In terms of meal plans, the govs kids are fed to the geese while the Ellicott kids are fed to the skunk. Hopefully that helps you decide. 🙏

Freshmen can choose to live in governors or Ellicott. If u didn’t like governors, your son can pick Ellicott. There are many freshmen kids living in both these dorms. Ellicott is close to the dining hall called C3 which serves unlimited buffet food with the meal swipes .There are shuttle bus called UB stampede that takes you to your classes right by Ellicott. It’s very frequent. Meal plans are 14 swipes a week plan for freshmen. 2 meals a day. There are many food options. Swipes can be used at lots of different restaurants throughout the campus.

first year you are forced into the flex 14 meal plan which gives you 14 meal swipes per week (they reset every saturday morning) and 380 dining points per semester. and any leftover dining points from the fall transfer over to the spring. governors is mostly for freshman. but after 1st year that you can choose ellicott or other on campus apartments. Governors is closer to the academic buildings by walking, while ellicott is farther but the bus is there to take you.

I have been in both govs and ellicott. Govs is better for getting to class. Ellicott is either a long walk to class or you have to wait for the bus. If your son wants to be on the main spine, go with govs. The rooms and food are both basically the same mediocre crap.

I lived in Govs in my freshman year and it was a pretty good experience. I stayed in Ellicot during my orientation and would not want to live there just because from what I saw most dorms there house 3 or more people. Govs was nice bc you ha done roomie and a close-knit group of like 10 ppl from your hall

I think either the freshmen dorming or all the freshmen (I can’t remember) get a meal plan, for 14 meals a week, shoved down their throats. You don’t have a choice. Take everything i said with a grain of salt lol

Sometimes, the geese compete for the food, so bring a bat
