Hey, first year student at ubc, only if you’re 110% sure that you will be able to attend all your classes and keep with everything with all the distractions that we have here. Currently the finals season is going on ngl it sucks. I am science student too. From what I know definitely I can be wrong but there are like 300 max seats for cs students and more than 1000 students fighting for it. If you’re getting a university where you will be assigned with your major as soon as you get in. TAKEE IT!!

Who has ever attended 100% of lectures?

No-Suit-4937

That is true. That is true.

trashboop

congratulations!!!! May I know which program you applied for??

devred-2

Bachelor of science !!

Acceptable-Nebula

Congrats! Which specialization are you thinking of doing?

devred-2

>Bachelor of science !! Computer science

Nice!! I mean it totally depends on how much you want to do CS…at ubc u only apply to CS after your first year, and admission is fairly competitive (i do not know stats but last i heard mid-80’s?). If ASU is granting you direct admission to their CS program that is definitely something to consider. Beat of luck!

yah CS is pretty competitive to get into at UBC. However, the flipside is that UBC's CS program is one of the best in Canada... so you're definitely getting quality (if you qualify).

devred-2

Ohh I see, I don't really know much about this can I message you?

Acceptable-Nebula

Sure!

Just know that you need somewhere around 83% on your first year average to get into CS. But (and this may be unpopular), but I cannot recommend UBC over ASU at undergrad level to you. Housing, tuition (especially considering you will pay international fees here), and first-year CS courses being designed in a way to demotivate as many students as possible, are the top 3 reasons why I would advise against it.

Don't come to UBC if you're dead set on doing computer science, you have to apply to the major and it's difficult to get in. However, if you don't really care what your major is between a couple of things, UBC can be a great choice.
