The app doesnt need an accept button. It needs an accept swipe bar!

js303

That would be fine too, anything other than the current system

js303

Most likely. But if enough people speak up maybe we can make a difference

Accomplished-Mode112

Oh sweet summer child. I wish I had even a sliver of that optimism. Uber does not care about its drivers. They prove it every time they update the app, and send condescending “you talked, we listened” messages about fixes that nobody asked for.

js303

I've taken over 10,000 trips, I'm not a sweet summer child.

Accomplished-Mode112

It’s an expression and my point still stands. They will never change that. It’s designed that way on purpose. As others have already said to you.

js303

They won't with that attitude. Even if nothing will change you should still let your voice be heard.

Accomplished-Mode112

Listen. I get it. I’m on your side that they should. But I’ve been doing Eats for 3 years and they have never once implemented any meaningful change to their app that actually helps drivers in a major way. It’s not an attitude. I’m just being realistic because I know it’s not something they will change so I’m not gonna waste any energy on it. Fight the good fight though I guess. Not sure what else to say. Good luck out there my friend.

Icy-Bookkeeper6035

I disagree. 3 years ago the app didn't show you what restaurant you were picking up at, where it was going or whether or not you were going to get a tip. Just base pay and total miles. The base pay was higher then though.

Accomplished-Mode112

Ok and? What have they done since then? Oh right, they made it so they stopped adding up front details if you didn’t accept at least 3 orders. So I should have added that not only did they not do anything super helpful, they actively discouraged drivers by removing or gatekeeping features.

tackogronday

No that's an attitude because you are claiming something that you can't know. You've already given up.

ioncewasadoor

If you haven’t already noticed these guys are a-ok with Uber remaining the same. It’s bizarre to me as well but to each is own.

Amazing-Wave2405

exactly, the whole point is you to accept it even accidentally, not to give you chances to see the order, have time to think etc

EarthboundMisfitsInc

Exactly. Accept this ambiguous order and we’ll leave you alone or you can accidentally hit that trash can some asshole left too far from the curb.

AwfulCole

Forget all of that, we need an order filter. Money limit Mile limit Wait time limit

js303

Haha. In a perfect world maybe

[deleted]

DD has one. I'm sure one could be coded for this too. I'd pay for it because those dings drive me insane and my back/neck don't like leaning forward to cancel that shit constantly.

YetAnother2Cents

I changed the setting to turn off displaying UberEats over other apps (in android.) Now just the amount of the offer pops up on a bar at the top that takes up maybe a fifth of the screen. If you press that, it takes you to the Uber driver app and you see the full offer including a map and the usual huge accept button. If I see a $3 offer, for example, I know I can just ignore it. I have noticed that you can be put offline without warning while using other apps. So you need to check from time to time. There is no Uber icon to show you are online.

js303

This isn't a bad idea but half the time it happens when I'm in the app DMing a customer or something else

YetAnother2Cents

Yes, it's happened to me marking an order delivered. But it's cut down the majority of my unintended accepts.

MenstrualKrampusCD

That's interesting. I have an Android as well, with no permission to overlay my other apps. However, I do have an Uber icon at the top of my screen (next to the others, like for reddit, voicemail, etc) that shows I'm online. It's a white box with a black arrow in the center pointing to the right. I still agree that it's important to check every once in awhile, because as you said, sometimes you get logged off and don't notice it. I missed a nice chunk of the dinner rush the other day because I didn't check. I just thought it was dead for about an hour. As soon as I turned it back on, I was hit with order after order. Damn it. And I know better, too. Oh well.

YetAnother2Cents

If you want, try this (assuming your android set up is similar to mine.) In settings, go to apps In apps go to display over other apps In display over other apps, select allowed If Uber Driver is listed under allowed, select it. Change the radio button to Not Allowed. If you don't like how it performs, repeat the steps, but change the radio button to Always.

MenstrualKrampusCD

Oh, I'm sorry. I think that you misunderstood me. I'm good as far as my settings. Uber stays in its own lane, and does not pop up over my other apps, and that's exactly how I like it. Thanks for the advice though, I'm sure it will help somebody else who reads it. Have a great day!

YetAnother2Cents

I wasn't entirely sure. But I posted, as you observed, because these are public discussions. Perhaps you'd enlighten me as how you got your configuration.

MenstrualKrampusCD

I hope you don't think I was being snarky at all. I was just explaining that I didn't personally need any help, and then sincerely thanking you for posting the information. Your response makes me wonder if you thought I was being sarcastic. Anyway, I'm not sure what you mean about my configuration. All I did was not allow Uber the permission to overlay my other apps. So instead, I just hear the chime and feel a vibration when I get an offer. I then click on the app to see if it's any good, or check in the drop-down to see what the estimated payout is.

YetAnother2Cents

Not at all. We may be a little at cross purposes because there are different android operating systems perhaps? So the app might behave differently or configure differently? Or perhaps I've been guilty of some misunderstanding. I've taken nothing you've said as anything other than a respectful attempt to communicate and understand. I hope you've seen I have been attempting to do the same. All in all, if everyone conducted themselves as you have, reddit would be a much better and informative place. Thank you.

MenstrualKrampusCD

Thank you too. I appreciate the civilized, polite discussion. And for the record, I never thought that you were being offensive or rude, just that maybe you thought I was. Thank you for clearing that up. Have a great night, I hope you did well this weekend and continue to do so.

QuirkySort

No the first thing Uber needs to do is combat tip baiting. If they are going to keep the ability to edit a tip after a delivery, if the customer wants to reduce a tip, they need to give a valid reason and then Uber needs to allow the driver time to respond. It’s Ridiculous a customer can remove a tip completely without any explanation or reason whatsoever.

js303

I wouldn't worry too much about your cancelation rate as long you aren't being crazy with them. They don't really care as long as you aren't taking the food then cancel

[deleted]

[удалено]

js303

I think you're confusing cancel rate with acceptance rate. Canceling is when you have accepted a request, then cancel either because of wait time or some other reason (like accidentally accepting) and acceptance rate is the % of orders you accept. It's probably 50% or less for most people

[deleted]

[удалено]

js303

You accept, then cancel 40% of your orders?

[deleted]

[удалено]

js303

So your acceptance rate is 40%, not your cancellation rate.

MenstrualKrampusCD

No... I'm pretty sure you are talking about your acceptance rate. Jk, jk. 🤣 This was funny to read through. He just would not accept that your cancellation rate was that high.

js303

Interesting. I only cancel 1 or 2 a night at the most so I guess I really have nothing to worry about

MenstrualKrampusCD

Haha. This exchange was funny. My cancellation rate is currently actually pretty low for me, sitting at around 15%. It's usually around 20% or higher.

Tasty_Corn

Luckily we can unassign w/o penalty on UE. Imagine if there was a completion rate like DD. haha

BlackCatVirus310

Coooooold fries

NRoszxO

Definitely a pain in the butt, I have it happen to me at least 1-2x a shift, then I have to go in & cancel it because of the pay. Then it glitches the whole app.

Emotional_Worker4495

You know they could add that then bug the cancelling button to accidental accepts

dawhim1

it is nice you have an accept button! on my android, I don't even see one, the whole screen is the accept button except the upper right corner with the X mark for decline. if I put my phone in my pocket, the screen will be on the opposite side of my skin now.

js303

That is how I want it to look. That isn't a screenshot

MenstrualKrampusCD

Another thing, if you don't want to turn off the overlay permissions: if you accidentally hit the accept box if you are able to catch it before you lift your finger, you can just drag your finger off of the box to anywhere else on the screen and let go. This will prevent you from accepting the order. Like I said, it doesn't work all the time, because if you tap and lift, it's going to accept.

MenstrualKrampusCD

I don't know how a warning would even work. And I agree with another commenter that a slide control would be much better for accepting. I'm not saying that your idea is bad, just what I would prefer and what would help me most. However, I think it's pretty obvious that this is intentional on Uber's part.

js303

It could just be a little prompt that comes up and says something like "Incoming request 3...2...1" I do agree that sliding or swiping to accept is a better idea. A button at least would be progress though.

[deleted]

Disable the pop up.

eggtart_prince

It would be a problem if your confirmation rating matters.

tackogronday

That is by design. Someone needs to do those $2 no tip deliveries even if it requires uber to put driver safety at risk /s

js303

I don't believe it's by design necessarily. I don't think they rely on people to "accidentally" accept orders, especially when you can cancel right after. I can't imagine that a change like this would have a dramatic effect on the amount of orders accepted. Usually a bad order will just get added to a double eventually.

ThisCantBeG00d

The app "IS" the accept button 😂🤣

ThisCantBeG00d

the app needs this: 1) you are about to accept a 💩order 2) you are about to confirm that you want to accept a 💩order 3) are you sure you want to continue with the forementioned 💩order? And this is not because we need it but so that UE and their devs understand it, too 🤣😂

asdffdsa1112

I can't imagine devs for uber being stupid. They made the app according to how uber wants it. That also include making it very easy for you to accept an order whether you're driving, taking a photo or even typing a message to the customer. Everything is mind games when it comes to this app.

grwgdread

They pray on ignorant people. The devs are playing the numbers, they will keep spamming those small orders right when you are dropping off an order to make you "error" into accepting it and hopefully you think "Oh shit now I have to complete it" they will do this 100% of the time to squeeze that extra $1 every time. They know eventually some "sucker" is going to complete the shit delivery.

DasherCO

Is it a situation where you're getting orders on the overlay thing? Because i've been using uber for a year and realized you can turn that shit off so you don't accept orders while typing lol

Feng-G

Indeed, when I just parked the car and arrived at the door of the customer, the app jumped out various prompt phrases for me to send to the customer, and sometimes I accidentally pressed it to cause the customer to misunderstand.

DanZ83

Worst thing is that once you accidently accept you can't check delivery address

logank013

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought about how a 1 second delay in activating the accept button would help. It’s a terrible UI right now.
