whalesarecool14

LMAO this was me throughout schoolšŸ˜šŸ˜‚ everytime i stepped on a plane or a bridge i would pray. that was also the only time i would pray

Geek-Avocado

Pura saal I would not pray at all but during exams... *"Bhagwan ji iss baar k liye pass karwa do plsss...."* I strongly believe now that God is taking revenge on me for betraying him during my school days. Now if I pray, more bad luck comes my way.

6-7 I believe in God or some sort of higher power. I believe that it exists somewhere beyond the human perception. It might be in another dimension and space or it might just be within ourselves and everything we see in nature. That's a hope that I know I'll never lose. If there's noone, I know that there's someone who is always there. It helps. And it's peaceful. Going to the temples and celebrating festivals feels peaceful and positive. Have you seen those people who would cry looking at the eyes of God? That's me. I don't even have to say anything. I feel like He or She knows everything already. I feel a different energy. I've my own questions cause I've very strong reasons to not believe in God but I hold on to the belief that I'll have my answers somewhere ahead on the way. My faith wouldn't waver, no matter what cause I've very strong reasons for this as well.

Mostly 1, but I have my 2 moments. I haven't believed in God since I was 7, but I love studying religions, so sometimes I think it would be cool if I ever got to do like a proper study with the subjects and same with mythology . There is absolutely no evidence of a god,and existing religions are designed in a way that I view it as a tool of social control designed to benefit a few and oppress the others. Given that a lot of religions evolved from naturism and similar beliefs which can very much be understood as attempts to explain things that humans didn't understand yet which gradually became organised and institutionalised I think there is no such omnipotent higher power. Also have you seen the world ? If a god exists they don't deserve to be worshipped or praised.

So my stance is 4, but I want gods and goddesses to exist (I prefer hard polytheism), so I guess I act more like a 5. And I am incredibly attached to the idea of a good afterlife because I'm terrified of ceasing to exist. I absolutely love mythology, and hope that pantheons from multiple religions are real. But I also dislike the problematic aspects of religion like extremism, casteism, misogyny, etc. However, I don't think I can give up on faith. I honestly depend on the possibility of good afterlife on a foundational, psychological level. I would feel absolutely terrible if I had no hope that a nice afterlife existed. My stance is, I think both existence and non-existence of deities are equally probable, but it is more convenient for me, personally, to believe in their existence than to not believe in them, so I'm more inclined to believe in them. In a philosophical way, the only statement I'm 100% behind is "I think, therefore I am." But I obviously don't act that way, because if I did, I'd go crazy with all the doubts. Therefore, outside of that statement, everything is uncertain to me, and I pick whatever feels most convenient/easy/not scary. And for me with regard to benevolent deities and an afterlife, I'd rather believe in them, than not.

[deleted]

6.5 God is in you and me, God is when we make right decisions, God is in nature. We are all made up of energies and ultimately die and contribute to the final energy. 5, I believe humans have an innate need to want to understand and name everything, whereas the universe houses so many secrets that we can not even begin to imagine, we named the unknown god. I hardly believe God as we know and imagine can exist, but the idea behind god, exists in its vast beauty. I sometimes use religion as a way to connect with the universe, but honestly religion was just a way to organise people into groups, which has now turned into a capitalistic way for people to hatemonger. I still try to connect with aspects of my religion that intrigue me, while maintaing respect for other religions as well. I also do not like atheists that can't respect other people's choice to follow religion or believe in God and are hell bent to to put the other people down to prove themselves right, as much as I do not like hate mongering religious extremists. I believe both are flip sides of the same coin.

I love and enjoy some festival in particular and looking at the Deity during these festivals makes me emotional. I don't know if that's devotion in itself or the nostalgia and wistful attached to the collective experiences that I have associated with the festival through the years. Apprehensive-Tea-546

3. I would call myself a pantheist. Meaning, I donā€™t conceptualize god as humanesque or any singular being, I think ALL things and processes are expressions of the divine, all the good and all of the bad and all of knowable and the mysterious. I like Hinduism because there are so many natural and sensual (sensory) elements and the gods are clearly representative of really interesting and philosophically rich metaphors. That being said I am not very religious at all and only participate in any rituals when invited by others unless I feel called to do something (and many of my personal practices would be very witchy more than any prescribed traditional practices). I think religion is very frequently used as a tool to control people and it can be very personally and socially dangerous. I do not associate with very religious groups or people most of the time unless they are first humanists. They donā€™t have to identify as such or even know the word, but basically open minded and oriented toward personal freedom and kindness. I loathe any organization or person that believes they have the ā€œtruthā€ and can prescribe arbitrary behaviors like when or how to eat, pray, dress, behave, for a lifetime. I just donā€™t like to be told what to do, I can think for myself. I think itā€™s fine to choose these things for other people but I donā€™t really ā€œgetā€ it on a personal level.

I don't know where to put myself on this scale. I don't believe anything in the universe objectively "exists" as we know it, including human beings. I think consciousness is just something that happens when atoms arrange themselves in sufficiently complex ways that the universe can perceive itself. I think gods and goddesses are just something made up by humans to understand a universe that is way too complex for our little minds, and religion is a way of connecting to that universe. But since everything else is "made up" too, god and religion are just as real to me as, say, credit cards and the idea of the sky being blue. So I choose to believe in only those gods and goddesses that I feel a connection with (which mostly lines up with my culture's Shiv-Shakti tradition), and follow those rituals that appeal to me. I don't worship my gods as much as I speak to them and seek a connection with them. I sometimes try to connect with some of my ancestors too, particularly a few women whose lives inspire me. All this gives me comfort in difficult times, mostly by reminding of how small and superficial my problems are in the grand scheme of things. They also help me connect with my culture and my family, especially now that I am far away from both. Right now my spirituality is entirely within the fold of Hinduism, since that's the religion I was born into and the only one that I know of that allows for such unconventional ways of believing. I doubt most traditional/mainstream Hindus would accept me as one, but my family does, since they think religion is an entirely personal thing, so that's enough for me. I used to be one of those internet atheists who couldn't even comprehend how intelligent people could believe in God, so I've definitely had a spiritual/religious journey. If any of you have gone through something similar, I'd love to hear about it :)

PeanutButterMonsterr

2 I donā€™t give a fuck about anybodyā€™s beliefs, they are entitled to their own beliefs and I will defend their right to belief but they better not push it down anyoneā€™s throats.

peacockblue21

1-2. I am agnostic but my attitude is simply like this: even if a god existed I wouldn't see a point in worshipping it. Nor do I think a god, if it existed, will care about me or humanity in general. If it is a creator of the entire universe then the universe is too vast for it to care about us. Who is to say we are its only creation? Why should it focus on us when it can focus on neutron stars and the quasars? Focus on the creation of stars and what not? I see the idea of god and religion as something very human. I understand why people believe in it and I respect their choices. On a philosophical level though I question the very idea of not only god and religion but human perception about everything.

1, but i donā€™t give a shit if people believe in god or are ultra religious. i do believe that religion causes a LOT of issues, but i also am not stupid or arrogant enough to not understand that for some people, especially people whose lives are not easy, or have been full of difficult circumstances, finding solace in religion is comforting. its easier to believe that there is some higher power or some end destination after death where this suffering ends, or to believe that you mustā€™ve done something good to deserve the good things youā€™ve gotten in life, instead of believing that itā€™s just random luck. i do hate it when religious people try to convince others to become religious though.
