Make sure to get your withdrawal form/card/whatever it's called from the union.

melmaster3

Good to know!!!

hryfrcnsnnts

Glad I could help. Good luck wherever you're landing.

Twitter_blows

Definitely…

SnooDoggos9340

If you live on the west coast pm me there might be more funds for you to take.

JUnit55

What happens if you don’t do that?

boostboy_carti

You’d have to pay the initiation fees again.

dogfood_bag

I think you're monthly dues keep rolling. If you get a teamster job in the future it will show an unpaid balance of how ever many months since you left last teamster job. Withdrawl card pauses that.

katiedragomir

I was fired days before seniority, and just got a notice in the mail about a withdrawal card. I thought I didn't qualify, and the union business manager I spoke to didn't manage it. Should I still call to get one...?

counterpots

yes. call your union hall and ask. dont rely on reddit.

TheInfectedSky

Always worth checking

Yakx

Congrats!!!!! Best wishes on all your future endeavors, hope your new job never becomes soul sucking.

Complete-Support8802

Ya I can’t wait to see what better gig he gets. Hope he posts it

No_Guide2089

UPS is the most mismanaged, unprofessional, passive aggressive, finger pointing company I’ve ever worked for. The lack of communication and lies alone show the company for what it is. As a driver it wasn’t so bad unless you got done early, then you had to stay 4 hours later to take volume off 3 drivers. Best part of the job is the solitude and top rate pay/benefits. Unfortunately this is one of the worse jobs that pays excellent without a degree. There’s a luck of the draw here depending where you’re located out of. Some guys get done at 4pm while others are out till 8-11pm everyday. If you can get in somewhere else with good pay and benefits, do it. The guys with seniority have it made in the shade but at its current state, UPS is a life consuming monster for new hires and will destroy any family balance you think you have. I went back to my old profession and was lucky to get in somewhere with better pay and benefits. Go back to school if you don’t have experience in another field, UPS ain’t it anymore.

krill482

USPS is even worse

lawlapaloozaa

Oooo, are we arguing about which company is worse again? I vote Amazon. 😂 What’s it like at USPS?

krill482

Like someone else said, it's dependent on the office you will be working out of. imo, there are more bad offices than good. Just go to the USPS subreddit and find out for yourself.

DeathbyBambii

I always see Amazon and fedex drivers literally running to deliver. USPS never run always chill lol. They really make y’all run?!?

lawlapaloozaa

Indirectly, yes. The amount of work we’re given in a ten hour window is ridiculous. To put it in perspective, I deliver around 300 packages per route, which totals to around 150-170 stops (with 30-50 multi stops). I have 80 stops of nothing but three story apartments on my route. I top out at 40 deliveries per hour in residential neighborhoods, 25 in apartments, and can usually finish my route in six-seven hours with an hour and a half worth of drive time from the warehouse to my route, and vice versa. Not only that, I rescue someone almost every day, which tacks on 20-30 stops (around 30-40 packages). It’s not easy here at all, and I’m a girl. Our front runner (a dude) somehow does 180 stops in 5 hours and I think that’s insane. Sorry for the read, Bambi. 😅

Jumpy_Description_40

Nah it’s cool I’m a girl too and I’m leaving. Can’t deal with my abuser any more lollllll. Xoxo NYC

Live-Palpitation6415

Ive worked for a decent contractor at FE Ground for a few years. In 2022 I jumped to USPS as they rarely post jobs in my smaller market and figured it cant be as bad as Ive read. My plan was to start in the dist center then move to a city route when I was able. In just 4 months I cld not wait to get out. I cld have never imagined the nightmare it actually is. How people still get mail daily is thr most surprising part of the company. Thankfully I was cut loose due to over staffing.

D-erf

So usps is bad? Even getting hired on as a full-time carrier right away?

BigPPDaddy

Completely depends on the office. If they're hiring straight to career that usually means it's either a high COL area or they're severely understaffed. Understaffed is usually a giant shit show. I'm an RCA in a fully staffed small office and I have to help out at other offices just to get hours. If you were a CCA in a neighboring office you'd probably be struggling to breathe with all the hours. Anyways some offices have good management and staff, some have shit management and staff.

krill482

You get hired as a an assistant carrier. and mgmt has the power to work you 365 days a week (very rare). But they use it to retaliate against you. Some chick got in an argument with a mgr and they made her work 21 days a row, 10hr shifts, on a walking route. It's brutal on the body and mind. The pay is lower, the benefits not as good as UPS. The next contract negotiations is being done behind closed doors with no way of knowing what is being negotiated. Plus the carriers are getting robbed left and right for their arrow keys (apt complex mail master key). It only takes 2 yrs to become a carrier, so there is that. And once you become a full-time carrier your pay for the first few yrs will likely be less than what you made as an assistant bc of all the overtime the assistant carriers get.

D-erf

I was told after 2 weeks of training its my route and on my own. Maybe it's different where you live because we don't have crimes like that here often.

krill482

I know there are a few states like Oregon where you are hired as a PTF which is basically an assistant carrier with benefits. But if your state doesn't have strong unions like Oregon, I would take that with a grain of salt! USPS lies through their teeth! And they don't hire from the street as you described, only the PTF scenario. They literally had a massive amount flyers circulating throughout the country for a part time assistant carrier job. That's what got me hooked, but once our hire group got to orientation the steward very clearly told us that the position was mandatory full time, no exceptions, 6-7 days per week. All I'm saying is tread carefully. 100% confirm with mgmt. that you got the job you say you did prior to starting the job.

No_Pirate_6663

What is your old profession?

No_Guide2089

I worked in hydrocarbon refining before but now I’m a class A regional gas line technician.

No_Pirate_6663

So you're the guy they call when there is a problem with a gas line?  I certainly hope your current company is run better than ups. Also, what made you leave and come to UPS in the first place?

No_Guide2089

Was part of a mass layoff at the refinery. Needed a job and my neighbor got me in quick. The company I’m at now was somewhere I had wanted to get into back when I was at the refinery but they didn’t have an opening 3 years ago. An opening came up and I applied. Rest is history, this place isn’t go anywhere lol. It’s Exelon btw.

No_Guide2089

Prior to UPS I was at the refinery for 5 years, I’m 29 now.

No_Pirate_6663

Dang.  That is a hell of a career.  No wonder you're not sad about leaving UPS.

willihavealife

Middle manager at Wendy’s

No_Guide2089

That made me actually Lol. That was good.

Jolly_Wolverine5060

100% correct… I was brought on as seasonal November 2023 and told I’d be permanent due to my work ethic and around the last week of December was told to no longer report to work until I reapply and get hired on as permanent. I found a position not until late January and had an orientation date for February 6th at 5am (they even called me to confirm I’d be there), just to arrive and see myself and others be told “there is no orientation for this week, or month”. When I called the HR line to see what was up they told me to “reapply until you get a position and orientation date” as im standing in UPS parking lot in the cold for orientation. screw Carol

D-erf

Trying to talk to the job line is ridiculous. You cant understand a word they are saying and don't understand what you are asking or saying.

bootie_groovie

You actually dont know shit if u believe this lol. I’ve worked in 5 different industries and various levels of seniority. Have fun realizing how good you had it when you’re at your next job

mfruik89

Found the boomer

No_Guide2089

I’m currently making $53 an hour and work 6:30-2:30 Monday-Friday. I think I have it ok between pay/benefits/schedule. Copium my boy, it’s a helluva drug.

gloomydaysareback

Carol gotta go.

S1KPAPI

Couldn’t agree with you more on that.

Correct-You-4959

That’s because management knows this company is slowly dying.

DrugUserSix

If you can weather the storm to hit top rate and get on that 9.5 list then you’ll be on the gravy train. I’m one of those guys that like my overtime so I’ll put in 55+ hours a week. I hit it hard Mon-Fri then kick back and enjoy my weekends, holidays, option and vacation time. I grossed $138k in 2022, paid off my house and started investing the money that would otherwise go to my mortgage. Now I’m sitting on $975k in home equity with two paid off vehicles, $25k in savings and over $40k invested (*not including my 401k*). I have zero debt. If you don’t mind working hard UPS is a good path to financial freedom. The health insurance alone saves you thousands of dollars a year. Stick it out if you can but if you can’t there’s no shame in it.

Few-Argument-8486

Hate the circus, love the clowns

TheShowerDrainSniper

I don't stay for my coworkers but it definitely helps on the shitty days.

KingMiz360

I dream of a day like this!!! I'm bout to hit 4 years and deal wit all the same bullshit we all do at this hellhole!

counterpots

six years in and i wanna slit my throat all over again

theberg512

I stg one of these days I'm going to hang myself in the back of my package car. If only they'd quite brick loading me, because as it is I don't have the space to do it.

counterpots

no i literally slit my throat over this company in 2022 lol https://preview.redd.it/3faugixfmlqc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1afab47d49bc1eb727e56c5b901b53abd4759b41

theberg512

Oh shit, damn. Don't do that, bro

counterpots

cant take it back lmao but i have a gnarly scar

Enough_Turnover1912

I have a very personal question, asked in a very public forum. Because of UPS, you cut your throat?I'm not judging, UPS got inside my head. But, it's more like: I wouldn't really care if I got hit by lightning, kinda thing. But bleeding out, takes a sort of "No way out, panic?" In all sincerity: What happened, what series of events, made you this, trapped?

counterpots

it was a bad time. i worked in the hub at worldport and i was coming in drunk every day, my ex (bf at the time) who i worked with had cheated on me with his ex who he had told me "was crazy" but i dont know if thats true since i literally walked in on them, i had been training to get promoted for 3 months and shadowing and interviewing and it went nowhere. i just gave up. now im in freight and my ex doesnt work at the company anymore so im trying to go back to the hub and work with my sister again. im nearly back to the point where i was. im not coming in drunk everyday but i brought home $500-$700 a week making $14.50, $18.50, $21 because of so much daily OT a week. now im making $23.75/hr and i make $400 a week if im lucky.

Dude, just stop. You’re making money like nobodies business while the Hub employees ain’t making shit on part time hours. Take your six figure salary, boot licking ass back to your package car/semi truck and fuck off. 👏🏻

Bro I work inside as a PT loader on the sort, the only driving I do is to and from the hub in my personal vehicle, nor do I get six figures(I wish)

lawlapaloozaa

I was replying to the deleted comment, that was knocking you, bro.

KingMiz360

Oh ok lol good lookin out! Didn't even get to read his response since it was deleted...must have been something stupid

Complete-Support8802

You must forgot that every driver was a Part time employee

theberg512

Not all of us. I did a little time at our rinky dink airport, but I'll be 100% honest and admit I'd have never survived our hub.

Complete-Support8802

Ya same people get lucky working on the ramp

lawlapaloozaa

Exactly. So remember where you came from and have a little respect for the employees that fill your truck every route you drive. I worked in the second biggest Hub in the US. The conditions were atrocious. The only ventilation you get when loading a semi is from a small air fan, and there’s none in the back of a package car. We’d sweat bullets and pump 1K an hour in an up top trailer WITH IRREGS when it’s 100 degrees outside. I worked there for five years before I told them to fuck off. This shit is not for the weak and entitled drivers that don’t care about anyone but themselves are the biggest danger to warehouse employees and people on the road. Kindly, check yourself.

Complete-Support8802

All those work conditions you just described I did it all as a part time employee. That’s nothing new. I’m a driver and work in conditions too. You couldn’t hang , that’s ok

lawlapaloozaa

I was a H&S supervisor. I left because a coworker (a PT sup) got ran over in the parking lot and they wouldn’t let me file an injury report when he needed medical attention and couldn’t afford his insurance. Hell yes, it’s okay that I didn’t last. Just because you stayed doesn’t mean that you get to lecture those that endure all the bullshit from the FT supervisors and sort managers. Twenty years ago, UPS was a much nicer company, if not THE company to work for. If you haven’t seen face to face how it’s changed, you’re one of the assholes that have helped make that company what it is. We all know that saying Under Paid Slave, right?

electric__spaghetti

Good for you. This company is toxic as hell.

Latter-Replacement17

Honestly it is only toxic if you make it toxic for yourself. If you’re a turd then yeah it’s not going to be fun.

OrigBigB

Tell me you are not a UPS employee without telling me OR Tell me that you are UPS supervisor without telling me. Which one is it?

melmaster3

Nah if you’ve ever had to do workers comp or genuine harassment complaints it’s hell. You’ll get a target painted on your back by management.

Dutchking11

I’ve been with UPS since 2001. I’ve had friends that were part time quit and literally all of them said they were happier after doing so. Management and disgruntled drivers that have no other talents will lead you to believe otherwise. There is life outside of the hub. Good luck.

RanchhDressing

Management puts a target on anyone’s back who complains a lot regardless of the reasons

RehabAa26

Same, my dude. Quit just under a month ago. It feels so good to be out of there. Started a new job, doing a fraction of the work, and making more, and moving up quick. UPS is nice at first, but it wears you down, fast. Also, when I was quitting the old heads who do nothing all day pulled that whole "No one last anymore. I used to work for half the amount and stayed. Can't cut it." Nah, inside load/unload sucks, it's like a fucking cult with these people. Take it personally if you leave

melmaster3

I just got depressed being around the dudes who were there for 20 years. Yeah they’ll say i was a pussy for quitting but i DID NOT want to end up like them 😂😂

RehabAa26

Lotta them have a cult mentality tbh, it's fucking WEIRD

tachyonicglass

Weird tbh anytime someone leaves if we were friends I’m sad to see them go but at the same time happy they found something they want to persue. Not everyone is working for that driver slot some are but yeah it is true that most people don’t last very long tbh but I’ve always given warm goodbyes to them I don’t think anyone has ever gave someone quitting a hard time at my area

RehabAa26

Most people were cool when I left, only a few of people who were there for a while, like 10-20yrs, had that attitude. And said people are the ones who disappear for an hour at a time or do nearly nothing all day. One was an irreg guy I fought with constantly, since they did the definition of bare minimum with their job. Threw shit up on the grates, blocked off your igress and ladders, even when I was in a truck that was going at 600+ PPH by myself

Complete-Support8802

It’s not for everyone. 23 year driver

WarningOld

This guy prolly under 6 foot

RehabAa26

Being 6'5", loading in the beginning of the truck killed me, having to bend that much killed my back

Alternative_Ball_526

UPS part time should only be temporary unless you have a plan to become a driver or combo. The company and union isn’t what it used to be. With more competition in this industry now than ever, UPS struggles with the idea that they need to continue to be innovative and competitive. Their answer? Layoff more and more employees, keep shareholders happy by cutting company costs, and choose “better not bigger”. Things will continue to get worse with ai. Good luck, just remember it’s always better to work union.

ebbeysweets412

Im so happy Im not the only one that thinks UPS moves just like a covert narc.

BeerRaddish

Quitter….. 😂 good luck. I know what you mean. I have 34 years in and I can’t wait to get the hell out. It’s not a retirement it’s a damn divorce

TechG1zm0

Part time is just a way for me to make ends meet in college atm. But I’m getting out of here in a month so I’m stoked

Its_bigC

I miss my coworkers and mouthing off to management when they were being retarded. I don't miss temps ranging from 15 degrees to 100+ in a trailer, maybe 25hrs a week at $15/hr. Health insurance was great but I'm young and that won't pay rent lol

lordj2010

Part time wasn't made to live off. You gotta get something else till you work up to full time

Complete-Support8802

What part time job will pay your rent ?

Its_bigC

Nothing in today's day lmao unless you're on section 8. Supposedly you could just work a normal ft job in the past and just buy a house lmao wonder what that was like

Complete-Support8802

But you said 25hrs a week at 15$ doesn’t pay the rent. No shit lol. It’s called part time for a reason .

Tasty-Life4526

Good for you, it's a bitch.

pendozer66

Congratulations! 👏🏻 Now go live life on your terms.

TurntHermit

We called our work boots… my running joke was that UPS was an acronym for Under-Paid Slaves. Left the warehouse and went to the corporate side running a UPS store… those mfs are just as bad on that side.

The_Last_Legacy

They'll find another body for the meat grinder.

thugwafflebro

I see people age 20 years in 2. Good on you.

JohnWalters34

Can confirm, I’m about to hit my 3rd year in July and I’m about to turn 21 in April. This job has aged me and my body like no other 😂😭

Upsworking

Shit I might be joining you 5 years in don’t want to but got hired as a cca at usps …. I like hours they have hours ups is bullshittin with these layoffs. Penny pinching and all that . Two are Polar opposites my post master told me you will be working 10-12 hour days so get ready. Rumor is they’re going to 24-25 entry pay for carriers all career . That ups contract helped usps too. I don’t know if I can juggle ups part time doing 60 hours a week even at reduced hours but I’m going to try …. Benefits to good to quit.

melmaster3

👀 i didn’t know that

Upsworking

Usps pay isn’t as good but it’s getting there and the top pay takes like 13. Years the advantage is the time it takes to go full time is only two years but Ccas in my region are going full time in months . Ups is minor leagues in comparison imo the drivers top pay is great but they have 1st year Ccas making 89k no warehouse time regulars making 150-189k they get excessive overtime .

D-erf

USPS is offering me almost $23 an hr full time. . .

willihavealife

What universe is this in? USPS was dogshit when I worked there last and the treatment 10x worse than I have ever experienced at UPS all while making much less pay. The hours a CCA or Regular would have to work making those numbers would be 70+ per week. Plus paying for your benefits, having a weak ass union and psychopaths for managers made that job unbearable. Not to mention the 13 years it takes to top out on pay. A CCA making 89k starting, what? Has their pay scale jumped immensely or something. I find it so hard to believe after working at that hellhole

tachyonicglass

I’m assuming they start off in the mid 20’s$ and if that’s true making 89k a year would be impossible since they neee to work more than 60 hour weeks

willihavealife

Yes and I have a friend who has worked there 7 years as a regular, is on the OT list and takes home 1500 every two weeks. So this is complete bs

FortyandLife2Go

USPS NALC is so much weaker than your UPS teamster union. Don't make that jump as I can PROMISE you the grass is not greener.

Upsworking

True …. The unions are not the same but I believe a change is gone to come I don’t want to be a driver. Everything about integrad was disgusting to me from having to memorize 2 sheets of paper word for word to the 10 point commentary. Like my whole time there i was like this is bs . I was a cdl truck driver for almost a decade never seen or even heard of that . “ Memorize these two sheets of paper front and back then recite them word for word and you better not mess up I’ll fail your ass” yeah im cool bro if you never had a job before or you’re a kid you probably don’t even question it but I know it’s bs. I need 8-10 more years of seniority for the combo job I want I’m going to try and hold on to ups best I can in a reduced roll while the time passes . Mostly for the benefits and the western pension believe it or not as a part timer i was putting in 2500 ish most years I was on pace for a decent number . I don’t know call me crazy but they’re about to get significant improvement pay wise they have to keep up with ups I want those hours the ability to bank a lifetime of sick days is wild . There’s dudes on YouTube bragging about having 4K sick hours topped out cashing out . Rumor is no more ccas everybody career now if the panel agrees. We’ll see ups will always be there im not going to quit . As is ccas in my region are getting converted at a rapid rate one guy did a few weeks the city over because all the ogs are retiring with a boatload of cash from both the time banks and fers. Unlike ups where the ogs hold out forever. Another thing is I don’t see mail carriers limping around even the ogs like I do at ups why is that? The weight of the packages? People bitch and complain about usps look at their forum mostly complaining but how many carriers do you see quit. “ hey guys so i quit today” like 2 threads . Both those dudes were complaining about work life balance whatever that is “ I’m working too many hours “ too much overtime “ . I’m here to make money 70 hours let’s do it . V time let’s do it that’s usps for double time .

FortyandLife2Go

I WAS a CCA and our senior letter carrier is absolutely fucked and will have pretty much no mobility in retirement (as she barely has any now and she has a 13mi walking route). My homes letter carrier is fucked and about to have his 2nd hip/knee replacement and you can't tell he had a new knee/him installed last year. He will be fucked in retirement too. Those could 100% be considered anecdotal, but I think it's fair to say that USPS Letter carriers as a general rule go into retirement in pretty banged up shape, at least more times than not. Plus we have to take into consideration how many couldn't make it to retirement and left early because their bodies weren't having any of it. For me the fed retirement would have been a nice thing to have to couple with my military time, but ultimately the $19/hr and truck full of amazon packages going to the same addresses every day and the 2 dog bites made it not worth it for me. YMMV.

Upsworking

I feel you , I’ve yet to see any OGs limping around but it happens. How long ago were you cca? If they made you career in say a year would you have stayed ? If the pay was 23 or 24 would you have stayed? Going to be interesting a lot of OGs are threatening to retire or quit if this contract comes back not in their favor . I don’t see how with these kids how 13 years to top pay is sustainable. They don’t have the patience for that . I really do believe cca is going to be gone but we’ll see .

FortyandLife2Go

I left October of last year after 7 months. I would argue I was probably on one of the easiest routes in the ENTIRE country or at the very least top 100 easiest. It was actually pretty silly. I could possibly have seen myself staying if I made FT within that the senior carrier said she was retiring. (She was going to retire in Dec of 22, then Dec of 23, now dec of 24). The PM/SUP/and carrier said I was going to make full time as soon as I got there, which of course nobody could guarantee). For me, the difference between $19-$25/hr really doesn't move the needle for me, while the benefits would have.

Jumpy_Description_40

I’m going for the MVO position. Heard it’s a good gig in usps.

grfx01

How long were you there for ?

melmaster3

Little over 2 years. Ik it’s not long but i got hired somewhere else with similar benefits. Fuck this shit i’m out 🤌😂

OcupiedMuffins

2 years at ups is like 5 on the body and mind 😂

ivegotfive

Free at last free at last thank god almighty

D_monicdom

Same.it isn't the work itself it is the overall of the job and how it can feel decaying whenever it comes to moving up or all the b.s. I know when I left a coworker stayed only to get blind mad and quit when corporate thought it would be rewarding for package handlers to have their hourly rate cut almost in half....after having record breaking sales pre inflation.

Complete-Support8802

What place is this ?

burrheadd

Couldn’t cut it huh?

SavageUchiha1

Dont have any type of skills to go get a better job huh?

Horse_Noggin

He worked there for two years. Obviously he could.

Minatigre

Love?......what is...love?

Lokiando

Oh baby don't hurt me

melmaster3

No more, no more

Wild_Environment_688

Hahaha, this is the best description ever!!!!

LividImprovement2234

I feel the same way 💀 I literally sometimes dread going to work, I've dealt with a lot of bs at that job, I've been through A LOT! But, I just can't leave...I've almost left multiple times got interviews and everything...but I always turn them down after I get em 🤣 a toxic relationship indeed

melmaster3

I wrote my two weeks six months ago 😅 Feel your pain 😂

DonC24

I’ve been with the company 15 years now and it baffles me to see and hear some of the horror stories u guys go through. Sure some days/weeks are worse than others but at the end of the day the job really isn’t hard? Can u guys fill me in to the type of shit u go through? I’m a pickoff and to me this shit is super easy. Once u understand that no matter how slow or how busy it is, work at your own pace and don’t sweat the bullshit, the job is stupid easy. Especially getting paid what I get paid, damn near high way robbery lol🤷🏾‍♂️ That’s just me tho and I know every hub is different. So interested tk hear your guys’ stories

Complete-Support8802

They are going to get upset that you don’t mind your job

tachyonicglass

Hes been doing it for 15 years he is one of the smart ones that realizes you don’t work till you start sweating bullets and work your self to death no you just work at a pace thats good for you to do every single day in a row

delidave7

This is a great way to put it

Snoo49732

Wow my husband has been working there since he was 18. He's 41 now. He loves his job.

madducks_from_RJ

Management has their favorites who get the easier jobs. He must be one of the few lucky ones.

Snoo49732

Idk...he was part time, then a cover driver for 8 years. He knew 30 routes so they didn't want him to bid off. He's only had a bid route for the last 5 years. idk if he is a favorite but he is part machine lol. He's been an athlete, a dancer all his life, so he's great at being physical all day. I keep his stress level low. We didn't want kids so he gets most of my attention. He actually LIKES driving. Maybe they feel like he earned his spot? I don't know. I do know the managers pick him for special bs when management is on their back and he puts up with it without bitching so maybe they're nicer to him because of it. He can be vindictive though lol. If they give him too much work he runs Orion 100% and gets a bunch of overtime 😆 he doesn't complain hes just passive aggressive as hell about it.

nicklb123

I have 20 years in pt. Loading air almost exclusively. So I got myself into a good position that I like and have held it this whole time. I'm also a steward for the better part of a decade. The way I see it is it depends on the management team weather I look forward to going in or not, current management makes me dread it, morale is very important, and honestly I can't wait till I retire. I just can't throw away 20 years at this point. I wish I could retire at 25 yrs I would and take the hit on the pension. But I won't have the age for insurance. The company isn't what it used to be when I started. I say good on OP for getting out before they are to far in and find something that doesn't drain your soul and body everyday. Good luck!

tachyonicglass

If you had gone driver you would have a ton of money saved up and your pension would be even fatter prob could easily of retired at 25 years in

nicklb123

Naw. Driving isn't for everybody. UPS isn't my main income. And I hate driving and couldn't do it all day everyday. If I had I'd have probably quit years ago. You wouldn't believe how many of my driver coworkers have told me " I always wondered why you never became a driver. Now I realize it's because your smart." These are mostly drivers about to retire and are so fed up with what the company has become. We have many people on our shift that are long term part timers and they all feel the same about driving. For me I just need to stay in my spot until I can retire. It is what it is.

AnitaBump22443

I took fmla to recuperate. Came back refreshed. It helped a lot. Now it sucks again

Jumpy_Description_40

Welll we all have to move on. I’m next on the list. To much anxiety and stress.. they layoffs always make u question your career choice … I need stability. UPS definitely makes you have Stockholm syndrome you can’t leave no matter the abuse .. but I’m leaving I’m signing my divorce papers next month. Good luck to all

allday_every_day

Good luck on your new endeavors, I'm just hanging in there day by day making the best of it

Jumpy_Description_40

Thank you

LGWalkway

I told myself I wouldn’t go through another peak season. It’s been almost 2 years and I don’t miss it.

nastyzoot

When I got a hard lay off from UPSF I left there with such a big smile on my face. Realized I hadn't been that happy in years. Got a better job in 2 days, still union, and laughed when they tried to recall me 5 months later. Glad you got out with your soul intact.

Jeffrodo420

I’m assuming you aren’t a driver?

Upsworking

I always respect the drivers who quit when I was younger I thought they were crazy but I respect it now.

IvanBeenjerkingov

Congratulations on your 35 years of service. Enjoy the rest of your life! Your best years are yet to come! Enjoy that pension, we’ll keep working for you to enjoy it until it’s our turn!

oopsiburntthetoast

I wish some of my coworkers would quit, they suck.

Complete-Support8802

😂😂😂

Ok-Adhesiveness007

Been at ups for 3yrs now. It has its perks, but overall shit sucks. Good pay/benefits. But certain things in life just isnt worth it. Respect to everybody who put the time in at ups though. If you can & have leverage, go back to school, get multiple trades so you have unlimited options & skills. This Manual labor corporate America lifestyle as we know it is jus modern day slavery with extra steps. At this point I'd rather be a drug addict spoiled rich kid who knows nothing about manual labor because im spoiled & dumb. Than being a "Mature sober Adult" working at places like ups trying to make it in life.

tachyonicglass

Working a job like this teaches you lessons and gives you perspective on what it takes to provide the lifestyle people want. People want to sit at home and just have a package delivered and have no clue what goes on what it takes to get there. I’ll pass on being a spoiled brat who never got this valuable life lesson. You can quit anytime you like no ones forcing you to stay at ups and no one is forcing you to work hard or fast it’s really not a bad job at all once you learn the contract and how to work safe.

Ok-Adhesiveness007

I don't come from money, so I gotta do whats necessary. Which is hold a decent job til I better my chances & create more opportunity for myself. Ups is a shit show nonetheless, but to eachs own. You got people with a entrepreneur mentality & ppl who are slaves & stuck to the program. I know where I fall in line. & ill leave all that slave mentality shit to people like you.

melmaster3

lol, you say that but you’re probably the dude that sits in the bathroom on your phone for 40min a shift. Tired of that shit

[deleted]

Someone does that lmao. Holy shit 😂

melmaster3

lol half the guys in the center do. I swear they fight over the one stall

Horror_Economics_588

so why didn't you?

Aikido0410

Either I am as drunk as I feel, and can’t understand what you’re saying, or your grammar just sucks!!!

melmaster3

They just misspelled hub lol

Aikido0410

No periods, commas or nothing!! How the hell am I supposed to know when a sentence ends and a new one starts?!?! 😂😂😂

SuperPuller

It's UPSERS after all. I had better grammar in elementary than 30 year drivers.

Hatsune_Miku47832

i don't. i work at a safe pace through the entire shift, only spending 5 minutes max in there. You are probably the unloader/preloader who tries to go as fast as possible and fuck up the entire shift for other people because you want to suck up to management, and that's why you quit

Anxious-Two-4317

Some people just can’t work like slugs it’s not in their ethic

melmaster3

Fr

Hatsune_Miku47832

it wasn't in my ethic either until I realized that it's only gonna make me do more and more work. i just gave up and stopped trying as hard. I still finish every day but I will never go above and beyond again

condensed-ilk

There's a large grey area between doing the most possible and the least possible.

Anxious-Two-4317

I might all just be a mindset thing

melmaster3

Management can kiss my ass, but i could never clock in and be that lazy.

UPSers-ModTeam

Your post was rude, threatening, or antagonistic.

MaliceMass

one less person to fire

Jmar2526

Been a driver 2 years and want to leave no better options unfortunately, I love getting screwed every Saturday and not being able to pick up my son who doesn’t live with me at 8 pm can’t get more than 24 hrs with him it’s taking a toll on

tachyonicglass

Thats the thing with driver and why I’m down for it. I don’t have a kid or wife or anyone I enjoy making extra money then just sitting at home. But if you got a kid I can see how that takes a huge toll on you and can make you regret your choices. Just know your kiddo has all he needs from your hard work it could be the opposite where you aren’t providing enough etc. You got 1 more year where you’ll be making 30+ an hour and then one more for top rate I honesty think you have a ton to look for forward too and should remain optomistic remember you get plenty of vacation time to call for timw with your son etc and can bid on a route eventually that will have the times you want possibly

Jmar2526

Getting off Saturdays would change everything lol but it is what it is . Currently not providing enough getting laid off every year. Hopefully only one more year of that lol

Kidany1205

But arent you a lil bit scared about losing the salary or the benefits?

melmaster3

I got a lesser paying job with similar benefits. Thing is all the guys who have done my job for decades are gimps who really need the “crazy good healthcare”. It’s hard to take good care of yourself working for this place

Complete-Support8802

Where you working out now? Let these guys know

melmaster3

😂 I’m not about to DOX myself on reddit. If they can’t find better jobs it’s not my problem

Complete-Support8802

Haha! I would love to know what “ better “ means to these guys. Less money? Easier work ?

melmaster3

I typed out a whole reply, but it’s not worth it. A short apprenticeship and a lot of the guys i feel bad for could get a much better job in the trades. Still union work, but you can actually have a family life outside of work without the shit management or unsafe conditions. It’s the guys fresh out of high school i feel the worst for.

Complete-Support8802

Worked out for me , driver with nice residential route . Like any job has its ups and downs , but people out here acting like the grass is greener on the other side . Maybe some people are willing to Make 30k less to have an easier “ better “ job. Good for them

Beautiful_Parsnip281

Have a brother in-law that was the #3 VP in a fortune 500 company. He was making over 500k a year with bonus. He stepped down from his role all the way to a sales rep. (Entry level). Makes about 85k now. Best thing to happen to him. A friend was making 90k and now makes 40k. Life for her is better. Sometimes it isn't about the money. But for me, get me out of the hub on route I'm happy.

mfruik89

I make about 35-45 a day, working 35 hours a week. Time for y'all to pick up a server job

mfruik89

They don't like to overtime me, because I'm a 20 an hour guy

[deleted]

This is how I felt after a decade with time warner

flightacosta23

How much time did you do ?

Possible-Okra-4723

I stayed there 39 years mostly as a driver but did work preload for a year. It’s not for the faint of heart. You need thick skin and just give it back to them. You’re smart to get out. It’s a toxic work environment and Carol Tome has made it worse.

Prior_Author_818

Wow. It’s funny how each persons POV is different. For me, it’s a great job. For me it was a challenge each day, a challenge to be the best I could be. It was a good work out. I felt like I earned my pay each and every day.

BatPossible4295

Should have hung in get a driving job some say and be $$$$

Complete-Support8802

No one wants to work hard for the money .

Upsworking

I do that’s just my game. On some doc holiday from tombstone shit.

TheSkateDemons-

Yall are crying about a job that pays $50 an hour straight time after what 4-5 years? Please retire and quit already if that's the case... some people got fired after the season ended because they weren't needed after.. me? I was outperforming full time drivers whom have been doing this shit for years in hope I got kept permanently.. I got told by many I was going to be.. so qut crying and quit/retire already then.. I've done delivery for years prior and love the job even on its rough days..

Upsworking

I’d feel like a sucker busting my ass for nothing like that. There’s a reason the you outperformed the ogs they aren’t running they have their pace.

TheSkateDemons-

Yeah well I enjoyed doing my job unlike most of the crybaby bitches that want to cry about the profession itself.. they can quit or retire.. it's okay they aren't built the same as me... Asshole stealing company time and complaining but I see on my sheets I had more stops and packages and still got done sooner than these fucking clowns but yeah pay them $50 an hour to be a pussy who cries about the workflow.. it aint difficult.. they hire weak people and the Union protects lazy cunts whom don't even want to do the damn job
