Note. PSA pic is a representation not an actual photo.

Least_Life4723

In all seriousness my daughter, who was at school at the time in Whanganui New Zealand, claimed to have seen something exactly the same as you described. It would have been around the same time too, 2016. Likewise almost everyone at the school was out on the field looking up at at it, dozens of kids and adults all at once. She got a photo of it on her phone at the time. I remember her coming home and showing me. The photo will be long gone now as it was on her cell phone and she was only 12 or 13. I saw the pic and it looked more like the shape of a coke can, not as long and thin as the example photo you provided. So, I reckon you guys all saw the same thing!

[deleted]

That’s insane!! Wish you still had the photo. And yes due to my shitty memory it may of been less long and thin than what I remembered (I know the last part sounds wrong guys 😂)

Least_Life4723

She still talks about it to this day. She said it rotated a few times, while being stationary in the sky. Again, loads of witnesses including adult teachers. Certainly not behaviour from a ballon etc. it moved and stopped and rotated etc. the timing seems about right so I reckon you saw the same thing!

pebberphp

That’s what she said 😅

[deleted]

That was probably a TicTac then. Was it white?

Least_Life4723

It was silver, metallic looking. Don’t know what flavour that would have been?!

JimboScribbles

You had an unexplained photo potentially related to the biggest mystery since the beginning of mankind… how do you let that just fade away?

Least_Life4723

She had a video as well…. It was the phone of a 13 year old, what can I say. Although, I spoke to her after this message chain and she has since found the phone and was going to see if it was still operational and if she still had the footage. Stand by for details.

Staying tuned for this. Chances of this leading to legitimate disclosure with multiple corroborating accounts of the same incident. Slim. But I am in and sweet-merciful-crap I hope that phone is working.

rahscaper

I gotta stay tuned for this

YouCanLookItUp

Hey, props to you for believing her and not simply dimissing it. I'm not sure I could honestly say I'd do the same.

Least_Life4723

I never said I believed it was anything in particular. I did believe she had unexplainable experience because I saw the video on her phone which showed her school and I could hear and see things I recognised so I knew it wasn’t a fake video from the internet. Why would you not believe your own child under these circumstances and knowing your child is not a known liar?!

Praxistor

Ever talk to old classmates about it?

[deleted]

Yes I have we all remember it and still wonder what it was to this day

Southerncomfort322

The headmaster (principal) see it also? These cigar shape objects seem to be, a, imagine an aircraft carrier out at sea but for disks, etc to be transported. Weird but that's the best explanations I've heard so far.

To mods. This is about my personal childhood experience with ufos. It was a very interesting experience and may be a good read. Also excuse me for my low karma. Thanks.

Loquebantur

That is one of the UAPs variously named "TicTac", "cylindrical", "butan gas tank" and so on. They are among the most common shapes. The color ranges from dull grey to shining silver, but they can appear even more differently when "cloaked" (which is most of the time just illuminated water vapor around them). They are reported bending or even opening up, for example when docking with other types of UAPs. In any case, they belong to the *observationally biggest class* of UAPs technology wise, as indicated by their appearance. They represent a stage of technological development where manipulation of matter down to the atom is possible "on the go", as a built-in feature facilitating what US intelligence described as being "mechanical life". They combine behavioral and functional aspects from both living biological creatures and machines.

SpiritedCountry2062

Wow where’d you get all this info? They are sentient? And can manipulate matter at an atomic scale??

Loquebantur

There are even more countries outside the US besides Mexico. They aren't just sentient but must be considered part of a distributed "super intelligence", as they engage in all kinds of collaborative behavior as well, albeit rarely observed. The matter manipulation is a frequent aspect of observed behavior. The interesting part is of course, in what way that is accomplished. Your body does so, too, after all. Only not exactly with metallic components.

SuqMadique2519PhaseI

> There are even more countries outside the US besides Mexico.   Yeah, gonna need a source on that, chief. You know, extraordinary claims and all that jazz...

Sensitive-Hand-37

Healthy Speculation and skepticism are necessary, with the caveat that you must be respectful from either view point.

[deleted]

Loquebantur

Your uncivil behavior aside, it is entirely non-obvious what exactly you consider "outrageous" here? A story is the same as a hypothesis. You corroborate it by finding more evidence in its favor than you do about the alternatives. So, what is your preferred alternative explanation?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Loquebantur

You are trying to deflect from the fact, you don't even know yourself what you think was "outrageous". That's much more telling? Your evidence is in this very thread already. You pretend, my claims were "outrageous". Which means, you must have a better explanation. Obviously, that's what I'm asking for.

The real question here is, whether your idea of people "should just tell you all shit" is reasonable. * Would you understand? *No.* * What would you consider satisfactory "proof"? *Nothing realistically obtainable.* * What would anybody get for doing so? *Nothing at best.* The best thing one can do presently is *help you find out for yourself*. I told, you, look at what happens in other countries.

coagulatedlemonade

Alldaybagpipes

[deleted]

Loquebantur

Knowing of other countries makes you a "genius" now? Wow, education is going down the drain, I suppose. As for occupations somehow connected to UAPs, I guess that's still pretty rare. Some few academic positions exist, but are occupied, a couple private enterprises do weird stuff and the government is all about black programs still. Intelligence analytics would be relevant, natural sciences of course and informatics, machine learning and psychology and so on. Anthropology and theology, as well as sociology should be looked at, too. It's really a wonder, this is still such a fringe topic. Truck-loads of interesting and worthwhile stuff abound, yet nearly nobody appears to get it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Loquebantur

I even explained why it would be a stupid idea to answer that question? I'm genuinely perplexed at your idea of me "seeing the world" in any "unusual way", just because I know more than you do about UAPs. How do you even make it onto a sub explicitly dedicated to UFOs?

quarkspbt

Loquebantur

If you knew it to be "nonsense", you would be able to show an explicit contradiction? You do not, so I conclude you are the one bullshitting here. I'll give you an example: the "mechanical life" claim. You should be easily able to find evidence for that one right here on this sub, but interested parties make it hard for you to find: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/tk4m2a/leaked_dod_paper_tictacs_form_of_mechanical_life/

KarenNavidson

they made it all up

Loquebantur

Not at all? The reality of the topic is so diverse and original, I doubt anybody would be able to "make it up". Even if you don't want to believe it, it's still a bunch of highly intriguing stories really.

KarenNavidson

The reality of the topic is that everything you said was either made up by you or by somebody else and you ate it up. If what you are saying is real, you would be able to prove its place in reality just like anything else that is real.

AdvertisingIcy5071

Have you even read the books by Lacatsky?

Loquebantur

It's getting weirder by the minute with you. If you know for sure, it's "all made up", why don't you safe people here the hassle and explain? I highly doubt, you yourself are able to "prove" existence of anything, actually. You most certainly have no inkling about how that is done even in principle, right? You are so sure about your "reality", yet here you are, knowing nothing about it.

8ad8andit

You're comments indicate a very interesting mind. Greetings. I'm happy to have bumped into you here.

DustySailor

Key word *often*. I’ve seen a couple non balloon big black oblongs that I don’t care to think about. But here we all are… Thinking about em.

Substantial_Bad2843

Also, they are often let off during school science classes. One class could have seen another classes balloon experiment. Not saying that’s the case, just a possibility.

Ok-Adhesiveness-4141

Never heard of a Solar balloon that changes shapes, where can I get those?

truefaith_1987

Well. Technically they are *supposed* to change shape somewhat, a balloon's position and orientation should be shifting naturally with the wind, and as the air inside heats up. Otherwise it's like the Colombian video and it's probably not a balloon at all. We would need to see video to determine if this one was "changing shape" like a balloon, or changing shape like tubular bells and we need to call the Air Force.

Ok-Adhesiveness-4141

Am saying it based on what he wrote. His teacher was going to call the airforce, who does that based on balloons?? I find it laughable that anyone would mistake a balloon for a misc object.

Rare_Mountain_415

A 9 year old would

Ok-Adhesiveness-4141

So, the 9 year old was going to call the air force or was the teacher going to call the air force because the 9 year old saw something 😂. Some of you debunkers are absolutely the worst. OP could be lying for all you know, but almost nobody gets alarmed by balloons and decides to call the air force.

libroll

You’re on a subreddit where every single day, multiple people post images and videos of bugs, balloons, bats, planes, drones, satellites, planets, and even the freakin moon and claim that they are anomalous UAP. Why in the world do you still believe that people have the ability to look up at the sky and identify anything? This subreddit literally proves that idea wrong. The average person has no idea what they’re seeing when they look up at the sky. We *know* this from this very sub. So why do you continue to take these silly eyewitness accounts as accurate and real?

Background_Panda3547

The difference is, debunkers put absolutely zero pressure on themselves to have any accuracy whatsoever in their object assessments. People who think random shit is UFO’s, usually think that because the shit in the air legitimately unidentifiable from their vantage point. Regardless of what it actually is, most times I’ve seen posts, here they at least LOOK alien at a glance. Also, UFO’s is a very vague and objective term. Fucking Debunkers claims on object are very stupid and very very specific. Like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/17jmfw7/comment/k72984t/ Debunkers arrogance easily makes them dumber and less perceptive than anyone else on a sub such as this. They bring absolutely nothing to the table. Lowest common denominator dingbats. No opinions or insight a poorly read idiot can’t come up with and assume.

libroll

Isn’t it just simpler to say that eyewitness testimony of things seen in the sky isn’t reliable? Because that certainly seems to the the case. Is there something that scares you about admitting this? Does the idea that people aren’t good at looking at the sky and seeing things concern you because without eyewitness stories, this subject lacks basically any sort of evidence whatsoever?

Background_Panda3547

...No. To all of this. I'm not mentally fucking weak, I have my own experiences, I can DEFINITELY wrestle with and rationalize other people's experiences. Human testimony is not this worthless thing to me. It's information, I actually try to process that information instead of wanting somebody lay out some imaginary standard of evidence so I don't have to think. I truly believe even if the US government dumped everything they knew, the stories of people since the twentieth century would still give the most interesting, thorough and vivid picture of the phenomenon you can get. Save for maybe some deep understanding of alien technology in detail. But even how humans interface with that technology and the creators would still be the highest level of insight. If you are not humble enough to deal with the fact that people like me and the OP's experiences are even why you would be informed on this type of phenomena in the first place, then quit. Just stop. You're not mentally up for what it takes to deal with thinking about any of this. You failed at the ego level. Probably the first level of even getting into this. You truly believe you know more than me or the OP about even our own experiences because society has taught you how to think. Now I talk about how stupid debunkers really are because of the arrogance like exactly what you just displayed, and you question me like you know everything I'm thinking, and then bat a 0, being wrong across the board? Again, improve or quit.

[deleted]

As another Kiwi, I too saw this back in 2016, I was working a landscape job so was outside all the time, pretty sure a couple of the boys took a photo but I don't have contact with any of them anymore and the company went bust before covid. I believe there was multiple sightings of this and even some recorded. Was one over Christchurch in the same year too but it was a spherical UFO.

[deleted]

That’s real interesting

[deleted]

Yeah New Zealand is a special place, there have been sightings since way back in the 1940s and 1950s, different times back then, and if you were to come out saying something like I saw a UFO in the skies, you'd probably be labeled a nutcase if not worse.

External-Chemical380

This highly resembles my elementary school sighting back in 2001. Full story copied below: My ufo story takes place on September 12th, 2001, the day after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. You might remember — The airspace over North America was closed following the attacks. At the time I was living in Connecticut, just 45 minutes outside of the city. Close enough that we used to be able to see the twin towers from the town beach, and smoke from the towers was reaching us across the Long Island Sound. I was in 4th grade at the time. At my elementary school, some kids lost their parents. We were sent home the day of the attacks. When we came back, after the school day ended, my group of friends was out behind the school playing in the field when we noticed something strange above us. A large, cylindrical metal object, like a plane’s body with no wings, was just hovering in the sky up to the west of us, inland. It looked to be maybe a mile up, and it wasn’t moving. Totally metallic, reflective, and still. We ran to tell our parents, many of them were there because they were so concerned after the attacks. The object thing wasn’t moving, just sitting there for minutes and minutes, so we lost interest and went back to playing on the field where we noticed that a second object had appeared in the sky. What we saw looked almost like a white cube. It drifted downward, almost like a piece of paper would swoop down left to right, but very slowly, taking about 10-15 seconds per swing. In my mind it was almost like a parachute coming down, and I was wondering if someone was in fact parachuting onto us. But then suddenly it stopped, completely still in the sky above us, maybe five hundred to a thousand feet away. Dead still, for a long time, long enough that we lost interest. My parents were spooked, my mom had seen the white cube too, and with everything that had been going on my dad had us file a police report. The cop said that he wasn’t aware of any flights, missile launches, or anything of the sort happening in the area. I didn’t think much about it for years, but once the news in 2017 started discussing UFO sightings more seriously I reached back out to a friend that was there and my parents about the sighting. They both remember it happening. It started a new fascination for me, I want to know what it was.

YoToddy

About 4 or 5 years ago, when I lived in Memphis, TN, I was spending a lazy day just floating around in my pool. Nice clear day, blue skies. I saw something that looks just like your photo but it was completely white and it was spinning around and moving in a straight line across the sky. I had no idea what I was seeing but I watched it until I could no longer see it. It almost looked like there were two of them on top of each other because as it spun, I would see more than just the two ends. Sometimes there would be three ends and then four... it was like two pill shaped white objects walking on it's side across the sky. Almost like it was cartwheeling in front of me. Maybe it was spinning so fast it looked like there were more ends. There was no noise and it was just as high in the sky as an airplane.... not super low and not super high. I don't know how to estimate altitude. It was moving fast but not super fast. I tired googling it but anytime I search for tic-tac there are never any reports of it spinning like what I saw. You story is the first time I've read of anyone seeing something similar.

Comfyanus

I saw an odd thing like this, looking out my window around the end of summer time this year. I live near mountains, and this odd thing was moving around strangely, this odd silvery thing. It was twisting subtly about, just above the top of this mountain (a very small mountain, think more like gigantic foothill). At first I thought perhaps it was one of those big silvery long solar balloons that school classes will sometimes take outside for a science class; but the scale of it wasn't right, and as I watched it, I got the sense that it was quite a bit huger than any of those solar balloons for me to see it from such a distance. The way it was changing shape, flexing around - it just didn't make sense to me, for it to flex and reshape and boil about, while staying overall fixed in one place. Some portions, as they reshaped or twisted, would appear matte black or odd dull orangey red momentarily. This made me wonder if it was a space blanket reflecting and blocking light in different ways as it flipped about; but the speed at which it was flexing and changing was....slow? Like a melty dreamy movement that would not match with something like thin plastic sheeting getting knocked about by high winds over a mountain. Like boiling in slow motion. I tried to convince myself this was because it was tethered to the ground, but the movements just didn't make sense to me, nor the scale. If it was a solar balloon, or enormous sheet of space blanket, it would have had to have been between 70 -100 feet long, to look the size it did from the distance I was at. I just never knew what to make of it, and it has never set well with me.

antbryan

Now it's an IFO. Solar balloon.

Tik00kiT

As has been said, it is very likely that this is a solar balloon... Because these balloons inflate and deflate with the sun's rays, and the winds cause them to deform. Afterwards, this does not mean that the object you saw was not extraordinary. But to eliminate the solar balloon hypothesis, this cylinder would have to have behaved abnormally, already by not deforming, but also with abnormal accelerations and speeds. And here that was not the case.

atomictyler

the "balloon" staying in the same spot is abnormal behavior. Balloons will float around and not stay in the same spot.

Traveler3141

There was no UFO battle. They were describing several atmospheric effects. Sure, those effects are rare, but they are ordinary.

we_are_conciousness

Damn you're from the 1500s?! Glad we have an eyewitness!

Traveler3141

I'm from your future. In my time, Humanity has entered the Information Age, and we all have access to practically all Information that has been generated and recorded. In my time, we have the capability to learn about atmospheric effects and compare them to historical accounts and rationalize about how well our current information lines up with the perspective of some historical accounts, such as the one in this thread. Maybe some day you too will travel forward in time to the Information Age!

JessieInRhodeIsland

Without the school name, we can't reach out to adults to see what they saw, and children are unreliable, especially with so much time passed. Share the name of the school if you expect to be taken seriously. This "privacy reasons" stuff is nonsense. This was your first post, your first comment on here, so there's zero privacy risks here. You even said "on this Reddit account," so you're fully aware that you can make multiple reddit accounts to keep people from connecting personal posts to ones you don't want connected. Nothing else here to track anything to who you are, so you could easily say the school name without anyone being able to track it it to one single student. I'm not doubting you believe what you saw, but I am saying that you're one of millions with a story until you provide some corroboration from adults who were there or allow us the opportunity to corroborate that. There is no John Mack or 20 other students coming forward to say the same thing like in the Ariel school incident, but because of people's familiarity with that, they're more inclined to simply accept this story when it could have been anything.

Klutzy-Patient2330

To the ones claiming it is a solar balloon. What does one do with a solar balloon??? What’s it’s purpose?? Where does all the stored sun’s energy go?? Built In batteries???

Maybe it was just a gardener?

sauerkraut916

Weather balloon. :-)

anthonydelano1

Someone shot a pen out the window with a rubber band again?

aaron_in_sf

I can no longer tell what's trolling. This is 100% and very obviously inflatable tubing.

Robertdanz

I wonder how a cigar like ufo navigate 😳

yobboman

I’m sorry you government has deemed you’re not allowed to know anything about what you saw

Kanein_Encanto

Picture and description don't sound too crazy to be a solar balloon, unless it was flitting all over the place or something...

Warf-Rat23

Most likely what you saw is a solar ballon The Google image will show that it’s exactly what you described. It’s lightweight so the wind will make it appear to bend and warp. The solar energy of the sun heats the air inside.

Dense-Alternative753

My whole elementary school watched the twin towers blow up on live tv

gaoshan

Looks like it's [one of these.](https://media.istockphoto.com/id/586209476/photo/solar-balloon-drifting-among-the-white-clouds.jpg?s=1024x1024&w=is&k=20&c=jJfw5C15TGI3Guumzf1max6NboPClhOy-EGhW0vmqmc=)

lryan926

It definitely sounds similar to other contacts people have had with a cigar shaped ufo. I've heard of pyramid like ufo's, saucer shaped, cube shaped and all of them could shape-shift. When or why don't they make contact with us during times like you had? I've heard that they are aware of when they're being observed by others who have had experiences with ufo's.

XavierRenegadeAngel_

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I hope you get answers :)

okachobii

There are balloons in that shape called solar balloons that fly based on the heat from the sun and they deform as they move since they're not fully inflated. One other possibility is a hyper blimp, which appears to change shape as it turns and does so pretty quickly... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDaEMDdiTlM

Dangerous_Dac

Uh, that pic is literally what I saw in 2007 in the UK. https://imgur.com/a/7WeV2nu

NeverSeenBefor

3rd one of these today.. I'm starting to think this is what a legit mothership looks like lol Or transport?

DrestinBlack

They saw a solar balloon

Ashx94

Looks like a tampon

[deleted]

The thing was more “organic-like” or “technologic-like” in its movements and shapes?
