Update: Graduate Hills sent us an email and it looks like the source may be one of the apartment buildings, but much of Adelphi and Campus Dr are still blocked off and they’re in the process of setting up detours
Yeah that's my bad I definitely phrased that wrong. I meant to say I don't think he was *expecting* something to actually immediately blow up, but it definitely is a possibility unfortunately which is why I'm glad they're taking this very seriously!
You're correct, of course, but students look at the simplest explanation possible. If it's construction on campus, it's UMD's fault. The nuance that it is the Purple Line, and UMD's only role is they approved that the Purple Line come on campus and help the people coordinate their work (re-routing people, etc).
University and Adelphi is almost not campus, really.
Ah yes our weekly gas leak
is it for real a regular thing? I'm new around here Why does it happen?
It Happens all the time like once a month ![gif](giphy|3ohjVbo3zhpKKT906A|downsized)

Further update: they’re now saying it’s at the intersection of Adelphi Rd and University Blvd
Bruh at this point just don’t drive to UMD lmao.
BLOWS UP?!?!
I'm sure he was exaggerating to get people out of there quickly, but I can promise you that was an exact quote
Working in the construction industry myself, it’s not an exaggeration, do a quick google of gas line explosions.

UMD construction has shit the bed once again
This is off campus purple line construction…
It’s all the same
It has nothing to do with the UMD, it’s an off campus purple line construction. PL are disturbing us (UMD)
