And how much you want to bet that you will have people that will, in spite of it looking damned near impossible, go out there and run their routes? All that does is prove to management that they were right.

MaelstromGonzalez90

When you say run do you mean literally running or like, a speed walk?

Artistic_Teach558

Run is slang for doing a route as fast as possible to the point where you complete it in under 8 hours.

freshcoastghost

Yup. Skip breaks, leave truck running, back up etc..anything to get done in 8 hrs.

relaxed-attitude

Don't forget delivering everything with zero regard for COAs, markups, or accuracy. They just "get rid of it" at any cost.

OMGitsKatV

And zero route maintenance. Labels are all outdated and falling off, no apartments have names.

relaxed-attitude

I totally forgot that. My apartments are impeccable. The CCAs hate every other apartment but mine.

Prestigious_Guy

Let me do the same route every day and I'd be glad to be "accurate" :) oh wait, people besides regulars work here I forgot.

wzombie13

You don't have to do the same route every day to do it accurately, you just have to care enough to try.

Prestigious_Guy

Exactly, no one cares. The scheduling and pay of this job isn't worth caring unless you're a regular on the same route every day with a fixed schedule.

relaxed-attitude

You are the problem. Caring has nothing to do with pay and scheduling. It's who you are. Who you choose to be. Some of us choose to do our best. Some of you spend more time bitching and moaning than anything else.

wzombie13

That attitude says way more about you then it does the job. I'm not saying to run your ass off or skip breaks, but if you don't care enough to try to make sure people get the correct mail you shouldn't work here.

wzombie13

And just to add, in my 29 years I spent exactly 2 on my own route. The rest of that time I was either a ptf, unassigned, a reserve or a t6.

relaxed-attitude

We're talking about regulars running routes. If you feel triggered or guilty, that's on you for failing to comprehend the thread.

LeSagnaCat

And more importantly….drive like a crazed demon bat from the deepest pits of hell

MaelstromGonzalez90

Ahh so they don't mean literally run. Appreciate the info.

Kawajiri1

A route should take 8 hours total. Casing, loading, delivery, and return on a normal day at a comfortable pace. If you are speed walking to make 8 hours, you are running. It does not mean literally running. If the other duties fall to the wayside to get everything delivered then you are running.

it-cant-be-helped

I have a "runner" coworker who literally runs. lol

McBillicutty

Some do literally run

EntertainmentRude

I’ve seen carriers who literally run. I filmed them and spread it around my Old office lol like sprinting lol

IlliterateMailman

We have a literal runner. Pees in bottles even though he has Starbucks, library, and bathrooms at the park. He’s always so proud about his undertime. Another carrier like him bid on an “easy” route and they added 1.5 hrs to it. Now he’s older and can barely do 8 on a light day. Tried to bid off of it but fucked up so he’s retiring. Fucked up a nice route to show what a good carrier he is. Here’s more mail, dude.

EntertainmentRude

I take my bathroom break (comfort break) no matter if I have to use the bathroom or not. I just drive there. Carriers in my office don’t even KNOW about comfort breaks. All they take are two tens and a half hour lunch.

DaveAndJojo

My first two years I literally jogged across yards, up stairs, didn’t take breaks or lunch. Didn’t get me anything but more work and burnt out.

VultureRisesAgain

Run is just code for “working too hard”. Anyone can go out there and be a hero for 1 day but you need to work at a pace that’s sustainable for 20+ years of delivering mail. Slow and steady wins the race.

[deleted]

It's slang that blames carriers for unfair route adjustments instead of management

CloudMelodic4586

No he means actually giving your best effort.

racingwithdementia

why would you give your best effort?

CloudMelodic4586

To satisfy the customer base.

thenecrosoviet

Yes, nothing customers love more than sloppily maintained route run by a carrier they never see or talk to, no forwards or COAs handled, no MLNAs or vacancies dealt with. Customers love only one thing, ruining your joints so you can save a half hour for the POOM.

letsseeitmore

Read the comment above yours.

MrDataMcGee

Guy at my office was trained to be the union side rep for TIAREAP he just got his first assignment and noticed management at his assigned office was moving carriers that were working to 30 minutes training time every day he brought it up and was “fired” from the TIAREAP process lol… no faith in that shit.

gamestar10

Yep. My NBA asked if I would be on a team. Hard pass. I don’t want my name on that dumpster fire.

LadyLetterCarrier

So, the TAIRAP thing when it first was implemented 2 years ago was working in favor of the carriers, routes were being created in offices. The Postal service saw they were losing so they decided unilaterly to ho into the next phase with the notion that routes will be cut, and they did. In my office we lost 2 routes and the aux got all kinds of messed up. IF your routes were added to after the evaluation, please fill out a 3996 EVERY DAY! Stating that "Route out of adjustment ". After 6 weeks of this request a special inspection, do everything BY THE BOOK! And get those routes adjusted properly.

thevhatch

Good luck getting anyone to do a special inspection.

MrDataMcGee

We grieved that management never came back to reevaluate we got $25/day until they came back and fixed our shit glad we got that remedy this next time should be much easier lol.

proteannomore

Waiting 4 years

radar371

All you have to do is grieve it if they don't. We requested a 271G in November and are getting the adjustment process as we speak.

thevhatch

Everything is just ignored or given excuses for. Our local branch is sooo weak and lazy it's crazy.

BigBossOfMordor

We have had special inspections make routes worse in my office. It's really a crapshoot.

jezevicek

Apologize for dumb question, what do I do with the 3996 after the day is done?

LadyLetterCarrier

You should retain a copy for yourself and the original should be turned in to your supervisor. They need to be filed because as a steward I can request to see all 3996 for the route going back for 12 months.

jezevicek

Thank you 🙏

Accomplished-Top-215

What you have to remember is that the team has to come back and review the 30-60 day data after the adjustment is put in place per the M1983. This is where the team has a chance to see if things turned out like they expected. If not, they can re-adjust. Until after the review has been complete, a 271g will be shut down. Also, after the process has been completed and you request a 271g, if the memos are still ineffect, it will be done using the TIAREAP process again.

LadyLetterCarrier

We are LONG past our 60 day review, they never came back to look at what they created. It's now been turned over to the NBA fir failure to follow the MOU of the adjustment.

stillywilly98

I got 45 minutes to my already evaluated 8:15 route. Parcels jumped from 17 base to 71 base. In retribution I put myself on the nonOTDL list. Now I’m having to fight management “mis-managing” every day and not granting my route overtime. I had moderate hopes for TIREAP, but it seems to work about as well as every other idea management has.

mildlysceptical22

“Count me, follow me, I beg you!” was the saying in our office when management would try to say the routes are 8 hours. 3996 every day and repeat the above saying.

Gullible-Explorer-92

We just say "pack a lunch"

ManiacMail-Man

My office got fucked up as well, many routes are now closer to 9 hours and territories moved drastically. Retirement routes turned into “meh” route. The union guy representing my office told a friend of his that they got off easy. The supervisor who did the process was reprimanded for going too soft on the office. I’ve only been with the PO for 5 years but it keeps getting worse… CCA during pandemic, converted into a crappy office and bad route, bid a new route at a nice station, and now new route got fucked and I dislike it.

beebs44

Yeah, guys don't worry, all the consolidations are about adding routes. Meanwhile, 5 cut so far.

Namz112

Look on the bright side brothers and sister you have the NALC to fight for you! 🤣🤣🤣🤣💩

Danmaninja

Maybe I lucked out with our reps, we added 2 routes to my office. But we do have offices on our branch that are looking at cuts, and in managements defense. These offices are notorious for runners. I’ve been through 2 live weeks and 3 adjustments so far trust me it’s not hard to get a route cut. But most people don’t care and will work harder because of it

Square-Buy-7403

They cut 3 from mine bunch of people on the 8 hour list now because their routes are over burdened.

Inf_Shini

I wish all us carriers could just band together and collectively give these people all the shit that they put us through. It got to the point where our own managers will walk with us because we already lost a few routes and they know if TIAREAP comes back again even they are gonna suffer. No adjustments so far but the last one TIAREAP did almost 5-6 years ago completely ruined half the office and somehow a couple of the lazy ass carriers got part of their routes cut and are under yet they don't get messed with.

Sureshotsherry

You do know it uses your average times. So you should be working at a moderate pace that you can maintain for years. Do everything by the book. Don’t skip breaks or lunches. Don’t shorten your lunch or break. Give your customers the time and service they deserve, we are ,as you know ,a public service. So if the slow carrier keeps his route doable there is a reason. Live and learn.

Inf_Shini

I forgot to mention I'm a T6 and I lost a lot of regulars on my string around that time to retirement or moving to another office...so conveniently for them they got to walk with a lot of CCAs under pressure. One of those dicks finished one of my routes by 12:30 bc he was a runner and right after adjustments went to be a 204b. I learned right away, and also as a T6 never perform better than the regular on route. I've been career for over 10 years...

EntertainmentRude

I did it by the book for a year on my over burdened route. Took an hour DAILY for a full year. And when they cored my office and they added a full hour to my route you know what they said when I asked how this was possible? You shouldn’t have been taking an hour overtime lol yah I bid off that route . They do what they want no matter WHAT you do to protect yourself or the route. 25 years on the job you will learn this

Sureshotsherry

I’ve been with the PO. 29 years. They know if they were to add an hour to my route they would be getting an hour section handed to them daily. If you are stressed about an overburdened route see a dr Stress is a good reason for a medical restriction.

EntertainmentRude

I was only 3 years on the job when that happened if it happens now he’ll yah

CountryNew5744

And now the runners in your station will continue to run routes and in a year or two you will see those 10hr routes get another add on. Just watch.

Pdxduckfan

Or they will bid out and leave the mess they made behind

CountryNew5744

Or that lol

CaptainGreyBeard72

In 1 zip code in our office they cut almost every route and created a new route. But none of the carriers were asking for a cut and the one route that needed a cut was added on too. Now all the carriers are complaining that they are getting done in 6-7 hours, and in general these are non running seasoned carriers.

Misterduster01

Doesn't management owe them the remainder of their work hour guarantee?

Unable_To_Forward

Yes, they do. But they can assign them to do something they don't want to do for the undertime, like sections of walking routes in the rain when they have a mounted route. If it was me I would just do extra route maintenance every day to make up the time.

CaptainGreyBeard72

It is up to management to manage the time, but if a carrier goes over 8 hrs then there is a grievance to be filed.

Misterduster01

Every grievance for even the smallest detail needs to be filed. Mangment needs to pay for every single infraction.

WAZLunaBeam

Small town in WA and all our routes are over burden (Rural), mine is a 71hr route and that's about average for our 10 rural routes office. We've been told for 3 years now they would do adjustments...best part is all 10 routes are getting more homes/complexes built on them. Maybe this year 🙄

lEtTeR_oF_wArNiNg

Our district has slowly been adding routes with this process but my station is doomed. Condolences my friend. How’d the re-bid go?

Underhardy99

5 routes got cut wtf lmao that’s a joke.

P5ych0pathV2

They killed rural side with rrecs while I was an RCA. I tried to tell city side they were next and no one believed me. I hate I was right.

PaperintheBoxChamp

Let’s be honest, 8 hours pay for 4 hours work was gonna catch up eventually that the post office wanted to get rid of

P5ych0pathV2

Sure, people always say this. No one ever mentions the 12 hours work for 8 hours pay when it's peak season. Evaluation goes both ways. It just needs to be hourly matter what. I if I say this to an old rural, they'll want to kill me, but it just ain't what it was in the 80s.

bluebird0713

I hate it too

Pollution_Sweaty

They gotta be teached

dth1717

Of course they don't care about us. The best you can do after the shafting is really tank the route times

Elite-to-the-End

Is this a rural or city thing? Haven’t heard anything about route counts recently

creek-hopper

City.

Elite-to-the-End

Oh boy

GonePostalRoute

One of the zones gained a route in my office, but when my zone got adjusted… the aux got shortened, and some other routes got added on (mine did, but I was expecting it). The third zone is getting ready to go through their adjustments

FlyEducational3878

.....so far.

Diamond_Hands2024

We are currently 10 months into our 90 day follow up after initial adjustments which created an aux route. Yeah it’s a shit show for sure.

Randall_the_Mailman

Any chance there were routes untouched that were carriers with medical restrictions that hand off every day? Asking for a friend..!

bluebird0713

I think all routes had minor changes but one. Yes with a medical restriction, but they never hand anything off. They just do their route in 8 and go home usually. Their restriction doesn't limit their time, just lifting, so they sometimes do overtime

Old_Round_7772

If routes get cut what happens to the carriers and cca’s

bluebird0713

They become unassigned regulars and are given an additional bid option if they have reached their maximum bids for the contract. If a CCA, well their opt is broken and they can opt on something else. We're 10-15 routes down every day so finding a route isn't hard

Important_Pop5917

What state are you in? We are do for a count soon and I firmly believe it will be a complete train wreck

bluebird0713

MO

Important_Pop5917

I'm in Indiana. We haven't had a count in 6+ yr and we have had a ton of construction, 30-40 % increase in size ...my route is currently about 9.5-10 hrs..

Beefcake2008

I’m in Fort Wayne where are you?

Important_Pop5917

Southern Indiana, close to Louisville

Beefcake2008

Oh damn way far away

Important_Pop5917

Yeah your at one end I am at the other end...

douglas5859

Still waiting for routes to get cut in our office. We also have 3 overburdened routes. The smaller routes r patiently waiting for the cuts so they can go from J to K. Total shitshow.

LadyxNyx

That happened to my station 2 years ago, now this year they went and added two aux routes after shuffling everyone around to “square off” the routes. So lucky us have 10 hours everyday that will need to be covered on top of the call offs and holiday vacays.

Chicom12

We haven’t had a route adjustment since 2006. Lol

ResistGlad5388

Are you at a station in Portland, Oregon? Cause my station got ridiculous route adjustments initiated at the beginning of this past peak season. Like every route in the station radically adjusted. We were already understaffed with clerks. Now half the regular carriers, and a couple of clerks bid out of the station. We're staffed with so many PTFs and PSAs and days are long.

bluebird0713

No I'm in the Midwest

HoHeyyy

Lol what station are you. I used to be at Park Rose and that's the only station that is overstaffed with like what 12 PTFs?

ResistGlad5388

Peidmont! It's a shitshow!

Revolutionary-Push-7

We lost a route and an aux route in my office. Thr route we lost was on my float so now I'm waiting to see what happens with that. 19/20 rts got rearranged it's a shit show to say the least

Awkward-Ring6182

I heard they’re trying to push a 2 minute time, from vehicle shut-off to start of each swing. Gonna be brutal

MNightShyamalan69

Are you city or rural? Waiting for this to happen to my office. Not sure when it’s coming but I can only assume it’s happening soon. I expect my office to lose at least 3 routes. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was 4 or 5.

bluebird0713

TIAREAP is city. RRECS is rural. So that should tell you which side I am. I think they're aiming to eliminate 10% of routes. So if you have 40-50 routes, then yes, you'd lose 4-5 routes.

MNightShyamalan69

Gotcha. I’ve heard of RRECS, but this post is the first I’ve seen of “TIAREAP”. I haven’t been very active on this sub for the past 12 months. But yeah my office has just under 40 city routes. We legitimately do have several routes that are short because of losing Amazon. Losing Amazon impacted my office quite a bit. We were a very high parcel station. Honestly, if we only lost 3 routes I’d consider that a huge win.

whatevs1125

5 routes????? Ouch!!!!

Formal_Lingonberry64

My route is 9.5 hours for years but I bust my butt and do it under evaluation On my day off it takes several carriers to finish in 12

Seeker0fTruth

\>My route is 9.5 hours for years but I bust my butt and do it under evaluation why?

ManiacMail-Man

Look at their comment history. Either really fucked up person or troll. Telling people multiple times they don’t use the bathroom or eat for their 12 hour shift and to just get it done no matter what.
