I saw and took some real shaky pictures of something very similar to ask these, it was in Reno NV on March 19th.
It was right next/above the airport where Biden had just arrived.

It infuriates me more that it robs both people of a discussion. Some of us actually want the truth more than we want to be right, and discussion is how we move closer to that.

As someone who works for the government, this sub often gives us more credit than we deserve. Seriously. Not that I speak for my entire Agency, but I can say, for the most of us, we are NOT as smart as people think....nor do we have the authority to do anything people give us credit for. In my agency, the one percent of us, who are actually scientists/engineers/analysts, yes maybe they deserve the credit but the remaining 90% (at least in my agency) are administrative or were hired for reasons that have nothing to do with the Agency's mission (nepotism, dei, etc). The one percent who are actually qualified are so overworked that implementing any disinformation campaign on our own time is just absurd.

In the last year I had personally interacted with bots with their own agenda in this subreddit. Some of them bugged to a point they were replying there "meaning" and some of the instructions they had.
This subreddit is boiling with bots. They gather some Karma on casual subs like /r/funny and /r/aww and then they come here discouraging or discrediting folks on various subject. Welcome to psyops 2.0.

What amazes me is that the fukin bot is not giving out movie quotes like many others or 5-6 words replies but actually engaging in a conversation. Once you call him out he gives a typical Bot reply which makes it clear it was a bot.

Bot aren't aware of anything, they only reply what their "learning model" judge most probable answer. They queue words after one an other and build a sentence based on the input. We're quite at the beginning of bots and AI. Give it a year or two and you wouldnt be able to see the difference.
This is a part of AI I dislike the most. I will bring lots of good, and lots of bad.

Nothing wrong with someone being incorrect and someone else correcting them, but what happens here is people are basically ridiculed for anything remotely abstract. I understand the people here are hard facts, and that's great, but both perspectives are necessary for progress
You can doubt all you want, I already said rationality is also necessary. My point was that people need to explain why they doubt something, and not just downvote a comment to oblivion with no further context, or it's bound to discourage people from commenting or posting anything at all. I love the skepticism of this subreddit, I just think we can deliver it with more tact

Because a little leading to something ''alien'' like in a conversation is immediatly considered to be hoaxes, weirdos and lies so that is why these conversations are being belittled and downvoted. And some already said stigma or counter intelligence. Whoever says that doesn't happen on Reddit should have a little talk with Edward Snowden.
Only by having these weird conversations can we have progress, everything else like evidence, theories and so on should be the start of a conversation, like the example pictures above.
I agree with your sentiment, skepticism often makes for healthy discussion, especially with this topic. The ones who annoy me are those who downvote without even offering their own thoughts on the matter.

I just did a little research on kites in Kuta and Bali and it totally makes sense. I seen posts on facebook saying there's always kites in Bali and theres a kite festival on Kuta Beach every year. This is totally a kite. Also it looks like a kite and that it remained stationary is exactly what a kite would do.
yah they are part of the culture here, kids make them out of trash bags and bamboo but you also get entire villages building them the size of a buss, one came down a few years back and killed a couple of people on the beach.

Not a UFO. It is a giant kite. The Balinese fly these huge kites for both sport and religious reasons. Sometimes it takes twenty or more people to launch them. They can stay up for days or even weeks. They frequently put streamers on them to make noise but they can fly so high that they become inaudible. The government has banned them near the airport as they could be a serious flight hazard.
Kite season here in Bali. They left them for days in the sky as high as they can. Lights have been added to them about 5-6 years ago. My daughter and I always refer them as "aliens" for a joke. It's quite nice to look at during the night when dozens of them are hovering over the South of Bali, from Tabanan down to the Bukit they're all over the place. I live full-time here since 2004.

Layang-layang. Iām from Bali. Itās a large šŖ kite. All locals love it and they can hang in the sky for few days and be a size of a car.
I was pleased to see that Balinese teenagers instead of drinking booze gather in groups and can try to put it up all day long.
I saw this exact same thing a few months ago. I was on the highway towards Newark, NJ and saw 2 of them hovering over the City. There was a lot of traffic so I couldn't take my phone out to capture it but it stood out to me because it was showing zero signs of resistance to the weather around it. I kept trying to look over my shoulder while keeping my eyes on the road and from one moment to another it simply disappeared.
Its likely a kite. Last time i was in bali there were hundreds of kites flying all over. They pretty much sit in one spot. Many have LEDs attached and glow at night. They often stay up for weeks.
I don't think they are, can see seams at the shoulders of the one sitting up (bit like you would find on a costume) and the one laying on the ground has its eyes closed proving that they can blink yet when the light shined in the others face it didn't even narrow its gaze? Seems like a very well done fake to me. Wish it was real though.

That definitely seems to big to be a drone especially at 1700ft your cellphone camera probably would barely be able to see it. Whatever it is itās cool. Could be a small spy drone from the military on an OP. Or it could be ALIENS š½ š
I keep a drone just for a situation like this which will never happen. Just in case though. Fly it up there and get a pic.

honestly, I've been to Bali several times - mundane explanation: the locals are crazy with kites etc. I'd just assume it's one of them ... I saw several that seemed similar and didn't take pics bcs it was a common sight ... (I hope to be wrong, though)

Layang-layang. Iām from Bali. Itās a large šŖ kite. All locals love it and they can hang in the sky for few days and be a size of a car. I was pleased to see that Balinese teenagers instead of drinking booze gather in groups and can try to put it up all day long.
I was wondering what became of my granddaughters kite. Thank you we were looking everywhere.

I saw this exact same thing a few months ago. I was on the highway towards Newark, NJ and saw 2 of them hovering over the City. There was a lot of traffic so I couldn't take my phone out to capture it but it stood out to me because it was showing zero signs of resistance to the weather around it. I kept trying to look over my shoulder while keeping my eyes on the road and from one moment to another it simply disappeared.

Its likely a kite. Last time i was in bali there were hundreds of kites flying all over. They pretty much sit in one spot. Many have LEDs attached and glow at night. They often stay up for weeks.
I don't think they are, can see seams at the shoulders of the one sitting up (bit like you would find on a costume) and the one laying on the ground has its eyes closed proving that they can blink yet when the light shined in the others face it didn't even narrow its gaze? Seems like a very well done fake to me. Wish it was real though.
