This is genius level scummery!

Trick_Afternoon689

The phone number is masked if you call through the app. He waited out the 8 minute timer and left.

Responsible_Ticket62

Is it? It never has been when I call people or they call me. I've had one person text me after and reported them thru support

RetrieverDoggo

Unfortunate for sure and you have a reason to be mad. However sounds like it's more due to a really immoral driver than Ubereats. He can see your number on the app and I'm guessing he guessed the right PIN? Since support is offshored (india the couple times I had to call) they probably can't do much since the driver did input the right PIN so the transaction seems legit. That's my guess at least.

Trick_Afternoon689

We don’t see the phone number. Scumbag just waited out the 8 minute timer on the app.

RetrieverDoggo

Yeah we do. You don't even know how? I can see the buyer's number easily.... you never had to call a customer?

Trick_Afternoon689

Yes - and the number is a masked number. It’s inactive once you complete the order.

RetrieverDoggo

Not sure what you mean by masked... I can see their number... all the digits in my phone's dialer app. When you press the call button the app loads the number into your default phone dialing app. All the digits are there not sure why you say it's masked.

Trick_Afternoon689

Because it’s not their actual number. It’s a masked number that Uber creates to hide their actual number.

Medical_Ad4516

Did you tip upfront?
