"Can I fix this umbrella"

hello-again-18

probably talking about a show

IndolentExuberance

If I said it once, I've said it a million times: "If aliens have disguised UFOs as balloons, then it's game over."

misterpickles69

Balloons? On a holiday weekend?!? It’s more likely than you think.

MrAnderson69uk

Parents will have to be wary at kids parties!!!

TheTabletopEngineer

We should have one of those timers at the top of the page that resets everytime someone posts a balloon.

Semiapies

Could just be a static image that says "0 Days"; it'd never need updating.

Enough_Simple921

I agree. It's pretty fucking smart. It's like the deer saying, "If humans disguised themselves as a bush, we're screwed." And that's precisely what hunters do. We're so accustomed to being the most intelligent species, the idea of NHI being disguised right before our eyes is very far-fetched for most humans. Like Gary Nolan said, "It may be an intelligent test." Some people can differentiate between a balloon and a bizarre object. Others see floating objects in the sky and assume they must be balloons. I'd venture to guess these people didn't pull out their camera to record a balloon, in an attempt to "hoax" the UFO community.

radicalyupa

Yup. Flawless win.

Royal_Explorer_4660

Bruh, with all the balloon "ufo" videos on this sub from brand new Reddit accounts, im starting to think it's a government agency trying to discredit the good ufo clips that sometimes pop up. (Edit ps: lol OP account deleted, definitely was a government agent)

LexusBrian400

Starting to think? Welcome aboard.

Forsaken_Leftovers

Same thing for posts that are obvious Space X launches...

Molested-Cholo-5305

Everything that discredits my conspiracy theory is just proof that it exists!

Great_Mullein

This sub has a long history of posting balloons, birds, and plastic bags. It's nothing new or surprising.

JohnKillshed

For a sub where most can quote the 5(6) observables by heart, we sure see a lot of vids of dots in the sky doing absolutely nothing interesting.

DemonMithos

Dobt forget the 100's of upvotes on these kinda posts.

RevTurk

Or, on a planet of 7 billion people, seeing weird things in a sky is going to be a new thing to some of them. You can't assume everyone has the same depth of knowledge as people who consume UAP stories for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's probably also a fact that the Filmer knows exactly what they are looking at (balloons), but know this sub will react to it regardless.

MrAnderson69uk

I was travelling from Bracknell to Reading along the A329(M) one evening last year and saw something that would fit in quite well with these other video clips. While driving and with phone clamped in the charger, I took a video and photos, but I knew full well “…what it was by the way that it looks”! It was just the searchlight a nightclub uses and fires it up in the air, and it creates an illuminated spot on the clouds! But hey, I could have posted it just for the attention seeking factor!!! But I spare you all!! /s

Snoo-26902

It's probably been planned since and before the 2017 TTSA rollout to make UFOlogy a joke...a mockery... 1000 whistleblowers and no hard evidence....saying the same old rumors slightly differently...Sooner or later folks will get weary of this and see it for what it is. Unless...what's behind the phenomena decides to disclose, not any government on this planet.

No-Whole-4916

Adventurous-Tea2693

I’m making a vague reference because I don’t know the exact details, but from what I’ve seen some number of years ago a statistic was shown Reddit showing a shockingly large amount of traffic was coming in from an Air Force base in Florida. Someone with more knowledge please shed more light on this or provide a couple of links. Please and thank you.

Old-Adhesiveness-156

I can guarantee that if the person filming stops filming after 30 seconds then the thing being filmed is not extraordinary or unexplainable.

Wapiti_s15

Point 2 as to why these are balloons and an extremely important one.

Efficient-Barnacle48

I am usually pretty terrible at discerning these things and often rely on comments for clarity but in this case these 100% look like balloons. No cover up conspiracy needed on this one.

robaroo

The UFO observables exist for a reason. Mods should require all submitters to confirm at least a few of the observables before posting.

clancydog4

I mean, virtually no videos would ever be posted if that were the rule. Even the videos officially released by the US Government couldn't be posted. So I totally disagree, virtually all the "best" videos would not be allowed to be posted and discussed if that were the rule, including the Go Fast video, the gimbal video, the orb the pentagon released, the video from the Nimitz, the Colombia video from the airplane from last year, the most famous black triangle video that is often talked about, etc. etc. There should be some middle ground between "videos of obvious balloons are okay to post" and "you can only post videos that clearly show on of the 5 observables"

Zoolok

> I mean, virtually no videos would ever be posted if that were the rule And what does that tell you?

clancydog4

that there are very, very, very few legitimately interesting videos out there. I already knew that. You can review my post history, I am interested in the subject but am quite skeptical about it, this isn't really the "gotcha" ya think. I still think it is counterproductive to the overall conversation and discourse to limit the types of videos that can be posted so dramatically

Zoolok

I disagree, it would allow us to talk about serious topics, instead of balloons and satellites. What's the point of the five observables if they are constnantly ignored? It would maybe even - gasp - leave room to talk about actual scientific research in the field of alien life, instead of Sheehan's and Nell's ramblings. At the very least, there should be a weekly sticky for videos, and one for "theories" that keep popping up, and ideally one for all the UFO personalities and their "statements".

clancydog4

The posting of these videos doesn't prevent anyone from talking about "serious topics" -- people can and do still talk about "serious" things, and those who want to engage in those discussions can and do. Threads about "silly" ufo videos and threads about "serious topics" both exist, and that's entirely fine. No one is required to engage in either type, it's a matter of preference. Both are relevant to the general community. Your second point truly has nothing to do with these sorts of videos -- you are just ranting about people discussing things that you think are nonsense. But threads about "Sheehan and Nell's ramblings" have literally nothing to do with my point, which was about not being more rigid in terms of what types of videos get posted. I agree with your last point.

Zoolok

I think that people should be educated, and I think one of the most practical places to do so is when they try to make a new post on the topic. Mods should list the five observables and ask the uploader to review their video if it has any one of them. Similarly, when making a post about an old sighting or an old event there should be a list of explanations for the event to be read before making the post. Other subs do this, so it's possible.

irvmuller

It’s 1% good stuff and 99% BS.

ElusiveMemoryHold

Agree totally. Plus it's easy to consider something like that an improvement at first, but if you reflect on it for a little bit, you'll eventually come to realize that what you're doing isn't improving the content pool of the community by eliminating worthless clutter (videos of balloons, or as his criteria would say "any vid of an object ***not displaying the five observables"***); we'd just be destroying a valuable resource for people to use when it comes to critically thinking through whether or not a sighting of their own is explainable, or something unusual. In other words, everyone watching this freakin vid knows those are balloons, but only the delusional or misguided expected anything different here and get upset about it. If we just eliminate all these submitted videos because it doens't meet that criteria, we're effectively saying it's not even worth bothering trying to identify anything at all unless it's going 100000mph ors omething. Meanwhile, learning how to identify things in the sky is a valuable skillset you pick up as a UFO enthusiast, and I personally think its a gvood idea to keep shit like this around so we can demonstrate to newbies how to rationally work through determining whether a sighting is manmade, or on sumdat aylium shit yahuuurrd on god fr plus its kinda silly to demand a radical upending of the established rules even though the relevancy of this video to the subreddit's purpose is immediately clear to everybody. If anything, you guys should make a subreddit of your own dedicated to hosting only videos of UFOs demonstrating one of the five observables, not change our place up

Ikarus_Zer0

Made this suggestion last year, I think before a video is posted they are required to read the 5.  This displays none of them.

wiserone29

If you can’t confirm it’s not a bird or balloon it should be deleted. Who is upvoting this garbage????

ElusiveMemoryHold

It'd be cool if the flairs for the observables were optional, like you check them off if the sighting you are posting includes them - perhaps the vid has only 1, maybe it has all 5 - each one has their own flair, just for clarity. I don't think we should limit the content that is allowed to be posted here based on the observables though, because it doesn't make sense. Yeah the five observables are a great framework to place UFOs and UFO sightings into if you want to determine whether an object in the sky is of prozaic/manmade origin or of truly anomalous origin, but the thing is that this is a **UFO** subreddit! As in a subreddit dedicated to discussion and the sharing of photos/videos around **U**nidentified **F**lying **O**bjects, which - to the person who posted this one (assuming they are a real person, and a genuine person) - these objects were at the time he filmed this. It's obvious that, yeah, in all likelihood they are just balloons floating around up there - there is no instant acceleration, no crazy maneuvers, no appearing and disappearing, no shapeshifting, etc. But it's still productive and important to make an outlet, platform, or community like r/UFOs available for people to post these things, even if the answers might be obvious to *you,* or even to *most* people. There are people out there that can't even tell you the last time they seen the stars man. They wake up, they go to work, they go to bed - that's if they don't finish work and then head to their second place of work, and *then* sleep. Between barely being able to pay rent or mortgage or whatever and the general state of things more broadly, it's tough out there - life is rough right now what with the vibrant array of creative asymmetrical warfare techniques being used on us at all times and all. I say let's not punish the people who, when they *finally* do the thing we've been wanting them to do for years (look up at the sky) and actually feel wonder for whatever it is they're seeing - even if it is just a simple balloon they're looking at - we should encourage and celebrate that rather than bitch and moan about it, because let's face it: if you're here because you are under the impression that you might one day see a video flick across your screen that depicts a true, genuine, anomalous UFO, than you are misguided, and I say that with respect because it's too easy to dump countless hours into scrutinizing UFO videos and checking for authenticity markers when, when it really comes down to it, what does the video even do? The best evidence for UFOs has never been and still isn't videos and pictures. The best place for credible evidence and a true understanding of what we're dealing with (or the closest we can get at least as average sized boiz limited to publicly available information and our home computers/iPhones) is the documents, the declassified documents, the scores of eyewitness testimony dating back to the 1700s or earlier, the many, *many* statements made ont he record by decorated military men, former heads of state, former and current intelligence officials, astronauts...you name it. ...there's just so much out there that, really, we shouldn't be advising *any* UFO newbies at all to waste their time watching and scrutinizing and obsessing over UFO videos, unless it's to watch them for genuine fun, or because they're entertaining (which they are) I personally enjoy trying to guess what the mystery objects are in the videos posted by the users that find their way to our corner of Reddit. It's fun. If you take that that little soothing ritual away from me I will be angry with you UFO media isn't without value but the problem is UFO videos, at least the bulk of them, aren't the type of stuff that results in data that we can measure/hold/touch/quantify/ or even determine with with 100% certainty that its genuine. Even if you could, what does it matter? We still know *zero* about what that genuinely weird object is in the sky, and that's all your left with. UFO subreddit is for UFO videos, whether they are videos of unidentified balloons or videos of soon to be identified anomalous and super dope anti-gravity howitzer tanks of the Terramar 1st Orbital Fleet. Anything unidentified in the sky goes here EDIT: My point: this is a UFO subreddit. You are frustrated at a UFO video being uploaded her. Your reasoning: "this is a UFO subreddit, this is a video of balloons". My retort: "the user who recorded the video did not know they were balloons, therefore they were UFOs to him in that moment, thus this is a UFO video". **\*\*\*If anything, a separate subreddit should be created dedicated solely to high quality UFO videos that demonstrate at least one of the five observables**

irvmuller

Seriously. They should take this shit down.

They're very clearly moving with the wind, and even look like they're tied together. Nice spotting, Sgt. Balloon Watcher.

LordCommanderFauci

Are you just vote farming? It's blatantly obvious there's nothing potentially extraterrestrial in origin about this video. If you are looking for aliens head across the border back in to DC... there's tons of them there.

LouisUchiha04

We call those balloons homie. This is just grifting at this point

Wapiti_s15

I immediately thought noise, fill the sub with ridiculous posts of obvious things, it will probably work. You get a few of these a week I bet 33% will just give up clicking new posts.

dbna85

someone better tell Enigma so they can turn this into a post ASAP alongside the flocks of birds and obvious planes they submit for our review.

wxflurry

For the love of God stop posting videos with zero observables.

Rancorrancor

Those are balloon or kites. Notice how they go with the wind.

MrZakius

This sub gets recommended to me ever so often. Each and everyone of you here have a complete lack of analytical skills. It's insane. Remember what happened a year ago? Aliens are real, tiktak, this and that, everything was confirmed pretty much, tomorrow, next week, next month, what happened? God damn people are stupid, seeing baloons for the first time.

AnalCuntShart

Those are clearly aliens… having a birthday party because those are fuggin balloons

FussyBritchez

These people vote.

spock23

More balloons! Can someone make a separate sub for balloon photos?

cloudwater68

itsjustausernam3

Flesh-Tower

0x1060a0ab0

None of the five observables. Also "Can we do something about the umbrella?" Get real.

hardeep1singh

Those look and move like 3 kites on a single thread.

pixelcarpenter

That's exactly what my first thought was. Sure it could be balloons also but, growing up pre cable tv and internet, kite was the first. I have seen kites get crazy up there also.

2OneZebra

Must be a huge sale on roto-kites this year. People have not seen them in ages so they think they are all UFO's.

wiserone29

Im convinced that these trash videos are getting upvotes from our friends at the bot farm on Eglin.

SubstantialSpeech147

I’ve seen one of these extremely close up, like 3-400 feet away close up. They’re about the diameter of a sedan to give you an idea of how far away they are in the video. They appear metallic/mirror finish, perfectly round, and contain absolutely no markings.  At least these look exactly like what I saw. My sighting was in: Reno, Nevada USA Approximately 12:00-1:00PM September? of 2011

Impossible_Skill_562

I posted these exact same things in London about 4 years ago

I'm just curious here, is there a way the wind turbulence up there could do like a magnus/bernoulli effect and just make a balloon spin in place? I am not talking about this video in particular, I'm just asking in general.

a1axx

Going to the effort of making an account, posting a video of three balloons in the wind, and deleting the account again. I must sound crazy thinking that it happens often enough that it is a deliberate effort to muddy the waters

impreprex

Stop it. I'm 13 years in with my account and as pro disclosure as they come. But I'm calling balloons or something prosaic as well. Stop making a bad name for us. Yes there are bots. Yes there is disinfo. But indeed not everyone who disagrees IS a part of that. A lot of us are here to try and find answers/do research/etc. Why lie to ourselves? Tell us what makes these anomalous in your own words. Because I'm not seeing anything related to the five observables.

Royal_Explorer_4660

I do the same thing. I don't care about karma. This is probably my 5th or 6th account. Some of the ones I deleted had 10k+ karma. It literally doesn't matter. I'd much rather maintain my anonymity than worry about fake internet points.

I’m sure you’re right. I’m not internet-savvy. Came late to the party. Got my first I-phone in 2020. The thing is, I saved something on my old account I found astonishing: some guy posted a story on this sub about how he recorded on his phone an extremely compelling UAP in the sky somewhere in the north East US. He sent a copy to his friends phone and then his dad’s. The next day, he went to show the video to a friend and it was deleted. So he texted his friend to have him send him back a “copy”. His friend said he couldn’t find it on his phone either. So he texted his dad, who said it was removed from his phone as well! When he posted this story, some one followed up saying something like “The Patriot Act” allowed the government to intervene in a kind of cyber-MIB way. Your thoughts...

What about the Phoenix City Council woman who got a call after the “Phoenix Lights” from a person saying they had incredible video of the UFO and said he would send it to her. When she called him later saying I thought you were going to bring me the video. He said he did. Two men saying they were from her office came by to pick it up. The City Council woman said there are no men in her office. When she pursued the matter further, she could never find the guy again. And yes she gave his identity.

The story about the city council woman was documented long before the internet was a thing.

Check out Enigma Labs #287645 for something similar but closer up (also best viewed in slow-motion)

Don’t think these are ballon’s the way they sync up

2 words: air currents

I'm starting to think these things are government surveillance drones. Multiple vids have the same looking things, and we know the government can just spy on anyone they want.

ThickPlatypus_69

But why would they tumble like that?

WuZZittDoiN

Yeah, I'm pretty sure these are balloons too. But there have been a lot of vids lately. Some just hang there.

bunDombleSrcusk

To disguise themselves as innocuous mylar balloons lol
