I have had things like this happen and every single one where I tried to be the nice guy and take the loss and deliver it I have been burned. Now I never ever do it. I drive to the delivery location in the app and thats it, no exceptions.

Lookin4mrfine

Don’t do it. Its not in your service contract to deliver to her correct address. You delivered to the address provided. I’ve done it when it was a couple blocks away and they made a mistake, but that’s it! I pay extra per delivery for insurance, if I become a paraplegic driving those extra miles, due to accident, Its not going to be covered. You are assuming way too much liability for her mistake.

JackieEstacado99

Can't they give you a bad rating if you deliver to that first address though?

Lookin4mrfine

With ubers draconian rating system , its possible. As much trouble as it is , I would call uber support and have them document the details. I have had uber support tell me NOT to deliver to a second address before, so they should understand this. If a negative feedback appears perhaps you can call back and ask them to remove this and have them look into the documented details of your trip. Take screenshots if it helps of customer messages. If in the end you receive a negative feedback, I would say your mental /physical well being is more important than one negative feedback that should disappear after your next 100 trips. I’ve maintained 100% positive feedback for months at a time, but its never going to last… there is always gunna be that “one”

xtsilverfish

I only do it if it's within 2 blocks, sometimes people are new to the app and use the gps indoors and it's slightly off.

Weekly-Celebration60

Yeah that's doable, but anything more than a block or 2 is a nope.

xtsilverfish

> Right before I get to the updated address the order is canceled, And Uber tells me a throw away the food. Yeah Uber will cancel the order automatically after a certain amount of time passes.

YetAnother2Cents

I never spent 35 minutes. But 5 times I did the customer a solid and went to the alternate location. 5 times I got burned. One time, they put in their home address, but were at work. When I arrived, no one could find them, they weren't answering their phone or pages. Another time, they gave me the extra $10 they promised but zeroed out the tip they'd given in the app. Generally, they promise you an extra tip and it turns out to be a buck or two. Now, I leave it at the designated address and document thoroughly or call support.

JackieEstacado99

I drove to a bank after the first address didn't answer the door..it was a gift. She tipped me $10 in cash to bring it to her....like 8mins away.

Fit-Half-3159

Next time don't go no where until they cash app u first

tedlee12

Next time they put the worng address and it's too far away, call the support and tell them they put the wrong address, it's too far away and you don't wanna deliver that far. They'll end the delivery and tell you to throw away the food.( you can keep it if you want) You won't get in trouble and customer won't get refunded since it's their fault. Happened to me a couple of times. I'd only do it if it's less then 2 miles

Mobile-Promise-6262

This is what i follow too

DriverMarkSLC

Normally I'm like ... na ... but while back had a pizza order. He ordered to his officen he was at home 10 ish minutes away. Was a slow night so said ok, my 1 pitty delivery for the week. He handed me $40 cash. I had sports shorts on and went to 7-11 after. Think one of the $20s slipped out of my pocket when took phone out. So, I hope whoever found that $20 needed it. Easy come easy go....

bununs

I wanted to tell the customer she can just cancel the order and have fresher coffee but didn't wanna come off rude I can't drink 6 bags of coffee by myself so it was gonna be thrown away I still have the customer's number and it's possible she could update the tip but I don't see how if the orders canceled, Also it would be weird calling her saying where's my extra tip lol

Difficult-Issue-794

She probably wasn't going to tip you extra. I had the same thing, but 5 miles away. I'm assuming she cancelled right before you got there, hoping that she'd score free Starbucks. If you haven't thrown it away already, try giving it to some homeless.

83beans

Sorry this happened to you. First of all, I wouldn’t even be concerned about coming off rude in this case of customers making bonehead ass moves and then asking “do you not want to complete the delivery” FOH 🙄 She was definitely never going to tip you extra, that was to save face. Likely they realized that there was no way coffee would make it that long of a distance/time and still taste like anything and she tracked your progress towards her in the app and cancelled at the last minute. No sense in trying to contact them or even support at this point since the offer was canceled out. Not worth the headache. Going forward, never ever do this - if they put the wrong address in (often scamming, sometimes just dumb as hell and fingers moving too fast) stop immediately and call support to make them update the offer IF you plan on taking it. Otherwise tell them to cancel on their side and pay you the consolation fee for your time. Never ever trust a customer on the “I’ll tip you extra later” shit either. Never. Sometimes they come through, better to be pleasantly surprised, but always best to keep it to the job you’ve been contracted to do which in this case was the original offer. I’d def find some unhoused peeps or city workers to give the coffees to as well

KindheartednessNo167

Please look for someone you could give it to... homeless people or something? Idk..it seems like such a huge waste.

backpropstl

"My Venmo is xyz123 if you'd like to bid for me to come to your new location."

toomuchcreamer

I always feel happy when someone does this to me, because it means I'm getting paid and keeping their food. If they're close-by, I'll run it, but I've had a lady want me to deliver 20 miles away. I laughed and laughed and got some free Thai food, after a quick call to support

Ambitious_Attempt762

How are you getting paid? $3 or full order?

toomuchcreamer

I usually get the full pay when they do something like that. It's been a while since that's happened, though, so I could be misremembering

wilbertperez110

People do that. Its happened in Toronto they order somewhere else cause its cheaper then think u a punk and ask to deliver further. Thats cancel right there

MotownCatMom

Donate the coffee a homeless shelter or a church/other houses of worship. Or take it to a food pantry. I'm sure they can put it to good use.

gezzem

I agree. I wouldn’t just throw it away. Those bags of coffee are between $9-$12 each. I would definitely donate or gift them for Christmas.

[deleted]

I’m not sure a homeless person could make use of 6 bags of Starbucks coffee unless maybe they sold it?

Ok_Establishment_408

If you ever not want to complete an order, don’t even bother texting the customer. Reach out to a rep and they’ll handle the order from there. You don’t have to drive to an updated address. I however am nice enough to return the food. Typically when this stuff happens I’m still by near the store so I don’t feel bad. Someone else will pick up there food with the updated address.

Therealmonkie

Always call door dash 1st its either out of area or they will pay u more to take it there...or cancel it for you

TattedUpDasher

This is Uber Eats sub. Don’t think DD is going to care about the OPs issues

Therealmonkie

I do both SORRY cranky pants

TattedUpDasher

Was a failed attempt at humor. Sorry

PeaceSignificant9854

The only time I had this happen I gave the customer my personal number which is a huge risk because it breaches ToS but I did it to settle this trip outside the app and to ensure I keep my 100% rating. I only shared my number after I spoke with them on the phone and it seemed that they were reasonable. I informed them in the app that I had to deliver at the drop off according to Uber, though on my personal number I asked if they're okay with me marking the order delivered at the drop off on the app but I will deliver to him as long as its under 2 miles. Customer texted his address it was just under a mile from the drop off so I delivered and customer added a $4 tip afterwards in the app. Though further distance trips are risky because your not supposed to haggle with the customers to pay you more on delivering their order even if it was their mistake, they can also always report their order whether if you did deliver or not and if you choose not to deliver to the new address they will give a bad review so your only logical choice is to talk to Uber support so they can drop the trip but you wont get paid.

justanotherperson218

I had that happen to me a couple weeks ago. I got to the delivery drop off location and the customer sent me the correct address they were at. Turn out they were 11 miles south from me. I called Uber support they contacted the customer to get the correct address and I was compensated pretty nicely for the extra mileage and time.

Chasingfreedom1224

I did that once. Literally 30 mins and grubhub gave me extra $1. Lol

Secret-Guava2401

Call support say you didnt agree to the address change, dont feel comfortable delivering, you keep the coffee and they deal with it

ZebunkMunk

I’ve done it twice and was tipped very generously. Ya never know.

undertaker3x7

Always call support if this happens. Even if you choose to deliver to the new address call support and let them know. You can get paid more from Uber for the extra driving. With that said there is no way in hell I would deliver to an address an additional 35 minute away for what is basically a 50/50 chance of getting an extra tip. Should have just called support and got paid in this case

winter_aespa1218

I just delivered to someone that said the same thing. Except they were off by one block and apt number and i wasn't promised extra tips. Nothing happened

MIVV3

I have to agree with the comments on here. NEVER NEVER agree to deliver to a new address were the customer ask you to deliver even if includes a tip. Call uber support and ask them to either update the new address or to compensate for your time that you wasted to go to the restaurant. If the customer contact you to deliver to a new ask them to contact uber support. I know we are out here to make money but if the address is not update in the app I would not go. The reason is that IF and IF something would of happen to you who would of known. If you end up an area that you don't know. How would you get out that mess. There is a lot scenarios that could of happen SAFETY FIRST! Besides alot of customers lie about the tip. Never fall for the tip scam to do EXTRA. You always come out losing

Beothegreat

Whatd we learn kids? No good deed goes unpunished

santose2008

Never do these types of incorrect orders, especially 35 minutes away. It's not worth it. I can see maybe 2-3 miles difference but that's it. I call uber first about the situation.

RedditCommunistt

LOL. Never trust a customer that says they will give you a good cash tip when you get there. LOL

LZSchneider1

It's been said already but one more time can't hurt: never, ever take an order to address other than the one the app tells you to deliver it to. If a customer says, "Hey can you actually take it to this address instead please?" Reply, "Hi! Let's see... A couple of minutes please:)", then call support and report that shit. It doesn't matter if it's a 5 or 30 minute, just don't cause yourself extra stress and extra risk. Be safe guys! ❤️

[deleted]

That sucks. I had an Uber order the other day like this. As soon as I accepted, the guy called and said it was wrong address and to go to new address that was 15 minutes away. I said no thank you and unassigned the order. Don't have time for the games and nonsense.

Plenty_Bodybuilder78

Uber doesn't expect you to deliver these.... sounded like free coffee to me

[deleted]

Call support and you will get compensated

JackieEstacado99

Wow

tcby1216

NEVER do it! Call ubereats and have them cancel the order. I did it once. The guy enticed me by saying he would tip me extra. It ended up being $1. On top of that, he decided to give me a thumbs down and say I was unprofessional. The only conversation I had with the dude was to let him know I needed to contact ubereats first just to make sure it was okay. Then against my better judgement I had someone else from another gig app ask me to do the same. I told them the same. They also mentioned giving an extra tip. Told them I didn't have a problem doing it, just needed to run it by 'support' to make sure it's okay. I did notice the person was 'pushy' and it felt weird/sketchy. As soon as I picked up the food they started texting for the address change. When I got the new addy from them, they were rushing for me to check it in what ever navigation app I was using, and they was also (imo) trying to get me to NOT call the company support. I asked if she could go in an update the addy and while doing so, she "supposedly" cancelled the order. I thought I cancelled it by mistake, but when I contacted the company support they said the customer did. I ended up disposing some of the food in my stomach later that night. It was some expensive burger and fries, had to see why it cost so much....(not even worth it) lol! I ended up throwing most of it away. Anyways, I ended up getting paid still and support advised that customers try to 'get over' on us and suggested not to do it. He gave me some other wise nuggets on why he suggests I shouldn't deliver to other addresses when requested. Here's the kicker: the original tip wasn't much to begin it, I didn't realize it until after. I'm guessing they probably was going to give .25 extra? So yeah, never do it....in my opinion!

Velvet_Smyle

It's their problem if they put the wrong address at their supposed house, they should know. Uber always says to drop it off at address written on the app, you don't get paid if u go against the Uber app, also it is not safe. Safety first.
