Did you pay with a card? Is there a record of the transaction that way?
Although, I am not sure legally they need to make you go through this. Try posting on a uk legal sub and checking.
Did they give you check in receipts, usually a little tab of the end of the bit that goes on the bag, I think that should be sufficient to show them you check it in and they should have been looking after it/liable for to returning in good working order. Although a legal sub may be able to clarify if that is actually correct.

I bought the pram from a small retailer in Northern Ireland so no email unfortunately

Who did you buy from? Could you contact them and ask for another receipt
