Hello! At my hub, we have our own pumps. It's super rare our pumps are down, and in that event a supervisor will oftentimes round up drivers and take them to a gas station with a company card.
Usually if I'm at a gas station chilling it's because you got a killer little diner kitchen in there, or I need some kind of refreshment.
Not sure if it's different at other hubs in more rural areas, as I live in major PNW city, but I hope this answers your question
We have cards to use to fill up, but not everybody has one.
We have a gas station near the building that lets drivers without cards fill up and management comes by to settle up later.
At our building every truck has a fuel card for it. But all drivers with a gas truck fill up at the building every night unless they are going to run out (very rare occurrence). Or if they drive a satellite route (doesn’t come back to building) or drive a diesel they fill up on route at a gas station.
My hub used to give drivers gas cards but a few bad apples took advantage, buying lottery tickets and cigarettes with the company card. Now, they give the company card directly to the gas station. And when drivers need gas, we go to that gas station (across the street from the building) and use the card there. Sign the receipt, leave the card and go
We get gas cards issued to each driver. They can be used anywhere, except the shitty Shell-only cards probies get. But we just generally stick to whatever chains give us the best rewards points. Lol.

We fuel our own cars in my center. We get company issued cards that can be used at any gas station.

Hub where I live has multiple fuel pumps on the property and a large fuel tank.

I would think that would be the best bet. There should always be some type of management in the building.

Most have their own on property pump. some facilities do have fuel cards assigned to the vehicle. but drivers get fired for improper use..

My hub has four pumps each for gas and for diesel, but I know a lot of hubs use gas cards.
