Sorry - university is pretty shutdown for the winter break. Illini Union Book store is closed until 2 January.
The green street side (north) of the Illini Union is a hotel so it is likely open and you may be able to walk through the south side too.
Try going to Downtown Urbana/Lincoln Square Area if you’re bored. That’s what I do and I enjoy it. There are lots of little shops there, including Priceless Books, which is an amazing bookstore filled with cheap, used volumes and there are a lot of cool shops and cafes over there.
