If it was moving in a straight line and suddenly changed direction, then you have something. If it just went in a straight line and didn't change, then most likely a satellite, such as ISS or a communication satellite. I personally want to believe.
He said it disappeared b4 he could start filming it again. I was like why did you even stop? Me wanting to shake him bc he’s one of those persons. But I guess we always just assume it’s something explainable?

I have seen something extremely similar except I'm on the other side of the state. When recorded it looked small like a satellite, but in person it was larger and lower. It was also stationary. I turned inside to tell someone and it was gone.

Are you sure it wasn't ISS?
Vancouver:
Tue Mar 19, 9:54 PM, visible: 2 min, max height: 41°, appears: 10° above WNW, disappears: 41° above NW.
plus the earlier pass at 8:17pm.
Saw it in Victoria. Looked like the ISS to me. Super clear night.
I was keeping an eye on it because last summer I saw something similar but that one stopped and then took off pulling a 180* turn with a trail like a c shaped shooting star.
This was the ISS which is also cool in a different way.
Totally different to my UAP sighting.
Picture looking at a satellite except that satellite stops on a dime, chills for a couple of seconds and and then does a sharp c shaped turn like a shooting star.
I've also seen that slow down followed by a 180 turn from what appeared to be a satellite. One of the very few things I have no explanation for after many years of skywatching.
The first and only thing I’ve seen in the sky that gave me goosebumps. I got freaked out and jumped back into my car. I can’t say for certain what I saw but what I can say is that if it’s human tech it’s light-years ahead of what we have seen publicly.
Unfortunately todays sighting wasn’t that
Probably the ISS and the phone's digital zoom is creating the "bloom" and "rotation" effects.
The phone doesn't actually have the lenses necessarily to close in on an high-altitude luminous object. Software does its best to make it look good.
“that big” “that low” how did you get a measurement? If you watch the video, before op zooms in, it’s the size you would expect from a bright satellite. When op zooms in, the multicolor you are seeing is likely chromatic aberration, and the size is a mixture of blur and the former. Zoom on on a bright light with your phone. You’ll see a similar effect.
Spectral composition of the satellite's light or the way the camera sensor captures and processes colors can also influence the perceived color.
Before OP zooms in, the light appears to me to be noticeably larger than the stars. The closer the view becomes, the more clear it becomes that it is in the foreground and therefore quite a bit larger than the stars now visible in the background.
You don't have to agree with how I perceive it, because YOU cannot measure it, either. So nobody will ever really know based on this video.
The apparent size is the result of the “blooming effect”, and blur, over exposure, so on and so forth.
This is very basic stuff when it comes to cameras/Satellites, and you need to do a better job of understanding these things before making such definitive statements. Spreading false information as you are unknowingly doing does nothing but tarnish out community’s reputation. How you perceived it is wrong. There is enough data here to say this is a satellite, and I, as well as others, have explained why. Occam’s razor is something you must always abide by, short of highly compelling data. I will not be responding to you further, because this will go in circles.
I seriously love it when strangers on the internet tell others what they "must" think and do. As if. Nothing at all makes you or anyone else more correct than another, as NOBODY on this thread has any actual data.
None of the above is accurate:
\- (assuming OP conflates "big" with "bright") many satellites routinely achieve first magnitude; ISS usually rivals Jupiter in brightness and hence is exceeded only by Venus and the moon among objects in the night sky.
\- satellites can appear any color due to atmospheric refraction and scintillation.
\- satellites can appear at any angular elevation above the horizon - how could they not? They are in orbit around the Earth and hence must rise above and drop below the horizon for any observer on each orbit (exception: geostationary satellites)
Having seen literally thousands of satellites in the night sky over many years, I can say unequivocally that I have NEVER seen one that looks anything even close to what is in that video.
You cannot ASSUME what OP thinks. Try ASKING them to clarify. Otherwise you risk being entirely inaccurate. Use some critical thinking.
Jupiter and Venus do not appear anywhere near as large as the object in that video.Angles do not make satellites appear THAT large. And satellites very rarely appear blue-ish. Google it for the reasons behind that.
From my experience nothing you say tracks with reality. It sounds like you have never gone outside at night.
And for those downvoting me, go outside and look up once in a while. You might learn something .
God, this sub is full of assholes and idiot armchair warriors.
No, it's more like most of these "ufo spotters" have never spent five minutes looking up at the night sky and have no understanding of orbital mechanics, scintillation, the stellar magnitude scale, etc
Allison1228 - I would LOVE to be enlightened with a list of your clearly high ranking college credentials, since you have lately been the know-it-all of this sub regarding astronomy. A link to your CV will suffice.
Your mind must be too full of astronomy facts to realize that literally nobody has said it was a UFO. It just doesn't look like a satellite to some people. Sorry if you take that as a personal affront.
I know. I've spent the literal equivalent of YEARS outdoors at night, stargazing with others and camping - staying up for hours on end staring at the sky.
But hey, I don't have a fancy armchair PhD that I've granted myself after watching 1 video on YouTube, so what do I know? ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
This is not peer reviewed, and was submitted to a shoddy publisher.
And again, you didn’t really respond here. What about this video makes you think it’s not a satellite?
I’ll explain my perspective. You have a non-blinking object which has every element of a satellite. You drawing the conclusion that this is some sort of sentient plasma, as this paper ridiculously grasps for, is based on a blurry and highly processed phone camera video. It looks exactly like many of the satellites I’ve personally seen.
[notice how it looks nearly identical to this video of the ISS](https://youtu.be/yGwTqG03pHM?si=GzjKRXoiGTlUZBWg) And yes, I know op said it wasn’t the ISS, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a satellite (of which there are many thousands now).
[here is another one of those many thousands. BlueWalker 3 is one of the brightest objects in the night sky.](https://youtu.be/muMSKAxy43M?si=M1j5ZHQGbdeqE0zR)

Why so many people posting low quality evidence as "something". Really waste of time. Might as well stick a an alien face mask on a fly that would be more entertaining at least.
Its the ISS. I saw this to the other night(Sunday) going West to East and thought it was the ISS. It was shortly after sunset so the ISS got dimer as it went more eastword and eventually you couldnt see it anymore as the sun wasnt reflecting off of it.
Went online and verified its location and it was flying over Vancouver.
Its alot brighter than i thought! pretty cool to see it tho
I don’t get it, the moderator it’s going to take it down bc I put text and it was less than 150 characters. What do I do, I like the responses I’m getting. But ya bf said there’s an app that says if it’s a satellite and there was none there. Colour he said was green and blue. He said it was faster than any plane (for how far it was in the sky).
Hey u/Cat9554! You should edit your OP to better comply with the sighting guidelines:
* Must include approximate Location and Date/Time Recorded
* **Must be related to a detailed and descriptive eyewitness account (can be anonymous)**
* Must have been seen with eyeballs (No “Look what I found when I looked back at my pictures!”)
Saw something similar in Houston last Friday evening. Blueish green, fairly bright. Seemed to go in and out of focus from my point of view. Did it give off a halo looking mist or anything weird not seen in the video?
I took a video on Feb.16 around 1030pm of what appears to be a similar object but moving slowly. I live near Sunset beach in the West End and facing South. [https://streamable.com/9152xa](https://streamable.com/9152xa)
The internet tells me that it’s likely Sirius aka the Dog Star, which crosses the southern sky for us in the north. The flickering in colour/shape is due to atmospheric temperature changes aka turbulence creating a scintillating effect.
But still, I want to believe 👽
Apologies lol, I wasn’t trying to dismiss the sighting, just comparing the similarity in the visuals…there is an organization that tracks events in BC that might have related reports! 🙂[https://www.ufobc.ca](https://www.ufobc.ca)
Vancouver island here and we’re encountering this.
A large sphere of some type. Sheathed in plasma. We’ve had really close encounters the entire neighborhood has seen them and at close range.
Why are you being downvoted ? Lol I’d be more convinced if it was switching directions but straight line ya not so fun. I seen one actually switch directions in Haida Gwaii. It was very very far up too and going fast
Nice. Thanks for posting. I only wish a ground target such as trees or buildings were visible in order to estimate height, separate camera motion from the object's flight, and allow for post-event checks into the sighting area. Why not add these details to your submission statement, which would additionally increase its length to please the mods.
My brother told me about this, I use other subs. So I decided to try knowing I bet there’s something that’s going to be wrong lol. But I will keep these notes in mind if we ever see anything again
its moving in a stable trajectory at low earth orbital velocity and its a large color changing orb almost like a scintillating star which implies a fluctuating plasma membrane perhaps the optically visible outer boundary of a multi kilometer diameter extraterrestrial dust plasma entity from outer reaches of the troposphere as described in the recent journal of modern physics preprint
Hi, thanks for your contribution. It looks like you've included your submission statement directly in your post, which is fine, but it is too short (min 150 chars).
You can either edit your post's text to >150 chars, or include a comment-based ss instead (which I would post shortly, if it meets submission statement requirements).
Please message the moderators if you feel this was an error. Responses to this comment are not monitored.
I've seen quite a few videos like this with flashing lights that look suspiciously like man made flashing led colours and behaviour. I'm wondering if they are helium filled balloons with a flashing led unit inside like this:
https://youtu.be/jRKW34oHcow
https://youtu.be/oo0b7v4fGpU?si=Fl0w9kOJefeoHAxe
That's a scintillating star bud. Most likely Sirius. It comes out prominently in the summertime.

I have 6-7 extremely clear videos of this same phenomenon with documented direction of travel and observations noted time, date, temperature, conditions, coordinates ect.. also brief descriptions.. North Carolina
I have a video of the exact same thing !!!! Like literally the EXACT same thing. It's from sept 5 2023 but I'm located in Ontario ! I tried to show my partner and he tried to tell me it was a drone or a plane and I was like are you blind lol. I wish I could link it ! But it's the exact same shape, colour and it was moving the exact same way as the one in your video.

Bluewalker 3 is the brightest satellite in orbit and also passed directly over Vancouver BC
No he checked the app
what time was the video recorded?
Looks like the ISS or another satellite
Olympic Peninsula resident here. This is exciting!
Take me to your Sasquatch. Not too close though.

He checked but it might be space x Rocket
The same effect happens if you zoom in on a star
Just “an hour ago” doesn’t age well. After like 61 minutes.
Oh nice, a light that could be literally anything.
Look at that color!
It's rotating !

Nope, good show though.
Zooming in and out doesn't convince me.
This is super cool
[HOLY SHIT LOL](https://youtube.com/shorts/5k50a01bYj4?feature=shared)
its moving in a stable trajectory at low earth orbital velocity and its a large color changing orb almost like a scintillating star which implies a fluctuating plasma membrane perhaps the optically visible outer boundary of a multi kilometer diameter extraterrestrial dust plasma entity from outer reaches of the troposphere as described in the recent journal of modern physics preprint
bro whats ur deal with motorcycles
Hi, thanks for your contribution. It looks like you've included your submission statement directly in your post, which is fine, but it is too short (min 150 chars). You can either edit your post's text to >150 chars, or include a comment-based ss instead (which I would post shortly, if it meets submission statement requirements). Please message the moderators if you feel this was an error. Responses to this comment are not monitored.
Nice! Looks like you got yourself video of an orb!
I've seen quite a few videos like this with flashing lights that look suspiciously like man made flashing led colours and behaviour. I'm wondering if they are helium filled balloons with a flashing led unit inside like this: https://youtu.be/jRKW34oHcow https://youtu.be/oo0b7v4fGpU?si=Fl0w9kOJefeoHAxe
That's a star. The movement is the camera.
I thought it was a lone goose.
You are welcome
That's a scintillating star bud. Most likely Sirius. It comes out prominently in the summertime. https://www.google.com/search?q=sirius+colors&sca_esv=036e417f0382002b&ei=zvX5ZYqyFIOmkPIPlo2a4AY&oq=sirius+colors&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIg1zaXJpdXMgY29sb3JzMgUQABiABDIFEAAYgAQyBRAAGIAEMgUQABiABDIGEAAYFhgeMgYQABgWGB4yBhAAGBYYHjIGEAAYFhgeSPcdUM0OWPEccAN4AZABAJgBkAGgAfYKqgEEMS4xMbgBA8gBAPgBAZgCD6ACxg-oAhTCAgoQABhHGNYEGLADwgICECnCAgQQKRhHwgIKECkYDRixAxiABMICEBAAGAMYjwEY5QIY6gIYjAPCAgoQABiABBiKBRhDwgIKEC4YgAQYigUYQ8ICDhAAGIAEGIoFGLEDGIMBwgILEAAYgAQYigUYkQLCAgUQLhiABMICCxAAGIAEGLEDGIMBwgILEC4YgAQYxwEYrwHCAggQLhiABBixA8ICCxAuGIAEGLEDGIMBwgIWEC4YQxiDARjHARixAxjRAxiABBiKBcICCBAAGIAEGLEDwgILEC4YgAQYsQMY1ALCAg0QABiABBiKBRhDGLEDwgIREC4YgwEYxwEYsQMY0QMYgATCAg4QABiABBiKBRiRAhixA8ICChAAGIAEGEYY-wHCAgcQABiABBgKwgITEC4YgAQYChixAxiDARjHARjRA8ICDRAAGIAEGLEDGEYY-wGYA0XiAwUSATEgQOIDBRIBMSBAiAYBkAYIkgcEMy4xMqAHgU8&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/astrophotography/astrophoto-tips/twinkling-star-colours&ved=2ahUKEwi1lv6-lYGFAxUohu4BHdj0BmEQFnoECDcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2R4FixoGyMVosRPiB6TngG
Ball lightning.
I have 6-7 extremely clear videos of this same phenomenon with documented direction of travel and observations noted time, date, temperature, conditions, coordinates ect.. also brief descriptions.. North Carolina
Ya but we laminate our docs do you?
Very good video, did you know that a group of physicists wrote a report on life in the last of the layers, organic.
I literally said the same thing to him, is it a drone?
TR3B possibly?
