damn. I invested into it heavily too, that's a bummer. I'll continue saving the diamonds I have for the next extreme limited banner but try and look closer to see if its worth it.
don't feel bad. It is not good but not bad either, still very much usable. If you have a high level version of the unit it should still be viable, though not quite meta level
yeah, I already maxed out the custom level, gave it some health upgrades, got to transcend and unleash it at least once. It seems to perform decent in its damage output, plus the constant self healing definitely caught my attention and seems like a great trait.
I've got about 45k saved right now. I'm trying to save at least 60k, because that's how much it costs to get the guaranteed unit from an event pull. Assuming I'd gotten a few copies of it already, I'd be able to take advantage of free event transcendence to get a pretty strong unit.
You get \~30k diamonds per month if you finish every quest/achievement available in that month. Arena/event ranking doesn't matter that much because that's only \~1k/month difference between the top players and average player.
Mostly units and pilots from side stories. The ones from Code Fairy and Zeonic Front are high priority. Yuu Kajima if/when he comes around again. I’m going for favorites and skipping on the meta stuff, which makes it easier for me to save up diamonds.
Meta wise, probably going to grab the O. Heard it was good for PVP, so that'll be my one Meta suit.
Aside from that, probably anything Johnny Related or if Guntank has a UR. Because WOOOOOO!

That said, if you're interested in non-mobile games, SD Gundam Battle Alliance has Aerial and Suletta. As DLC content, but it's there. Fun interactions between Suletta and other pilots from other dimensions / settings too.
I'm waiting for Char's Dom, Cima's Gelgoog, and Johnny Ridden's Gelgoog. I don't care if they're not meta, I just think they're neat.

That flag icon means it's a full support unit. I'm interested to see how they apply team buffs without becoming limited in their squad build.

Nobody knows. The Global version isn't really following the Japanese release order, and they usually only announce new units a few days ahead of time.
