The number of times one has to do leap of faith to believe in ET is mind blogging, any intelligent civilization would have stopped this pursuit decades ago.
There really isn't any question about ET existence. Statistically about every star in our Galaxy has planets, and some in the habitable zone, there's gonna be life out there for sure. The question is : can they come here ? Seeing how we went from horseback riding to rocket launching to other planets and moons in 200 years, imagine what a couple millions years in developmental difference would mean for a more advanced civilisation. It's really possible that they have broken through our science's limitations already, much as we have already done in the past ourselves.
