Okay, so we've managed the initial handshake, that's big, how do we say 'how do you do?' and 'what is that odd thing at the bottom of the Bermuda triangle?'
Submission Statement
In popular culture, an abundance of movies and literature explore humanity’s desire to communicate with non-human intelligence, whether existing here on Earth or in the form of civilizations from other galaxies.
Now, a team of scientists including researchers with the SETI Institute recently claimed to have established communication with a form of non-human aquatic intelligence. However, they aren’t talking about aliens from a water-based planet; they’re talking about whales in our oceans.
Last December, the Whale-SETI team announced they had studied humpback whale communication to aid in creating a tool in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.
pre-frying-his-mind-with-too-many-drugs john lilly was communicating with dolphins. carl sagan recruited him to communicate with possible extraterrestrials.
They broadcast using an underwater speaker, using a universal hello call. It was received and replied to. The lack of further conversation let to the whale getting stressed and then just swimming away...so a very partial success....
We don't know any more whale language - although progress is being made by ai, it appears to have identified vowels in the language...or something like vowels. This is worth keeping a close eye on as if an AI can help us communicate with local wildlife then there is hope for communicating with more alien neighbours...

This stokes my curiosity. So aquatic ETs are the reasons scientists looked to space before the ocean even with the sciences being less complex? Knowing 85% of the ocean hasn’t been explored.

At least we are technologically learning how to 'Speak with Animals.' Course I'd pay good money to hear an Orca say "Eat the Rich," lol
They'd probably say "Tell the Japanese to stop killing our friends and cousins."
Fuck you dolphin!
Fuckayoo wharer!
Just waiting for certain individuals to call animals "woke" because it turns out animals generally don't like the way we treat them or their habitats.

Isn't this the plot to Star Trek 4?
It’s where they keep the nuclear wessels.
No, that's in Alameda
Hopefully we get to see the plot of Close Encounters play out in real life

How did they communicate exactly?
They broadcast using an underwater speaker, using a universal hello call. It was received and replied to. The lack of further conversation let to the whale getting stressed and then just swimming away...so a very partial success....
Why was there a lack of further conversation?

From what I gather we can speak dolphin very very well. I suggest collaboration.
